Unfortunately, I am very familiar with DHS. I spent the first 20 years of my life in Dyersburg. I spent all of my dyersburg education years in the dyersburg city school system. I graduated from DHS with an honor's diploma. My parents and my in-laws both live in Dyersburg (Okay, my in-laws live in Roellen, but don't hold that against them /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ). I still make frequent trips back to the burg. I've friends from DHS that have gone on to noted schools of higher learning, attained Master's degrees and even (in the case of one of my best friends) a PhD. And I'm no dummy, either.
But I don't know, maybe things have changed since I was there. All I am saying is that, if given a choice between the best teacher in West Tennessee and the best football coach, the school would hire the coach -- hands down -- and give him a higher salary and more equipment to work with. It's been a long time since 1991 (the year when DHS was named a school of excellence).
