Who's got it this year? Franklin went to state last year while Brentwood went to sub-state. Will it look about the same this year or is someone else going to come in and take one of these two teams out?
  2. Congrats to Franklin tonight for beating Rossview 3-2 in 8 innings and going to state for the first time since Corban Joeseph was leading the Rebels!
  3. Franklin beat Hunters Lane tonight 7-2. Franklin looked a little flat overall but were still able to get a comfortable victory. The question for tomorrow nights game is whether Overton has a solid number 2 pitcher that can pitch as well as their number one did vs. Brentwood. Regardless both teams move on to sub-state; congrats to both! Should be a good game tomorrow night between Franklin and Overton.
  4. I too heard about the Robertson situation. It was something about not making a mile under a certain time so the coach would not let him on the team. I am not saying this is true at all because I can't see a coach getting rid of a top of the rotation arm like Robertson, but this is what I have heard. Hopefully this is just a rumor; it would really shake up the district though, Brentwood could go toe to toe with Franklin if this is true.
  5. I think it's funny how CHS Team Player is the guy who always brings up Franklin being "cheap and dirty". I feel a little bit of anger coming from you after watching so many years of Franklin beating down on Centennial in football. How bout you quit dogging on Franklin and worry about your Cougars a little more. Thankfully, for you anyway, they play in 5A and are able to get into the playoffs. Franklin plays a hard nosed get in your face kind of defense, so yes, they may make some "cheap" hits every now and then because everyone is flying to the ball trying to lay out the guy carrying it. I'm sure every defensive player loves people on here calling them thugs and cheap players because they know they left their mark. I'll tell you one thing, Smyrna better prepare for some "cheap shots" from all the "thugs" on the Franklin defense because I'm sure they will be coming all night. If Franklin scores a touchdown or two they will win, because that cheap defense seems to be working pretty well for them these days.
  6. This was a close game last time these two teams met. Smyrna won (I believe it was in double overtime). This was a very defensive game, with very little offense. I expect the same here again. Smyrna is always a very tough team to beat. If they are able to get a touchdown or two vs Franklin they will probably come out on top, but that is a very big if. Franklin's defense has been playing very well over the past 6 weeks and there offense was able to score some points last night also. Should be a good game, cant wait to watch! I'm going to say Franklin wins by 3 to get revenge of that earlier L.
  7. The season is wrapping up for both teams this week. Brentwood has all the confidence in the world after taking out Blackman. Franklin is coming off of a bye week after losing a 5-3 all defensive game against Indy the week before. This game should shape up how the playoff bracket will look. Should be a good game. Who wins this one?
  8. I've been reading these posts for the past 2 weeks, always checking them to see if anything knew is said, and the trash talk is what this game is all about. I don't know why Franklin fans are getting so much hate on here from everyone for being "classless or cocky" because the people from Indy are saying just as much stuff on here from what I can tell. Anyways, I'm assuming a very fun game to watch. My guess on prediction would be 10-7 Franklin winning. Very low scoring game with 2 good defenses. Franklin will manage to get a turnover that puts them in great starting field position to win. Indy will end their scoreless streak with a touchdown (also from a turnover resulting in great field position.) Heard there will be a white out from the Indy student section and a blackout from the Franklin one. Can't wait to watch this one, the atmosphere should be great!
  9. I'm saying Franklin only win 24-0. That would be a great win for most games but Ravenwood this year is not very good, so somewhat of a small win here. The defense will shut out Ravenwood, where everyone on that side of the ball seem to be getting into a playoff type mood and mindset after putting up great performances the past couple of weeks. The offense has been slow though so that's why I'm saying only 24 points. And I'm sure the defense will put the offense in great position the whole game. Hopefully the offense will start rolling this game and score more then 24, but thats my prediction at the moment.
  10. Good videos! CHS did look good besides the special teams and pass defense. But what helped them look good was a horrid Overton O-Line (or at least it looked to be so). Franklin doesn't have the best O-Line this year, but I do not see CHS being able to put that much pressure on Kuivinen like they did the Overton QB.
  11. This will be interesting to see if improvements happen throughout the year. I've heard on this site (mainly from taco) that this team will be stepping up and surprising people. After hearing so many good things about CHS, i was SURPRISED they lost to Overton. From what I hear (I wasn't at the game so I can't say for sure) they look to be the same team as all the past years. They have a little athleticism, but have trouble using it into making a good football program. I personally think there is only so much a coaching staff can do with bad football players, but best of luck to this staff on making CHS a solid team finishing the year. But about next week, Franklin wins by 28. Will not be close.
  12. Believe me, the Franklin team in the second half of that game was no where to be found the first half. I'm betting on nerves hit all the Franklin kids for the first half. You could tell the players were down, the coaches were mad, and the fans were upset throughout the first half. The coaches didn't take the players into the locker room, instead took them to the side of the stadium to talk. Something good must have been said during that talk because the team looked completely different from the start. The defense had a little swagger on the field and the offense finally started making plays. First half Franklin had a hard time running and catching the ball. Hats off to Kuivinen for staying in the game the way he did; he had hit his receivers multiple times in the hands and the kids were dropping the ball, but after the nerves were gone, the receivers started making plays and the running game took off after putting in a sophomore back. Had Franklin played the first half like they did the second half, the game would have been a blowout. Everybody better watch out for this team assuming the second half team shows up week in and week out now.
  13. I am not sure if it had to do with either his family moving houses or being rezoned into the Franklin area instead of Centennial area. Either way, both the unapproved website website and magazine says he was expected to be the 2nd best player on the Centennial squad this year as a sophomore. You can never correctly predict a sophomore because of the inexperience, but I've talked to some people and they have all said the kid flies and will help the offense out. But to answer your question, I really don't know the exact reason, I am just taking a guess on one of those two reasonings!
  14. I feel like this thread should be called "CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL COUGARS" instead of "FRANKLIN REBELS 2011" with the way Taco and everyone else has taken over this thread talking about how "up and coming the cougars are". Centennial definitely put a scare on Franklin last year, almost beating them. The fans for Centennial acted like they won that game after the whole Centennial student section rushed the field after in excitement (I can say I have never seen a losing team's student section storm a field after losing but I guess losing by less then 10 is a big deal in these young kids minds over at CHS). Though I do think Centennial will be better this year then most years, I do not see the FHS vs. CHS game being near that close this year. Yameek Woods, CHS's projected 2nd best player, is now over at Franklin, which will not only hurt Centennial, but help out Franklin a lot on offense. People around the league say Franklin is slow; this kid definitely helps the offensive speed. Like many have said, Franklin's returning starters on offense and defense will help the team start off fast this year (unlike some other years in the past) and eventually lead this team to winning the district. Goodluck to the rest of the district. Personally I can't wait for the FHS vs. BHS game, it is always exciting from the kickoff!
  15. I believe you can at least look at last year from Franklin's standpoint, as they return many starters from a team that upset one of the top teams (Oakland) from your "RuCo" district on the road in the playoffs. If I do remember correctly, that was the same team that defeated Siegel 36-0 earlier in the year. Also Siegel lost to an atrocious Independence team last year that hasn't scored on Franklin in 3 years. And as for Brentwood, many outside of the district see them as the top team because of their tradition, but those inside the district will tell you this is a weaker Brentwood this year as they lost a ton of talent to graduation last year. Should be a good game though!
