  1. right now, they are maxing and if they went out for spring practice today, including the ones in spring sports the numbers would be about 91. The freshmen are working out on Fridays and their numbers have been consistenly between 45 - 50. I am sure that those numbers will diminish some before spring ball because they always do. The kids are working very hard and have really bought into the workouts so far.
  2. it looks like ten to fifteen are new kids that did not play last year. I agree with you everything does change when the pads go on. Hopefully everyone will stay but 55 to 60 is a good number to coach
  3. Well the thought process is far as the coaches are concerned is that everyone is working hard from kids to coaches to get better everyday. People being used to the best of their abilities whether it be coaches or players is the key. Change for change sake is the same as it being said that getting older makes you wiser, sometimes it just makes you older! As far as boyd is concerned it is great that there is another alternative to go to school and play 8 man football in a start up program. If a parent thinks that taking there soon to boyd is a great decision, more power to them. Things are changing at warren county by change is not fast and normally takes some time to do. Parents will do what they think is best for their child but if they leave it will not be due to same old ways of doing things. The program is working hard and has averaged almost 70 players per workout with 10-15 more playing spring sports. Yesterday there were 44 upcoming freshmen for workouts at the high school. They worked hard and had a good time. If there questions about how the program is run and how your son is being used please feel free to come by and talk to coach smith directly. The talk of transferring to boyd or another county will not make things any better. the best players will play. the same players that come to practice every day and work out during the summers. This staff cannot be lumped in with any others until time has shown the same things are going on as before. Now is not the time to sow seeds of discontent. the program is on the up swing and it is going to stay that way

  5. Warren county has 1 opening for a freshmen football game. Would rather prefer to play a home game of possible. If interested please contact coach scott smith at 615-210-9707 or by email at pioneersports64@gmail.com dates are: Aug 28th Sept 25th Oct 2nd
  6. coach trapp has done a great job with dekalb county and it will be a tough opening opponent for warren county, their will be no easy opponents for the pioneers, cant wait for game night!!!!!
  7. the person that starts at qb for warren county against DeKalb county will be the best person that gives the pioneers a chance to win. The competition for the qb job will span over the course of spring practice, summer 7 on 7's and fall camp complete with scrimmages. As with all teams, great quarterbacks have leadership, poise and a super work ethic. I would not be surprised if several different people played quarterback for the pioneers on opening night. bottom line the person that gives WC the best chance to win will be in the shotgun versus dekalb county
  8. could not agree more freeagent11, coach austin will do a great job with the raiders!
  9. Smith applied for this position 4 times over the last decade. He does not plan on going anywhere anytime soon. It will be both a huge challenge and a huge opportunity First official day on the job is Monday, February 10th. As far as support, the players, the coaches, the parents, the administration, the school board and the superintendent have all been in one 100% from the beginning. It will not be easy and it will not be overnight but everyone is commitied to working hard and seeing it through
  10. can anyone say why the old head coach left, things seemed to be turning the corner, good guy, wish him luck wherever he went
  11. Let me big the first to offer a big congrats to coach Jeremy Austin , very strong rumor that he in fact will be the next head football coach at moore county. Good luck next year to the 2014 raiders!
  12. good luck Joe! those kids deserve a good guy who will work hard for them. Joe will work hard
  13. Coach Jim Wilson was an incredibly human being who influenced tons of kids both in the classroom and on the football field. Always seemed to have a soft smile no matter what problem he encountered. Prayers to the Wilson family.
  14. could not agree more wingman, they do not make them any better than Doug Price. He is without the best offensive line coach i have ever met and he is even a better man than coach, and that is hard to say. If whoever gets the head job does not choose to include coach price in their plans will be making a big mistake. He is a huge reason for the sucess of the last four years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Coach Austin could find a way to make it work, I do not think he would have to give up one to do the other, neither program would have to suffer...I think he is the man for the job, pull the trigger men.
  16. Moore county is in great hands with coach Austin, coach price and coach king. I have never seen a group of kids that would work harder or give more. The administration, parents and community are incredibly supportive and their tradition in football will only continue to grow. I hope coach Austin gets the head job, he has worked long and hard and has earned the respect of the kids who kill themselves to make him happy! good luck raiders and coach luck coach Austin!
  17. Congrats Coach K and the Forrest family, you no doubt hired the right guy, great defensive mind
  18. Warren County, located in McMinnville, TN is looking for some opponents to scrimmage in the spring and the fall of the 2014 season. They are open to both hosting and traveling. If intersted please contact Coach Scott Smith at pioneersports64@gmail.com Thanks!
  19. Prayers to coach Wilson, he has touched so many young men's lives over his long career. The only thing I can say he has been a great football coach but an even better man. You will be in our thoughts.
  20. i know nothing, and a i apologize, i had only heard about coach coleman, i have no idea about anything going on with the assistants, did not mean to imply anything else, sorry
  21. I have heard from several sources that it is indeed a done deal, on how many if any assistants he will be able to take with him, look for official word later today or sometime tomorrow
  22. i do not want to argue and hope very much that your head coach stays, he and his staff do a great job. I do know that moving from marshall county to Williamson county will involve a significant bump in pay, it does not show in the base pay scale but the coaching supplement is much more than at marshall county. I do know that having worked in Williamson county schools. It is never easy for a coach to leave one school for another. If he leaves you sound like you have another guy ready to go, good luck rockets!
  23. well if it is the truth they are getting a fine young football coach. He did a great job this year at Forrest and I know people will be upset with him leaving but he will easily make 15 - 20 thousand more dollars a year. There facilities are top rate and he will be missed in 9-A next year if it is true. When all is said and done a coach has to be best for him and his family. I am sure he did not make promises just to do it. Situations change, if so good luck in the future, I hate it for Forrest but they will survive. If he stays it will be great for the entire region because it will add competition to the entire region.
  24. both guys are great coaches, ron has a body of work at Hillsboro and Riverdale and Jay, after many years of being a very successful defensive coordinator has worked hard to make the Mcgavock program back into a respected program. Both guys are hard working and have tons of energy. good luck to whoever gets the job, it is the plum assignment in Nashville right now and has always had tons of community support
