  1. Question of the tournament...If WV loses game 1 tomorrow will Towne throw game 2 on 1 day of rest...AGAIN. I've got a grand that says he will. I hope, for his arm's sake, they win game one and he can have one more day of rest before he throws another shutout. My Pirates are out, so I'm rooting for the Stangs now.
  2. Bradley Central anyone??? We played in a tourney there earlier in the year and it is amazing. First time I'd been there in about 20 years and the playing field was always nice with Joe Adams there. Looks like his son Travis has kept up the legacy. I bet McKenzie dropped a million bucks on it.
  3. Having watched a lot of A baseball this year. I think the key for South Pitt is going to be scoring enough runs to not waste good pitching performances. They are peaking at the right time but if they get in the losers bracket they may be in trouble. They will not be too caught up in the moment like I think they were last year. They stepped up their schedule this year and I think it will pay off starting Tuesday. If you've got lefties in your lineup good luck.
  4. I think it's hilarious you guys still think spillthebeans is from Ooltewah. Just look at all his previous posts. He is not from Ooltewah and is clearly just messing with all you guys. Seems to be working too. Again, I was at the game and it was a pretty mild-mannered game as these games go. Neither one of these teams was good enough to go to the Boro so let's focus now on the ones that were. See y'all at the Fling. Go South Pitt.
  5. I believe the winner of tonight's game between South Pitt and Boyd Buchanan will make it to the the Boro. The loser will probably have to go to Friendship Christian unless something crazy happens. Jacob Toney was awesome last night although his velocity wasn't what it has been until later in the game. Silverdale imploded late in the game and it was another example of teams losing games this time of year rather than winning them. Tonight's game is huge because of what is looming for the loser on Friday. Silverdale impressed me with so many tough at bats against Toney. They just made too many mistakes and gave us opportunities. This is a BIG ONE tonight!!! Allen vs. Parker???
  6. Now those last two comments were sportsmanlike. Now, what's worse a few teenage players upset after a tough loss or a couple of grownups making petty comments well after the fact? As far as the coach's comments, I think they were right on the money. Ooltewah gave the game away and to Warren's credit they hung in there long enough to get the win. If you look at their records, their schedules, and their players Ooltewah had a much better year. They just had a bad day and got put out by a team with 17 losses. I was at the game and Ooltewah was not overconfident, they looked nervous from the beginning. I didn't see any of the post game things that supposedly occurred. The most unsportsmanlike thing I saw from Ooltewah was one of the big lefties stared a kid down after hitting him hard in the back. As far as Warren, their coach was yelling at the Ooltewah pitcher trying to induce a balk a couple of times and the Warren female fans were doing some kind of screaming or whistling or something. More annoying than unsportsmanlike I guess. I thought it was actually a pretty mild mannered game. But, like most baseball games this one was lost more than it was won. There is no shame or disrespect in that. It is called truth. Congrats to Warren County for turning your program around this year. Like your coach said you guys are scrappy.
  7. Ooltewah will have their hands full with Soddy Daisy. East Ham is pretty solid, but Soddy Daisy was the best team that I saw. The Harris kid is an athletic freak...amazing player.
  8. Based on what I've seen and heard Soddy is the only team that can make it to the state from 5-AAA. I would put the district, top-to-bottom, like this: 1. Soddy 2. Walker Valley 3. Ooltewah 4. Bradley 5. Cleveland 6. Rhea County 7. McMinn County
  9. Well, I made my rounds on Saturday and had numerous "informants" at the different sites. After talking to the experts at all of the sites, the consensus is that Soddy Daisy, South Pitt, and Walker Valley looked the best, South Pitt had the best pitching, Soddy had the best hitters, and Walker Valley played really solid. Soddy was definitely the best team I saw first hand. I know Ooltewah will be pretty good, but I don't know if they have enough to stay with the others. My EH people tell me they put it on them pretty good. FYI, skydogg, the Hooter guy told me they played their JV against yall. Overall, I agree that baseball is down around the area but SOUTH PITT has a great chance to make a run in 1A.
  10. what about PITT? They beat grace then got revenge on Eagleville yesterday and now play riverside who Eagleville sent down to the losers bracket yesterday.anyone can win now.let Pitt win this one then watch out they are alot better than everyone is giving them credit for.they play teams out of their classification this year unlike riverside or decatur or whatever namethey are going by. Not so sure about that last comment there. Riverside definitely has the tougher schedule (Wins over Houston, Bartlett, Lexington, etc.). South Pitt has played a bunch of average to below-average teams and the teams they played from bigger schools were having terrible years it looks like. I hope you don't truly believe that your schedule was harder than Eagleville's or Riverside's. Step up and play somebody. You guys have a very good team and I love the lefty I saw yesterday, but you don't get credit or respect from perennial powers until you do something against good teams consistently.
