  1. Giles is very athletic...seems all their big guys run real well. But your team seemed to have a lot of speed at the skill positions. If you get the refs that called our game with GC you get a fairer shake than any other crew I've seen this year. The were actually all under 80 years old and in shape. What's amazing to me is how young all the teams are in the district. I think the only team we played that had a lot of senior starters was Page. Should be a lot of great wars next year.
  2. You probably don't want to appeal b/c then the TSSAA will see exactly what was going on that led to the fight. 56 was not an innocent bystander and he didn't have to fight. I'm not condoning 78's actions but he was provoked throughout the first half and tapes would show exactly why he exploded. And if you'll remember the fight happened right after our QB was unnecessarily body slammed into the ground knocking him unconcious. That's one of his best friends. He was a powder keg...but again...that doesn't make it right. For all I know he was provoking 56 too. But you might lose another player if that film showing our QB getting destroyed gets out. I bet 56 is a good kid. I thought he was a senior to be honest. So his future is bright. I also know that when there is a problem between two people they both have a role in it. But I am not ever going to call high school kids cowards. Football is aggressive and emotional and those emotions went unchecked for a moment Friday night. I know 78 regrets it. I suspect 56 does too. And I bet neither of them will do that again for a long time. I would appreciate it if you took the high road like the rest of your fans and not throw out words like cowardly again when you only know part of the story.
  3. LC won't have to worry about big 56 from GC this week. He and our LT got into it big time last week and both got ejected.
  4. Thanks WiseOldMan. You guys are certainly big and fast and should do very well the rest of this year. Appreciate y'all putting in your backups. It allowed my freshman son to get a lot of PT in the 4th quarter. Beautiful facility y'all play in as well. Good luck to the Bobcats and see you in Spring Hill next year.
  5. Settle down, it's a nice story....bunch of freshmen and sophomores trying to make their way. Besides, the only time Summit is talked about is a game week thread started by a fan of the opposing team. (The start of this thread openly mocks us) We actually play Spring Hill this weekend. I may have missed it, but I don't see a thread about that game. But you are correct, next year will be our second and last in 3/4A. When the TSSAA reshufles after next year we will be a 5A school based on projections. There may have to be another round re-zoning which could even put us into 6A. Yes, Fairview will win easily. I just hope they pull their starters like Giles Co. did once the mercy rule kicks in.
  6. Thanks for the tip dadtimesfive. Hope you are able to make it to the game.
  7. Here's my take on the game having seen both teams play at our field: LC beat us 46-0 and could've put up 60 but they played their backups for most of the 4th quarter and took a knee instead of going into the endzone as time was expiring. MC played their starters the entire game and may not have put up 35 on us if our RDE remembers to stay at home and our CB turns around. But I will say we improved enormously in the month between the games. So the score comparisons may be misleading. LC seemed to have more overall team speed. MC has the fastest player we've seen tho...think it was #3. But I think he is the same player who fumbled twice. If I remember correctly, LC was bigger overall and has the better QB. But #79 for MC is a freaking BEAST. I hope he is a senior. Both teams have great kicking games but if it comes down to a FG I think the MC kid has more leg and accuracy. I've also have not seen a high school punter get as much hangtime as MC's. Also a quick shout out and big thanks to #42 for MC. We've been treated with a lot of class throughout this year but he especially stood out. Everytime I looked he was helping someone up or patting a helmet. #41 was gracious as well for MC. I think the teams are evenly matched and will not be surprised at all by the outcome; regardless of who wins. P.S. Big thanks to LCPanthers and LewisCoPanthers for your support on this board.
  8. LOL...You are hereby designated as an honorary Spartan for the Fairview game...smack away! The game is at Fairview so thanks for the heads up on the PA announcer. How annoying. And it's a shame if they don't pull their starters. It's a recipe for disaster if they don't and a key player gets hurt in a meaningless game heading into the playoffs.
  9. We'll be eating down there for sure. Thanks for the tip. We'll have a few more fans in attendance than usual for an away game as the school is organizing a bus ride for students who want to come down to the game. So stock up the concessions as well. And I appreciate your words about Summit's future. We have a core group of about 20 sophomores who went 15-1 in two years of middle school. They were not well coached at Independence last year. But they are dedicated and committed. It's rubbing off on the freshman and it shows. Our freshman team....which is basically our second string varsity team... beat Creek Wood's JV and Fairview's freshmen teams. They lost to Dickson County's JV team which looked like a varsity team by the score of 21-6. My son said that he could tell how much easier it was playing down after knocking heads with upperclassmen all year long. So it will pay off and I can tell you no one has given up or gotten down about this year. They are excited for the future.
