  2. Rob Marberry, FRA Andy Schumpert, Brentwood Braxton Bonds, CPA Jake Alsmiller, CPA Jacob Adcock, Brentwood Will Jennings, Overton And FYI - Mikinde London has transferred to out of State prep-school.
  3. Burton Sampson is actually a preferred walk-on for Belmont so hopefully he will be seeing some court time this year or next. From FRA, Dalton Ponchillia will be playing football at Mercer in Macon, GA, and Joe Madsen will be playing baseball for Christian Brothers in Memphis. Not basketball, but these guys were contributors on the court for DII-A for several years running and their athletic success should be acknowledged! And if anyone is interested in players from DII-A West, they have a number of D-1 commits. Good coverage of most of the Tennessee players going to the next level can be found at TennesseePrepHoops.com.
  4. It's not just the competition of the season's schedule but the every day training that he will be getting at HP that I'm sure is enticing to him. CPA can't provide that - at least not this year. And if you have ever met Jalen, you would know that ego has NOTHING to do with it. He is a stand up kid, great manners with a good head on his shoulders. I'm a big fan and wish him the best!
  5. Point well taken about the Ensworth game - except that the Fleming and Pope kids were in that game and the Fleming kid is always tough to beat. So add to the list a win over Boliver and MBA for FRA - not bad for a DII-A sized school. But the point is that from Christmas until tournament time they play really weak teams.
  6. Not a coaching problem at all and you are correct - FRA is loaded with talent. The problem lies in the weakness of the division in which FRA plays. They don't start having any real competition until tournament time. Their schedule prior to Christmas break includes some good teams - Ensworth (won), Baylor (lost by 3), JPII (lost by 5), Father Ryan (lost by 10) - which FRA held their own against. After Christmas, division play starts. FRA went undefeated from that point and won every game by at least 20, with their starters on the bench after the half or earlier. Hard to be prepared after that for teams in the West, who play a tough schedule all year. Not an excuse but simply an explanation of how this can happen.
  7. Interesting that the 2 games in the West last night were so close. Any idea how the East/Middle teams will match up against the West teams?
  8. DII-A - Rob Marberry. Marberry had just under 100 blocks last season as a sophomore - on pace to beat that this year as a junior. He will pass the 1000 points career mark before this season ends (junior). Consider he averages 16 points a game - and only plays an average of 19 minutes per game (due to their division being so weak and the bench players getting in for most of the 2nd half). His FRA team is undefeated (8-0) in district play and holds a 22-3 overall record this season so far. Marberry leads FRA as the toughest defensive team in the state.
  9. Brentwood High School. Great shooter and a greater kid.
  10. A - Alex Fountain (Wartburg) AA - Jalen Lindsey (CPA), Brock Rowan (Stone) AAA - Robert Hubbs (Dyer), Leron Black (White Station) DII-A - Rob Marberry (FRA), Burton Sampson (Knox Webb), Kessler Bell (FRA) DII-AA - Corn Elder (Ensworth), Reggie Upshaw (Baylor), Andrew Fleming (Ensworth)
  11. Same here - Rowan is a BIG problem for any opposing team - no matter how big he is! And not taking a THING away from Allsmiller because he is certainly a special shooter, but Rowan brings a complete package to the table - including a lock defense.
  12. Ramsey from DCA cannot be ignored. He alone is good for 5-10 points per game.
  13. Does anyone know yet how the playoffs will be scheduled? Will the D2-A East playoff against Middle and how will we all match up against the West? Totally confused this season on how that all works. And a well deserved congratulations to Austin - he's so much fun to watch!
  14. Gman - what was your take-away from the Ezell vs Knox Webb match-up?
  15. Kenny Cooper at FRA. Got a high basketball IQ and an all-around game. Watch him!
  16. Anybodys guess at this point. The only comparison is that FRA beat Harding at the FRA Christmas tournament by 3 points. The match-ups between FRA and DCA have been inconsistent. Of the 3 games they have played against one another this season, FRA won the first one by 23 points. DCA won the second by 3 and third game by 1. Maybe someone from the west can give us a more clear analysis after tonight's game! Good luck everyone!
  17. Congratulations to John Ross Glover - dropping in 41 in his final high school game. Best wishes at Lipscomb!!
  18. Thank you Gman - you represent everything that is right about youth sports. Looking forward to one more year watching your boy!
  19. So sorry to see Ezell out of the race. They are a solid, stand-up team with tons of talent. Congratulations to DCA.
