  1. good luck to the south pitt program, i am sure that after the long wait you will be rewarded with a coach that will spike the football fever that exists in marion county, with the quality of program you all have you deserve it
  2. not a bad idea but we have a full schedule, maybe if we are both fortunate both teams will get to meet in week 11, 12 or 13
  3. this has truly been awesome entertainment, again it will truly go along way to see who will be finally hired, with over "100" applicants the second time you should still get a great head coach with a great record...people that should not get the job are assistants, guys that have been out of coachiing for a while...if that happens you have been let down...again with daffy the duck in charge you can ring up atleast 6 or 7 wins a year, for a while, meaning anyone can drive the car for a while, but eventually it will catch up to year with the other schools in the county making up some ground. I am sure coach wilson will be the principal if that is what he wants....it has truly been an odd time at sp, i know the coach at north jackson suddenly resigend his new position, any possiblitly of him taking over at south pitt? Maybe it will be someone from the same region or close around...the hire will go a very long way, for certain south pitt could have had some high quality head coaches
  4. where has coach Moore been coaching for the last few years?has he been a head coach, an offensive or defensive coordinator for someone in the last five years...i just lost track of what he was doing and wondered....
  5. sometimes moore is less......just wanted to get in on the fun
  6. let's take an uneducated guess at forecast the future of how things shake out......i think the job will be given to either one of the assistants, probably stone who wants it to the most, or coach Grider will take back over on an intermin basis to a new coach can be selected after next season...probably not, with the feeling already fragile on the coaching staff and the budget extremely tight not only at marion county but ever where the position probably goes inside which allows for one or possibly no extra teaching position unless a position is vacated by someone going into an administrative position...hence the head coach will in fact being heading spring practice and the kids will not be penalized...could be and probably totally wrong...people will accept an insider much faster than they would and outsider and it keeps the possiblity of someone doing what they did first the first time....sh
  7. we inquired about just such a thing Roy but no one called us back
  8. the coach from riverdale is a great coach also, i think it will be a big plus that gore has roots with brentwood...like i said he is a great motivatior and a super guy....if adelyott went to brentwood he would probably make a little more money and would not face the crazy expectations at riverdale
  9. meant 12%, not 12,000.00 dollars , sorry. giles county for the right person is a great job, low cost of living, command of most of the athletes in the county and great support by the administration, great facilities and incredible community support...all great things
  10. finally, in metro you are closer to being correct, metro salary with masters 58, 290 per year and i believe the coaching supplement is close to 12 which works out to just under 7,000,.00 per years, coaches can earn up to a total of either 20 or 22 % of their yearly salary if they coach other sports, makes for a long year but is done many times.....just saying that those two communities can deliver a little more money for sometimes less work...i did not mean to lie about the salary....one pays because of their increased affluence and the other pays a litte more because the teaching situation is a little harsher and also it is in an urban setting
  11. williamson county teacher salary with 21 or more years, a tad over 64,000 dollars for 2013 year, ad in a coaching supplement that is somewhere between 6 and 7,000 without coaching any other sports will put you over 70,000 oer year
  12. I don't mean to disagree but if you go to willlaimson county schools and look at the salary schedule for a teacher lets say with more than 20 years and a masters degree plus the head coaching supplement you will find it either just under 70,000 or just over...true the head coaching supplement is not as big as some others but the money is made in the teaching salary and that is not including any type of supplement for weights or other sports
  13. jay gore would be a great hire, great character guy, very knowledgeable about the kids and a great motivatior
  14. congrats to rhea county, sorry about the wrong info, got a good coach
  15. congrats to rhea county for a great hire, sorry about being wrong, guess i got bad information...congrats to coach pemberton and his family
  16. i predict returning home for the third time, a good coach and person.....JF or in an upset JP, JA...all three are home town boys right...cain ballard at greenville would be a grand slam but has it pretty good up at greenville...good luck and look forward to a 6-4, 7-3 season, maybe a playoff birth...great schedule, esp the region schedule
  17. sorry, meant you are well off enought that money does not have a huge impact on your decisions
