Made some progress from LV game. Last week of good practice carried over some. Still got a ways to go but the coaches felt they improved since our last game. We keep improving come November we will be hard to deal with.

Probably so but the last one in 2005 was a gifted W. Kid was 2 yards short. Still I think most thought we were the favorites for sure. I was just hoping you didn’t try to say 2014 or 15 when we were down and y’all were loaded.

Starkey is from Hamburg. SP kids that go to Jasper only to come back to SP doesn’t make them Jaspers kids lol. Y’all are awesome in little league. We def have some catching up to to do there. It’s impressive I will admit that. Not having parks and rec has hurt us. Better hope we don’t get what we are striving for though.

Just curious. When is last time you think Marion out coached SP?

SP kids will grow. Jaspers will too but they aren’t gonna be 6’6 300 across the board on lineman lol. Rewind 4 years ago Braden Sanders and Alex Nunes looked like the next coming of Eric Westmoreland and was one of biggest kids for both in 8th grade and JJ Beene & Jared Stone was looking like they might end up being 5’4 & 5’8- 5’9 by the time they were upper class men. Will be interesting in seeing how these two groups compare in a few years. Some kids just develop faster than others. Size in little league and Jr High wins games on its on. It helps in High School but thats not always the case. That age group better hang on to Pickett and hope he doesn’t come home where he belongs. Without him that would have all that size and no speed. “THE” University of South Pittsburg will be just fine.

Those lineman are abnormal for their age. I’m not sure how much bigger some of them can get but for the next 4 years the Warriors will have some monsters up front. That group is men against boys. SP line will close the gap over the years but will def be undersized up front in this series after 2021. Pickett was still biggest difference maker. Should have some close battles over next few years. Will be interesting in seeing which kids are gamers that show up and rise to a big game atmosphere. So far it’s been a lackadaisical start to the season for us and they are trending up. Good luck to both teams tonight! Nobody said anything about lazy but if kids don’t know who to block or never block the right person due to not knowing who to block its challenging. Trust me I’ve probably been as big a critic as there is so far. It’s kinda like if you have Bo Jackson at RB but if you call sweep right and he keeps running left. What if he is reminded before the play and 8 out of 10 still runs left? You just can’t play him. Now that’s just an example so hopefully nobody takes that as me saying the kids don’t know their right from their left but you gotta know where to go to get on the field. Either at practice or in games the 1st string has consisted of either Walters, Gamble & Cagle at Center. At guard have played Moss, Stone, Reynolds & Rico. Tackle spot have played Cagle, Gamble, Reynolds, Gio & Rico. Tight end have played Cagle, Allen, Jenkins. The staff has looked at every lineup possibility so far and Josiah is 100% a defensive player right now. Idk maybe some wristbands with plays on them would help. I know it’s frustrating seeing our offense sputter at times with so many weapons. They will get it together sooner rather than later. They are about to get embarrassed soon if they don’t. They have the ability to be as good or as great as they want to be they just gotta keep getting better.

Pirates are bigger and faster than the Warriors but which team will be focused and ready to go to war for 4 quarters? That’s always the biggest question this time of year.

It’s not that easy. 5 best lineman based on knowing what to do and who to block? 5 most talented lineman but don’t necessarily know what to do or who to block? 5 best lineman based on just size? The film don’t lie. Unfortunately thats what this team is dealing with. It’s just a work in progress and will be most of the year. Crazy talented and large but short on experience. Hopefully they will at least get it together when it’s needed the most.

The big guy played a lot last night at DT. He still adjusting to playing defense but he will get there.

2007 would put it on this team right now but that team returned about 8/9 kids on each side of the ball. The Oline on this team is just a work in progress. They will figure it out eventually but this team doesn’t have a Robert Robinson and not quite as much speed as the 2007 team had but what this team has short on speed they make it up in size. With the size and numbers our team could pass for a 3A team but so far we look like Tarzan but play like Jane. No doubt the future is bright though.

