  1. You are not too far from my neck of the woods!! Thanks for the info about the district tournament. I will be back in UC visiting family next weekend and may try to see UC on Saturday. I did get to see them at siegel back at Thanksgiving. They looked pretty good, and the Stewart kid was injured so was not playing.
  2. Where is the district tournament, and when does it start?
  3. Went to see Fayetteville at Eagleville tonight. I want to make sure I am careful in choosing my words even though I was spot on when I said Nashville Christian did not have a chance against the Golden Tornadoes back in November. Anyhoo, I was not impressed with the #5 team in the state tonight. I have seen our Golden Tornadoes when they played at siegel the next day after the above FB game, and we would win by at least 20 points. They have three good players, and one of them actually got hurt in the game tonight (possible concussion). They have a player, ironically that is #42, that reminds me of Rick Mahorn. He is not a dirty player but his mannerisms remind me of him. He is left handed, and everything goes in that direction. The one that got hurt is #10 and is their best outside shooter. However, he can only hit them when he is wide open. UC's defense and press would put a strangle hold on their game. I have not seen Mitchell this year but did see them last year when they played Meigs County in the State Championship. I still believe the champion will come out of West Tennessee.
  4. Didn't bash. Just stated what I saw. Sorry I was not politically correct on my quote. I am not an ex-rep to help with the political correctness. I proudly represent Union City because it is a great system and am glad to brag about them just as you are about your school. By the way, love the "just saying" at the end.
  5. Wish both could experience the facilities at Union City. Very well supported for a public school system. Great indoor practice facility. The city has a turf management group that takes care of the football field and has won numerous national awards for their work. You will probably get to play on a PURPLE field as well! The home stands were just updated with the school colors and logo. Very proud of everyone's effort. I was a former teacher and school board member so got to see first-hand the support we received. Sorry to ramble but just very proud considering we are a Class A school system.
  6. I know this is a UC/LC thread but wanted to give a future scouting report. Went to the NCS/Wayne County game last night to see a potential opponent for UC (yes UC). The Givens kid who is a Mr. Football finalist and Ole Miss commit is WAY OVERRATED! He is tall and that is about it. He should have laid the wood on Wayne County but never saw him hit one guy. He is used on defense about 50% of the time but really is a waste. #35 Bituli is by far their best player. He is a big kid, but if he gets hit hard a few times he will lay down. He likes to overpower the smaller players but doesn't do much to the kids his own size. He is the main RB and MLB. Again, I know wthe thread topic but whoever wins this game will play NCS.
  7. Had an opportunity to attend the game to see a possible opponent for Union City. I was not impressed with the Givens kid. Number 71 for Wayne County gave him all he wanted tonight. As big as he is he should have been laying the wood to Wayne County, and he never did. Number 35 for NCS is definitely their best player. Showboated when running with the other back on the last TD. Enjoy it because he will not be doing that against Union City. After watching this game I really do not see anybody standing between UC and another gold ball.
  8. May need to wait for a new thread but......if UC and Columbia Academy meet who has home field?
  9. I had the opportunity to see the game as well. The coach from Houston County had emptied his bench with about 1:45 left in the game so Coach Suiter reciprocated. Houston County decided to put a couple of starters back in and press after they hit a couple of shots. As a former coach I was always under the impression when you emptied your bench you were conceding defeat. Coach Suiter may have been trying to get the attention of his subs by putting the starters back in, but the coach from Houston County also decided not to "throw in the towel." A friend of mine who was watching the game on the TSSAA feed had the same opinion as well as some others on this thread, and he used the terminology that it was "bush league." No, it was not "bush league" but the simple fact that the Houston County coach took that chance by re-entering starters and pressing.
  10. If you are from the same district you will not be in the same side of bracket. Only way to meet will be in the final.
  11. Is the drawing for coaches and media only at Double Tree?
  12. Jackson County and Clarkrange are automatically in separate brackets due to being from the same district.
  13. I have not seen them play, but they defeated Huntingdon, Dresden, Trenton, and Humboldt. These teams are all ranked in either Class A or AA. They had a very disappointing loss at the beginning of the season against McKenzie which was uncharacteristic of them. It was good that they got it out of their system early.
  14. Thanks for taking that the right way. Born and raised in UC and graduated in 1987. Our program has been blessed with talent and great local support. Our facilities are second to none especially for a Single A school. Look at UC Turf Management on the internet. The facilities would make some colleges drool.
  15. Easy for me to sit here and say the Golden Tornadoes will win it all, but.........OK! Victory for Union City against South Pittsburg in December!!
  16. Sure would have liked to have Union City back in there. They did have a big win against Huntingdon this past Friday.
  17. The man that was playing HS ball was at Ridgeway. Easy story to follow. All you had to do was Google it.
  18. Lake County has tremendous speed. I stayed for the first half of the last game tonight, and I am not sure Richland can match up against Lake County. Lake County is bigger and much faster. Sorry I will miss that game Friday, but it sure would be nice to see an all District 14A Final. GO LC!!
  19. I was there, and I definitely believe!!
  20. These refs are horrible, and they are supposed to be some of the best?!
