  1. S'alright. I was just trying to get your thoughts about a specific player without having to name him...
  2. Okay, MG, I can respect that you won't name the team's main players. But you've gotta give me something. How about this? Can you identify some of the younger guys (sophomores and freshmen) that may get some time this year and will play big parts in the future?
  3. What's happened in the tourney? Scores?
  4. Actually, I think he included the speeds to emphasize that it wasn't D'burg's fastest players that was caught. BTW, for what it's worth: Trojans 26 DC 15
  5. Seasons can go south quickly and upsets do happen. For reference: Dyersburg fans, see 2005.
  6. Know anything about D1 A/AA region 7? Who plays TCA and Lexington?
  7. There's no need for name calling. Private schools and Ivy League schools are different entities entirely. Show some class.
  8. I'm not going to slam you, dude, but the fact of the matter is that no one got a scholarship to play at an ivy legaue school, because Ivy League schools don't offer athletic scholarships. Actually, the league has specific rules against offering athletic scholarhsips. Consider this: the Harvard football team was undefeated and highly ranked last season. The I-AA playoffs conflicted with exam schedules, so the team elected not participate.
  9. *sigh* I'm a Trojan fan. You are correct in thinking that not all of us are as crass as trojanfan56. I really do wish that he/she would stop and think before typing. Or, if nothing else, use a spellcheck or something.
  10. Nevermind Newbern, Dyersburg, or Bartlett. The people with the real superiority complex are those people in RoEllen. True story: I married a girl from Roellen. The first time that I picked her up at her house for a date, her dad met me on the porch with an angry look and a shotgun.
  11. I'll call lester hayes. Sounds like a good game. Congrats on a nice win.
  12. Does anyone know of an internet braodcast for this game? BTW: D'Burg 54 Haywood 49
  13. I repectfully disagree with y'all. Kids only get 2 months off from school now. They practice and play in the fall, then have spring practice. Why not let the kids have a month off? Don't turn them into adults and make high school football a full time, year-round job. Also, saying that the man is keeping summer practices to a minimum because he doesn't want his job to get too difficult is just ludicrous. It's reasonable to assume that, if sports get bigger and more lucrative, he will also.
  14. Any news on the district tourney?
  15. I'll give them credit for adding more Ap classes than when I was there, butI've still got my reasons as to why I think they could do better. This is not an academic board, though, so I'll drop it. On to Boys basketball. I've noticed this guy Rudesil (sp?) mentioned at D'burg in a couple of posts now. Where is he currently coaching? I tend to be more familiar with programs and less familiar with coaches.
  16. Unfortunately, I am very familiar with DHS. I spent the first 20 years of my life in Dyersburg. I spent all of my dyersburg education years in the dyersburg city school system. I graduated from DHS with an honor's diploma. My parents and my in-laws both live in Dyersburg (Okay, my in-laws live in Roellen, but don't hold that against them /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ). I still make frequent trips back to the burg. I've friends from DHS that have gone on to noted schools of higher learning, attained Master's degrees and even (in the case of one of my best friends) a PhD. And I'm no dummy, either. But I don't know, maybe things have changed since I was there. All I am saying is that, if given a choice between the best teacher in West Tennessee and the best football coach, the school would hire the coach -- hands down -- and give him a higher salary and more equipment to work with. It's been a long time since 1991 (the year when DHS was named a school of excellence).
  17. I think what would be better is for the administration at Dyersburg to accept that themselves, as well as the community, care more about successful sports programs than the education of their children.
  18. The teams that lose the next game are out, I believe. If a team wins this game and loses in the regional final, they get a game against the winner of Region 8.
  19. Any word on the region results against Dyersburg and DC?
  20. I'll take my piece of junk 1990 mazda over the both of your cars.
  21. I'll be the representative for good sportsmanship from Dyersburg... Congrats to Greenville for a well played game and a terrific season. I wish you the best of luck next year.
