  1. I don't know did TH bring their c game vs the devils, or were they simply overmatched? You may not have said it directly, but you implied the devils were not ready to play vs WG and made numerous mental mistakes which most definitely is a reflection of their coaching, or lack of.
  2. So your saying the greenedevils are a poorly coached team barb? Well coached, diciplined teams don't do what you are describing especially against a county rival. Better hope the greenedevils coaches have them a little more prepared if your ever gonna get that elusive state crown. If they bring their c game vs a team that can match up talent wise they will go home with their tail between their legs, and all you devil fans that have already crowned them state champs will look pretty silly.
  3. How dare you give someone credit other than the greenedevils kilmer, that will surely get you stoned to death by the devil faithful.
  4. I thought Union County High had only been in existance for 10-12 years so I don't know how Shoffner held it for 20 years....maybe I am wrong....congrats, and Tyler has a few games to build on his record.
  5. The reason that many people were dissapointed last year was the non-conference schedule, which was weak to say the least, and did not prepare them for the tourny....still it was an outstanding year. Any time you have a change of coaching and a new system put in place, plus the loss of outstanding players to transfer or graduation, there will be some growing pains which can lead to a slow start. It looks as if Union is responding with their recent string of wins, and could scare some people post season. BTW it looks as though coach Jessee's team is having some growing pains as well Seymour is 4-11 last time I checked their schedule....they may have a tough time in the conference they are in with no weak non-conference teams to spice up their record.
  6. Who is Seymour's coach, and where did he coach at before?
  7. Justafan8 barb has forgotten more about high school football then %90 of the people on this board will ever know. SHE knows her stuff. She's not just some snot nose kid playing around on here. How ARROGANT can you be, invading a claiborne thread spouting off the virtues of the legend in her own mind barb and insinuating that claiborne fans are ignorant snot nose kids. Now you claiborne fans will understand why greeneville was the most despised team in the IMAC before the reclassification.
  8. Yeah well I'd rather lose a close one to ranked Sullivan South than roll over some winless 1a team....at least we can say we've been tested by the best. Teams i follow don't play 1a teams so i know not who you speak of, it must be some of your conference teams schedule.
  9. From reading this thread I doubt you will get a reliable answer it seems to me there are bitter cumberland gappers ( let me guess they probably lost to claiborne ) who have suddenly become greeneville fans, and greenville fans rehearsing the sunday favorite " HOW GREAT WE ARE ------- HOW GREEEEEAAAAAT WE ARE " neither of whom could reliably answer your question, but good luck. Well I'm a Greeneville fan and we are pretty good.....and as a rule we don't have to wait till Sunday to let ya know it.I still think I can get a pretty good answer to my question even from a "bitter" Gapper, who I'm sure had to listen to Claiborne's version of your so-called Sunday favorite. When you are good you don't have to tell folks they already know. The simple truth is you don't know if you are good or not every team you have played that was worth a dang you lost to, unless you want to count jeff county lets see what is their record? umm 4-5 nah wouldn't say they are particularly good either. you won't find out this week either, i guess we will see in the playoffs.

  11. I am not trying to knock coach Wright in any way....he is an outstanding coach, and learned much from his father whom I have known for many years. I have also followed basketball in the East Tennessee area for many years and your statement "just imagine what he could do at a program with talent" is way off base IMO. Look at the Canes schedule....I guarantee year in and year out the Canes have more talent than 90% of the teams they play. I will agree however that in the past ten years under Decker they have definately underachieved.....he had some fabulously talented teams from a physical standpoint that certainly did not play up to their potential.....I would have liked to have seen what coach Wright could have done with them.
  12. Great post war....I coached HS ball for 25+ years spent 60% of practice time on defense....kills me to watch so many teams that are so fundamentally weak on defense.....unwilling to block out unable to hedge & recover or position themselves to draw the charge. You want to stop the DDM with equal or less talent....play fundamentally sound defense and take care of the ball and you will be successful. DDM is just a variation of the many different types of motion offenses that have gained popularity since the mid 80's and the implementation of the three point line.
  13. ANY offense is hard to stop when a team has the shooters....ball handlers.....and athletes.
  14. Exactly....football shape and basketball shape are totally different as anyone who ever played both will attest to.
  15. smallie It's not a gimick, but scheme,IMO. I think it will be easier to teach than a motion offense that realize on screeens (ie flex) or on cuts (Princeton). Very simplistic in nature but has lots of options especially coming out of stalled fast breaks. You are right on smallie....it is very simplistic in nature and easy to teach and I might also add it has been in use on the playgrounds and in streetball for YEARS.....WOW I can't fathom why some feel it is some kind of NEW visionary offense.
