  1. I don't think anyone is saying they wanted it. I sure didn't for my son. But it is what it is and is not changing so wishing is good but won't change a thing. I only think if someone says losing Greeneville, Sullivan East, and Seymour - who had the Region 1 tourney MOW just 2 or 3 years ago btw, is fooling themselves saying they are losing average teams.
  2. Now before you bash Greeneville too much lets remember a couple things. 1 we still make the playoffs and do something in football unlike some teams Jefferson so many wrestlers were in their first week on the mat. 2. There were 3 starters that did not even wrestle that match at all. 3. Greeneville has probably 4 or 5 top 2 seeds if still in AAA region 1 - Jon, Vance, Carlson, and Knight for sure. How many Jeff got? Come on dude average? Really? You should know some facts before saying a team is average. Claiming an early season victory by 1 is your best? Wow.
  3. Not bad choices. I will say Vance has beaten Croley prettly solidly X2 - going to be a totally different match from what I have seen before. Kieta and Murphy should be quite the show.
  4. I agree. Should be a great semis match.160 is a pretty deep weight class with several that could make the finals.
  5. After seeing the brackets, my revised picks. 106 - #4 Ruiter (PF) vs. Gilley (WG) 113 - #4 Hutchins (PF) vs. Hicks (SE) 120 - #1 Kieta (PF) vs. #5 Murphy (ALC) 126 - #1 Boatman (GRV) vs. #4 Verhulst (ALC) 132 - #2 Vance (GRV) vs. #3 Croley (PF) 138 - Renshaw (ALC) vs. Cornely (ELZ) 145 - #2 Carlson (GRV) vs. Frye (PF) 152 - #1 Hargis (GCA) vs. #2 Shereef (ALC) 160 - #1 Long (CAK) vs. Folkner (GRB) 170 - Areas (ELZ) vs. Bowman (GRV) 182 - #3 Elliot (SE) vs. #3 (195) Breeden (PF) 195 - #5 Shurina (KC) vs. Sisto (PF) 220 - #1 Knight (GRV) vs. Evans (ALC) 285 - Soto (KC) vs. Grooms (GRV) Top 3 teams - 1. Pigeon Forge 2. Greeneville 3. Alcoa
  6. I got you. Depth is definitely not a strong point for Region 1. Goes back to building strong feeder programs at the youth and middle school level. Not a lot of schools want to make that investment of time and effort. Science Hill and TN High are two that definitely are seeing the rewards of their local youth programs.
  7. IMO the A/AA separation hurt this year as Greeneville and Sullivan East many times had kids in the Region 1 finals. Seymour being moved out of the region hurt too I believe. They had 2 or 3 kids usually pushing for the finals. Still got some good kids in there and I am sure the finals wont disappoint.
  8. 1. 182 Breeden PF vs Elliot SE (Was a 5-2 Breeded win when they were at 195 early in the season) 2. 220 Evans ALC vs Knight GRV (first time match up but I am just excited to see it) 3. 120 Kieta PF vs Murphy ALC (was 8-7 Kieta at duals) 4. 126 Boatman GRV vs Verhulst ALC (Boatman won 5-0 last match) could also be another state finals match in Regions. 5. 152 Hargis KGR vs Shereef ALC (Hargis win this easy at the GIT but it is a #1 vs #2 match up so what's not to like?) There are some great matches overall. Of course these are based on no upsets occurring before the finals. This is just my list of to watch matches.
  9. It's a slugfest between Pigeon Forge, Greeneville, and Alcoa for 1st. I would say Catholic and Grace round out the top 5. West Greene could sneak up there but their bracket positions are pretty tough overall.
  10. Haven't seen Evans since Middle School but I know he was ranked 7th in California. Quite the accomplishment. Bryson has wrestled very well this season and had a great state duals. Beat the #1 ranked kid at Franklin last weekend. He definitely isn't going to back down from the challenge. No prediction cause I haven't seen Sammy but this could easily be a match up seen in the region and state finals. Should be a great match.
  11. Yeah Sammy was still in California when I did my picks. Still not sure how that worked but he and Knight should be the finals now at 220.
  12. Congrats to Pigeon Forge on solid tournament and state championship. Now time to get to individuals.

  14. To quote a real idiot - "can't we all just get along". Well off the mat that is.
  15. Will we see the breakdown of these picks by weight class and team?
  16. I guess anything can happen and don't really have a dog in this fight, but when is the last time Debien even had a match end in a decision to a D1 kid? Probably can't remember and probably won't happen against WC and that is no disrespect just history. Don't see that match not ending in anything but a pin or TF. I think the 132 and 138 matches are a stretch but hey anything can happen. Will be fun to watch.
  17. Well not by design. Don't think Central can beat Greeneville but Hixson and Greeneville will be a good one that can go either way. Should be fun to watch at least. Pigeon Forge could just as easily be in that mix too.

  19. Should be a Friday/Saturday tournament like D2 from what I heard.
  20. Greeneville won Region 1 A/AA over West Greene 67-6.
  21. Region 1 A/AA dual finals will be hosted by Greeneville Thursday night. First Round: Greeneville vs. Happy Valley Sullivan East vs. West Greene Winners of the first round face off for that one spot to state. West Greene, by the schedule on Track, travels to Sullivan East tonight for a dual. Should be a good preview for Thursday nights first round. Greeneville defeated West Greene last night 66-18.
  22. Pretty confident he is number 3 in the mix with Kieta and Murphy.
  23. Nice win for "The C". Does this mean ScottMike will be all over the site again?
  24.