  10. Hahaha....we'll get there! I think I'm the only active Summit fan here at the moment though. And it's hard to talk smack when your 0-7 varsity team has only one kid with a driver's license. It's also hard to be mad when every head coach of the district opponents we've played so far has been extremely complimentary of our team after the games. I even had a coach (real tall guy) come up to me after the Hickman County game and tell me how bright our future is and that we didn't play like a team with just freshmen and sophomores. Should we win our two non-disrict games at the start of next season I might get a little froggy and stir the pot. Until then though I am going to just hope that we give Spring Hill a game and survive Giles County and Fairview.
  11. Props to my Summit Spartans for finishing fourth in the district in our first year of existence with just freshmen and sophomores.
  12. We hope to see alot of your backups as well. Last week was the first time our opponent kept their starters in the entire game.
  13. A bit younger than that actually. The OL was supposed to be all sophomores but two have been injured and are just getting back. So two freshmen have started on the OL all year. The next two out of three off the bench are both freshmen as well. Obviously most of the OL play the DL. And four non linemen freshmen play extensive minutes on defense. There is size but not the strength and experience players get being in weight room and on the field for three years. Our team had no spring practice and no weight training until the new building opened in August. So yeah, it'a JV team for sure, but one that is getting better every week. Our QB is a baseball phenom with a big arm. Our top RB and WR played as freshmen for Independence. We were tied with Hickman County into the second quarter last week. I have no delusions that we have a chance this week. But the future is bright. We have Spring Hill at home in a couple weeks...maybe we can make that a game. We won't get many chances in this district for series leads tho as next year is probably our last in AA. Summit opened with 540 students this year (so it's amazing that we had 60 players on the football team) But in two years we're projected to have a population of over 1300. So we'll probably be playing in Indy's district in AAA as a 5A school. The Summit players know the deal. But they also know that no JV is getting the experiences they are getting. As my son told me..."I get four years of Friday night football. And in two years we are going to be difficult to deal with." I agree.
  14. It will be interesting. EH will probably be the youngest team next to our own that we play this year. That will take away a lot of the discrepancy we've encountered. The common opponent was Loretto and we lost while EH won. It will be close if Summit can pick a few of all the passes coming our way. A few pick 6's and this game could go either way.
  15. My two cents as Lewis County and Page were our (Summit's) most recent opponents. I think they are about evenly matched. Page seems bigger overall while LC seems to have more team speed tho #2 for Page is a burner. I'd say LC has the better QB but someone told me Page didn't play their starter. All I know is #5 played the entire game at QB for PHS. Page faced our second string QB and RB b/c Summit's starters did not play due to being knocked out in the LC game. So it's hard to say how the defenses factor into this. I think we had more first downs against LC. Page played their backups almost the entire game while LC played their starters longer. Both teams took knees against us late in the game so the final scores aren't reflections of how things really went. I think it is going to be a war and a great game.
  16. I don't mind calling bs on you. Check your film again. LC was flagged 15 yards for a personal foul. The foul was an extremely late hit on our QB. Surely your film shows that. And look again on either the first or second TD run. There was an obvious attempted trip by your player. If it wasn't 13 on either of those I apologize. But it was someone wearing your jersey. And he was the talk of our fans for the way he was conducting himself. Your snide pom pom remark is low class as well. Our freshmen and sophomores are well aware of the difficult task of playing upperclassmen all year. We didn't have a choice as Indy kept our Junior and Seniors. And we had to jump right in playing varsity b/c of the scheduling cycle. Otherwise we would have had to wait two years and play just JV. It will make us better and we don't mind good shots...had a few ourselves as your film shows. Must have been embarrassing getting blown up by a JV'er. But what we do mind is poor sportsmanship. LC had plenty of that.
  17. Summit fan here....kudos to the coach for acting with class and taking a knee at the end of the game when he had a chance to pad the score. And though I am new here, I would imagine it is taboo to specifically call a player out. So I will just say to the young man who gave a blatant late-hit cheap shot to our QB at the end of the first half, that was the complete opposite of class. It also wasn't the first time he took liberties in the game. I saw one other late hit that was not called as well as an attempted trip of a would be tackler on a TD run. So to future opponents of LC, keep your head on a swivel when the player with the unlucky number comes calling.
  18. As a parent of a Summit football player I apologize for the poster trying his best to make us look foolish. Since this is an Indy thread I'll say that Dyson has stated in the paper that Summit wanted to play the Eagles this year but Dyson didn't think it would be good for his team. I tend to agree. No reason to risk injuries in what would amount to a scrimmage against a 4A school playing only freshman and sophomores. There is nothing to be gained for IHS. Summit and Indy will meet plenty in two years when the Spartans are re-classified into Indy's region. And as a great friend of the father of #53 for the Eagles, I want to wish Indepedence the best of luck this year. I'm glad his boy is back in action. They live down the street and I've watched the son grow from the SH Raiders into a big, mean, talented, lineman. It's a shame Spring Hill was split the way it was. I was looking forward to my son playing with #53. But it is what it is and I look forward to my four years of Friday night football. Good luck against Blackman!