  18. several of the richer alabama countys such as madison, and then several of the counties in tennessee, namely williamson, davidson, somewhat rutherford, have pay systems that will pay coaches with years of experience close to 80,000 a year, assistants sometimes high 60's, low 70's..... i guy with 20 years plus with a masters would like someone else said make around 53,00...there is some summer work there but will still struggle mightly to make it even close to 60,000...no matter what is said if a person can make 15-20,000 per year they have to atleast think of what that can do for their family in the present and their future in retirement...many times when a coach is successful and leaves he is hated by the communnity and many times he has to take care of his family...no matter how much you like a place or that we all like our job...truth is most people if offered 15 - 20k a year raise would go in a minutes unless it was a long way away, if you say no you are very well usually or just so ingrained where you live that no one can make you leave home
  19. just a thought that might make pirate fans feel a little bit better, you guys may have landed a really top notch coach but due to the timing the new coach will ride out the rest of the year, and contract and the school they are presently working out. the pirates have enough coaches on staff to go through a spring camp if needed and then the other guy takes over at the end of may....you have to think that vic and the powers that be will be very attentive to the second hire and have it nailed down like shutters in a tornado...for that fact they could come out with a big hire tomorrow but the other scenario couldl also happen, you all will get a good coach one way or another and since there is a great debate of having a teaching slot open until the principal ship is decided they would have no where to go until the end of their contract is up in may anyway...further than 50 or 60 miles away would make for a very long commute if you were teaching at another school meaning that football practice might not start until 4 or 4:30...i bet you have someone good coming, it is just logistically a tough situation for a coach to leave school with a little more than a month of school left, especially if there is no money in the budget to pay them...just another thought from a man desperate to start spring football himself
  20. mr. burley, the only thing i do worse than bowl is grow hair...on my head...now eating hotdogs....i'm your boy there....lol...yes sir, mr. ambassador, i do not want to get banished otherwise i talking to the deer outside the house
  21. again, and let me make this clear, i am not a candidate for this job, my wife and i have added on to our house although we do hope to sell it and build one of our own. We potentially have the best team coming back since 1999, potentially i say. If you look at the other posts around the blogs you will see that i comment on lots of jobs and some of the hires that are taking place, do i lobby no i just state opinion and sometimes gossip that i hear....i dont go looking up people although i do know that some have a wife that teaches and LES, works at Tullahma and coaches i believe bowling.....but i would never say who that is, people dont like my offense and they dont like my defense, i dont think even my dad does...again sorry for having an opinion and stating things that should be true about what you want in hiring a coach
  22. everything of course is always gossip but i have heard that the rhea county people are very pro-active and really plan on committing to the football program and making it successful, they have some great applicants it seems that they are focused on rhea county products, really not a bad one in the bunch...good luck eagles, the next couple of years could be really great
  23. Fitzgerald, Allen, Pemberton would all be great hires and an instant boost for the program, the tough part will be how to match money with the hamilton county and willliamson county school systems. But all decisions are not always based on money and sometimes that makes a big difference..with upgraded facilities and a much better region would be a quick turnaround for most coaches...weakest 6-A region in tennessee, should contend for the region championship each and every year...hixson, chatt central and brentwood are all very good jobs, i know central has struggled for a while but will be back
  24. I think you are right in many ways purple grad, pay can always be a restrainer, i do think they will eventually find a position for the person that they feel is right for the head coaching position. Mr. ambassador no i am not a part of this process but feel south pitt has a lot of positives that would make it a final destination for a coach if that is such a thing: good athletes, an administration that backs football, great history and traditon, a town crazy for football, nice restaurants and very close to a good size city, never dismiss the power of cracker barrel...lol...as for me Mr. Babiec i am no one special. i love football and it is my only hobbie which tells you that i must have a screw loose...i love reading coacht....i am a numbers guy and just wonder if out of the 140 or 100 was that the best guy for the job overall, the answer was no...you did not have to go out of state, you did not have to hire an assistant coach....as far as me being bitter, i guess yeah, my dad always said i have a face for radio...i want south pitt to get an awesome head coach and i hope that we are lucky enough to play them either week two or three next year in november
