  1. Two teams from Williamson County / District 11 making it this year, congrats to Brentwood and Centennial High Schools. Last time that happened was in 2006 when Franklin and Ravenwood advanced made it to state. Hopefully one them will bring home a title this time, but no matter what, it is quite an accomplishment making it this far. Good luck!

    11AAA

Congrats to BHS and CHS. Two teams from 11AAA going to state for the first time since the expansion/realignment in 2003. Only Hillsboro hasn't made it now,... I thought that these were the two top teams before the start of the season ( I just didn't post it so you'll have to trust me). Brentwood must have turned things around since the district tournament to keep rolling on, they did not look strong a week ago. Centennial is looking strong with good hitting and depth at pitching. Good Luck!
  3. Indyeagle, It amazes me how you can take something that is written and twist it into something that you can try to use to continually bash the Franklin program (fans, players, and coaches). You’re hatred of the school and specifically Glover has been obvious the last few years and Coach T has been your sounding board for you to share your hatred. Get over it! Regarding what I wrote earlier and you replied to. Nowhere in my previous post did I compare the talent of the current team with the earlier team that went to state three times, they were awesome. I just stated that the program has been to state four times. You can hardly deny that this year’s team made it to the state tournament. Go to the TSSAA website to confirm if you think I am wrong. In my post I wrote that the team’s strong points were pitching and defense, I did not comment on the offense. For you to state that it had zero offense is incorrect. The team won 10 games in a row starting with the Centennial series thru the sectional game with 45 total runs. It was not a high powered offense but it sufficed. In that same stretch the team allowed 18 runs. I think that is a result of good pitching and defense. Although they lost their final two games their offense did score 12 runs in the state tournament against good teams. The team had talent; a coach can’t do this all on his own. I am a parent but I am not delusional. I did not help run off any coaches, I cheered for the teams like most the other parents and fans. Some parents and players were not happy but you will find that on any team. The athletic program at Franklin is strong and will continue to be strong.
  4. Stop trashing the Franklin Baseball Program, The Franklin coaching position will be a great opportunity for any baseball coach. Franklin usually has many talented players and great fans. They have a winning tradition, reaching the state tournament four times since expansion, twice as many as Indy and Ravenwood, the only other AAA Williamson county schools to make it that far. Only three programs in the state (AAA) have made it more than four times. From the little bit of insight that I know, Glover’s resignation was not related to his performance as a baseball coach. Coaching baseball was only one of his jobs at the school, he had other responsibilities that he was accountable for. Regarding the comments about taking a subpar team to state I saw posted elsewhere, Franklin was going to have a good team this year and was predicted to go far by many. It was no surprise that they won the district and the Region and making it to the sectional game. Going to state may have been considered a surprise by some but it was not out of the realm of possibilities for this team, even before the start of the season. With that being said, Glover did not perform a miracle with this team but he did a good job. They were not subpar but rather a team that had talent, especially with pitching and defense. It was the same pitching staff that got them runner-up status in the district tournament to Indy the year before.
  5. Wow, I was just having fun with this bracketology. I'm thrilled the Rebels have made it this far and look forward to watching all the teams play next week.
  6. I thought they were drawn from a hat but..... If the top four teams are in the upper bracket, then the bottom four teams should be put in the lower bracket. It all makes sense, Go Franklin Rebels!
  7. Franklin - Hunters Lane starts at 5:30 tonight.
  8. OK, most williamson county teams respect Overton. The team that didn't is done for the season now and probably respects you now too... although they will never admit it!
  9. I think the Williamson county teams have always respected Overton and they have deserved it. Not sure why this is even being brought up. Overton has regularly beaten the District 11 Runner up teams the last couple of years. This year was no different.
  10. The high school season wins for the excitement and pressure. Last weeks tournament games had a couple hundred fans watching a single game, not just parents and siblings. Elimination means something. The students get rowdy and the crowd really gets into it. The pressure is felt by the players and when they win, they are much more excited than winning a summer ball tournament.
  11. Getting back to baseball, is BGA still alive in the DIIAA division? Its hard to follow how they are doing when the post gets a little off tangent about the bush league antics of their players. Since it looks like there are only 16 teams in this division according to the TSSAA website, how many advance to the "state" tournament?
