  1. I would think that Clarksville would have to be favored to win for a couple of reasons. #1 They are playing at home. (There is always an advantage of playing in the friendly confines, unless you are M.T.S.U.) #2 They have already beaten Springfield on the road.
  2. With the CC victory Harpeth moves to the top of the standings. Cheatham's defense was impressive in tonight's victory. The absence of the ballhandling of Jill Covington was noticeable in the game. Cheatham 60-39.
  3. Sycamore just took it to Cheatham in tonight's game. After an early lead by Cheatham, Sycamore took control and led by 23 at the half and cruised to a 22 point win, 69-47.
  4. Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. Good luck to COach Shockley and his Loretto Lady Mustangs.
  5. The margin of victory in the Sycamore/Stewart County game is impressive. I am not surprised at the way the War Eagle defense is playing. Coach Froedden is a coach who really stresses team defense. Seems like Sycamore is buying into his system well. Looking forward to the Sycamore vs Cheatham County game Friday night. This will be a measuring stick for the Cubs to see how much they have improved over the past month.
  6. I was very impressed with Waverly when I saw them play earlier this month. The night I saw them Mullinax didn't have a lot of points and Waverly was a real battle for Cheatham County at home. I look for Harpeth to beat them but I would be surprised if it is not a relatively close game. I would not want to draw the Tigerettes in the first round. They are a scrappy team and always seem to keep games pretty close. Cheatham saw that play out in the 06 districts.
  7. PageMan I know from looking at the record Loretto is having difficulty putting up a large number of wins. I also know this team was pretty thin on experience coming in to the season. Have you seen improvemnets in the Lady Mustangs as the season has progressed? Just curious as to whether Coach Shockley's team is beginning to improve as the season reaches the home stretch.
  8. War Eagles You are correct that Sycamore does have two very big games this week. Sycamore must make sure they are not looking ahead to Friday night's county rivalry matchup with Cheatham. They host a very determined team from Stewart County on Tuesday. West and Lancaster can be very dangerous, especially if someone else steps up for the Rebels. Sycamore should be favored in both contests.
  9. Big Country Especially when you consider the county charges the programs a $1.00 a mile to ride a school bus.
  10. Big Country Just like we have said with the boys tournament, the girls' district tournament shapes up to be a very fun event. Anybody can win on any given night. That is what makes tournament time so much fun in basketball. The change to playing home contest in the first round makes the regular season even more intriguing.
  11. Statebound 15 I listened to the broadcast of the Cheatham game as well. I never heard the announcers say anything about Dansby shutting down West. I did hear that he was making him work for his points and he, West, was still knocking down shots. 6 three point shots. Dansby had to sit out a large part of the 2nd half with foul trouble. He only played about 8 minutes of the second half and OT.
  12. Big Country I think the district is turning out pretty much as everyone thought it might before the year began. 5 teams are capable of winning this district. I am not sure there is a dominant team, but each game out amongst the top five is an interesting game. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out down the stretch. As always this district's tournament shapes up to be a fun one.
  13. Thanks for the info. flightmaster. How many games did the CreekWood?Fairview game go? How about the finals, did it go the distance?
  14. Who won the rematch between Sycamore and Harpeth last night? Did the winner of this match go on to win the district championship against the Creek Wood/Fairview winner?
  15. The David Lipscomb vs Cheatham County game can also be heard on the Internet at www.wqsvam790.com In the morning at 7:00 the replay of Sycamore at Pearl Cohn can be heard. A Sycamore or Cheatham County game can always be found on AM 790 each week of the season with replay of the other game at 7:00 AM.
  16. I would think that homecoming games would be preferred to be played against nonregion foes. That being said, it is not always possible. Another big decision that goes into deciding homecoming opponents has to be the number of fans the visiting team will bring. If the other team doesn't travel well to help make ends meet budget wise, sometimes that helps determine who you play for homecoming. Homecoming activities during the week can also be a huge distraction. It is not only the things that happen on game night that can take away from focus but the days that lead up to it as well.
  17. How good will the Cheatham County Cubs be this year? They lost a lot of players to graduation last year. Who will be the starting QB for the Cubs this year?
  18. Congratulations to the coaches and players on reaching this pinnacle!!! This is quite an accomplishment.
  19. Has anyone seen Cheatham County play this summer? They went to both weeks of the Shelbyville camp. I was curious how this young team looked in camp.
  20. My prayers go out to the May family and the Perry County family during this time of loss.
  21. Who does Hume Fogg play next after their 1-0 victory today over Alcoa?
  22. Congratulations to the Hume Fogg Lady Blue Knights on what has already been a very successful season. Now they are adding a trip to the State Tournament after defeating Camden yesterday 5-0. Good Luck in the state tourney.
  23. Congratulations to coach Brad Frasier and the Harpeth Indians for making the state tournament for a second straight year.
  24. My predictions are Lexington Covington Harpeth Anderson County
  25. Creek Wood will travel to Marshall County Hume Fogg will play at Camden.
