  1. I would like to take this opportunity to invite some of you NET football fans to come to Greeneville Friday night. We can use all the support that we can get. It should be a good matchup. It is a rematch of the 2009 State Championship game. If you don’t have anything else to do, then please come down to Burley Stadium this Friday. Thanks.
  2. No doubt that GC will be a good team. But, are you really going to start with that “Greeneville doesn’t play anybody" stuff? I think Greeneville’s nonconference schedule speaks for itself.
  3. Just wanted to say good luck to Maryville. I hope we (Maryville and Greeneville) can both make it to Cookeville again this year.
  4. I don’t disagree with anything you said. I just have a different philosophy than many on here. I like to assume every opponent is going to give my team a good game, until proven otherwise. I am definitely confident, but try to stay away from arrogance. I know you do the same. Anyway, I’m looking forward to your video from tonight’s game.
  5. I hope this doesn’t sound arrogant, but I’m amazed every game at how much stronger Greeneville seems to be than their opponents. They must really work hard in the weight room.
  6. We aren’t falling for that. If Giles couldn't play, then they wouldn't have made it this far. Have a safe trip to Greeneville, I'm not sure how far that is for you guys.
  7. Thanks for the compliments. Even in a loss, you can tell the Fulton will have some good years ahead of them.
  8. I have no doubt they will challenge Greeneville, it is a semifinal game afterall. Do they still throw a lot?
  9. We prefer to talk about defense this year. That is the strength of this team. You think I’m joking but...I’m not.
  10. The state championship game from two years ago will be enough to make sure Greeneville respects what Giles Co. is capable of. If I remember correctly, they used a lot of different looks offensively. So, they won’t be easy to prepare for. This is a state semifinal game, so both teams will be good. No one should expect a blowout game by this round. It could happen, but the odds are against it.
  11. I can’t wait. All those sophomores who played for Greeneville two years ago have probably been looking forward to having another shot at them. I’m sure Giles Co. will be a tough opponent, and I hope they bring a big crowd to Greeneville. If Greeneville keeps playing like they did tonight, then I like their chances.
  12. I hope someone got video of Greeneville taking a knee twice to end the game for StrongX. Otherwise, he won’t believe it.
  13. Congrats to CAK. Alcoa, you have nothing to be down about. That was an incredible run that had to end eventually. I’m sure you will be back strong next year. You've got a classy program.
  14. Probably the best post I've ever read on here. Well said. Go Greene!
  15. I heard Greeneville got to use the indoor facility this week during the rain. I wonder how much the weather effected Fulton’s preparation.
  16. Did you pick the town based on the football program? You went from one state championship caliber team to another. Good luck to your new team.
  17. If you know people from Greeneville, then who knows you may be arguing with them on this board. I’m telling you, these scores might make Greeneville look bad in the eyes of a few but that doesn’t tell the full story. Almost all of the scoring is done in the first half, and the second/third string players are in the game the rest of the time. I’m really not sure what the big deal is at this point, because I doubt we are in the situation any more this year. The competition is going to improve greatly over the next couple of rounds, starting with Fulton. I think you are a Maryville fan (correct me if I’m wrong), so I want to say good luck to you as well. You have a class program and I have always pulled for you guys when Greeneville didn’t have to play them.
  18. He’s not a Greeneville fan. In fact, he seems to really hate Greeneville for some reason.
  19. I’m not saying that Greeneville is necessarily stronger than Maryville overall. I’m just saying when you factor in the size of Greeneville’s players and being 4A, I’d rank them very high in the "pound for pound" argument. Their weight program is second to none. In an interview this year, one of Greeneville’s former players said that he and his Greeneville teammate were ahead of the other college Freshmen coming into the college weight program. I think that says something about Greeneville’s weight program.
  20. I’ll say it a little differently. "Pound for pound", there is no team in the state stronger than Greeneville.
  21. Maryville beat a team 69-6 this year and they are one of the classiest teams in the state. Were they trying to run up the score? Of course not, but for some reason Greeneville is accused of running up the score by winning 77-7. It sounds like you just have something against Greeneville. Please have a clue before you start posting on our thread.
  22. Has anyone else noticed that we seem to play much better offensively when we use the two receiver formation (like against Alcoa and last night)? We have so many strong guys, I think putting a couple extra players on the line of scrimmage is just too much to handle for most teams. Thoughts?
  23. The truth is, Greeneville did not run up the score on Carter or anyone this season. Greeneville plays hard every down, regardless if it is first string or the third string. That is what you are supposed to do! You wouldn’t want to teach your players any other way of playing. The coaches put their subs in early (Greeneville wasn’t even using their first string kicker late in the game) and ran the ball almost every down. They gave Carter every chance to stop them. That is all you can ask a coach to do, the rest has to be determined on the field. Just because Greeneville didn’t take a knee on every play or intentionally fall down while carrying the ball doesn’t mean they were trying to run up the score. If the third string scores on a simple running play, then can you really blame that on the coach? Think about that for a minute and quit focusing solely on the score. The score doesn't tell the whole story. It is amazing that the people who didn’t see the game are the ones who have a problem with it.
  24. Didn't you read the post you quoted? Mo West is a really good 5A team. I think beating a team like Alcoa speaks for itself.
  25. Greeneville isn’t a 6A team, we don’t go 5 deep at every positions. We played our third string RB and the backup QB the entire second half. In fact, I’m pretty sure they started playing in the second quarter. That is about as nice as you can get. The score was a result of Greeneville playing well and Carter playing poorly. You’d have to witness the game to understand. I’m not a fan of running up the score, so I’d tell you if Greeneville ran up the score. The only time I’ve ever seen Greeneville run up the score was against Trezevant last year. I think everyone agrees that they deserved it