  12. This message board should be about the teams performances and upcoming games; not rumors or speculation about a coach's future. No announcment has been made to Franklin players or parents but rumors have been flying for the last three years, this is nothing new for the program. People posting these things because they heard something keeps the rumors going. And if it is true, so what. He's the coach right now and his team just won the District tournament with three straight quality wins. Congratulations to the Franklin Rebels! Now on to the Regions for both Franklin and Brentwood. Both teams should meet again and fortunately they cannot eliminate each other. It would be great to see both get to the state tournament but the competition will be very tough to advance that far.
  13. It looks like Indy, the mighty pride of 11AAA and Williamson County baseball, has fallen hard. Even your poor predictions couldn't get them to advance. However, my predictions at the start of the season with Brentwood, Franklin and Centennial battling it out still hold true as they are the three remaining teams in the tournament. Note: The Indy comment is directed solely at IndyEagle09 and not the fine parents and players of the Indy baseball team that I know. I expect that Indy will be battling it out again next year.
  14. #2 seed is not determined by how the teams play against the #1 seed, it is firt based on record and then second with head-to-head tiebreakers . In the case with three teams tied and the tiebreakers cancelling things out it would probably go to a coin-flip but I'm not sure. Just so you know, Franklin and Centennial have both won games against Brentwood too, Indy is not the only team to accomplish this.
  15. As I understand it, Franklin swept Hillsboro, CHS and IHS have split the series so far, and BHS won the first game against RHS but the paper didn't list last night's game. Anybody want to share who won it?
  16. Franklin won 12-2. Franklin is starting to hit the ball well and their starting pitching looked good in all three games. Ravenwood is really struggling defensively, way too many errors. District play will resume in two weeks and maybe Franklin can put a run together......
  17. The board has been quiet. The Rebels have not come out of the gates as expected. Their hitting has been inconsistent/poor and the defense has made way too many errors. It's obvious that they were not prepared to play when the season started. The line up is still not set yet. Last night the bats looked good but they faced a freshman pitcher. The good news for Franklin is that their pitching has been good and the bats should continue to improve throughout the season. It just may be too late for them to be in contention for the regular season district title. They won't stand a chance if the defense continues to make errors. The battle right now is between Indy, Centennial, and Brentwood. Indy looked good the first week.
  18. In the past I had agreed with many of IndyEagle09's posts but no longer. To seriously think that Indy would be the frontrunner if Summit didn't exist is crazy. They did not lose any juniors or seniors. They will miss DB but to think that a bunch of other Sophomores would lead the team to victory is not right. Franklin has not had a winning season based on win/loss' under Glover is correct but both seasons have resulted with runner up status in the district tournament, last year advancing on to the next round. I don't think Glover cares about the overall record but how the team performs in district play. In another post IndyEagle09 has stated that the Franklin pitching rotation has not improved in the three years the coach has been at Franklin... this is his third year so it is a little early to make that comment. The comment about the district falling in terms of talent may be accurate but it may be too early to tell too. There are a lot of quality players out there just not some of the big names. Looking at the schedules, I would predict that Indy has a good chance at taking a game or two from the Rebels since the season is early and Franklin will not have played or scrimmaged as much as Indy, depending on weather it may be Franklin's first game too. Look for Centenial to be the dark horse in the district and finish in the top 3. Indy will battle with Ravenwood for the 4th spot.
  19. It’s good to get this discussion going again now that the season is almost here. Every year seniors graduate and it impacts the programs but Indy will really feel the loss this year. Add that to the departure of some younger players over to Summit and it looks like Indy’s reign at the top will finally end. It is early to make predictions since all most of us have to go on is based on last year’s performance. Since last year, the returning players have all improved and have become stronger. There are also new players that will have an impact. With that being said, I expect the top teams to be Franklin and Brentwood with Centennial as a potential contender. These three teams each have a large group of returning players that have already proven themselves. Franklin is deep in pitching with their key pitchers from last year returning. They lost their number one offensive producer from last year but if the returning players step-up offensively, they should be the team to beat. Brentwood returns most of their potent offense from last year but the depth of their pitching staff may be their weakness. After their #1 I don’t know who else they have. If they have some effective new arms, they will be very tough to beat since they should remain strong offensively. Centennial surprised teams last year and has most their team is back. They are not young anymore which should translate to improved performance and toughness. They don’t have any glaring weaknesses but they don’t have any superstars either. Ravenwood and Indy will battle for the 4th and 5th spots. Each team has some good players but not the depth of quality players needed to contend for the title. This will be an exciting change to see some other teams battling it out for the district title this year.