I hope they can just flip it on in a few weeks and I’m wrong. Some of our grown looking men are gonna be playing some grown looking men so if they don’t they will get embarrassed. This team can be as good as they want to be. Nobody in 1A has the talent we have but talent doesn’t always guarantee you anything.

As much as most us SP fans would enjoy another 60 point win I personally hope Marion challenges us and makes our kids respond. This team desperately needs it. So far we just show up and go through the motions.

Freshman kicker is gonna be best school has ever had. Hit a 46 yarder this week. This team has as much or more talent than any team we have had. Trying to put it all together and figure it out is tricky part.

Offense better find an identity and become great at something because we are struggling against inferior talented teams. That’s not a knock on our 3 opponents but the difference is glaring. Nobody on our team knows who to consistently block and even with all the talent we have in the passing game it still isn’t much of a threat. It almost appears we are trying to do too much too soon. It’s odd because in practice the kids know their assignments then come game time its like it’s not retained. I realize a lot of kids are playing this year that didn’t get to play much last year and some experienced kids are playing new positions and then a few learning new positions as well but we just look very average on offense. I know this sounds crazy after a 55-6 score but we better figure it out or this team is gonna get its feelings hurts in a couple of weeks. Defensively we are gonna be fine but offensively you can’t rely on your superior playmakers to just make plays and break tackles against the better competition. This Marion game is gonna be closer than most expect if the last two weeks is the best we got.

Lol your delusional. We spent all summer recruiting our own kids from North Alabama team down the road. That was after spending Spring recruiting our kids from Jasper after one of MC’s coaches kept sending text messages to 2 of our players. Which they shared with our HC. Don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house buddy. You best get off coach T and worry about your team instead of ours. Now go put that pipe down.

Jo & Gio might be best duo in 1A if they keep working. Offensive line has to be more physical. Hunter Frame out of the spread is scary. Lots of weapons to play with though. Will be somebody different each week

The majority of these kids have played together their entire lives. Yes, we have some new kids, but that’s no reason to take away from a great group of kids that have ALWAYS won. They beat Dunlap by about 50 as 8th graders. Seems to me tonight could have been expected. Also, last I checked the Detroit kid doesn’t even start on either side of the ball and also I might add we don’t have a Coach Jones on staff. It’s always easy to identify the lifetime loser coaches like yourself. Get the lube ready come week 4!!! .....It’s coming

I shouldn’t have indicated that it couldn’t be done only that it would be difficult. You can juggle teaching positions around if other teachers are willing to shift and are certified to do so as well but you can’t just place people in classrooms teaching subjects that can’t teach. Also depends on when that particular coach is available to meet and prepare for games and practices. Malone also lasted just one year. AFTER they hired him they found out he didn’t have his license. It was also getting closer to spring practice time so rather than Whitwell go through a coaching search again he stayed for 1 year. Whitwell’s way of doing things isn’t the best example to use when discussing structure within a football program.

In 2013 they went 13-2 and State Runner Up actually.

This isn’t a possibility because Stone does not teach at SP or even in Marion County. Also the teaching position has to be filled for the next assistant coach. This isn’t college football where you can just name a guy a coordinator without it matching up with the school. WS drives from Chattanooga daily for practice typically after it’s already started. Hire will be someone that is at the school full time that can fill both positions (teaching & coaching) and shoulder responsibilities throughout the week.

Reactive<Proactive

Everybody has asked that question. That’s not rocket science and sure it (Jasper) has been a hot topic on here with a “few” SP fans but we have a coach that’s been here for 20 years unlike MC. Meanwhile you guys haven’t had a coach last more than 4 since KC, that’s not a dig that’s just the facts. If people share your thoughts “wondering who will replace Grider” as the same as Marion’s speculation and divide amongst the community then no wonder you all are in the mess your in. A town united isn’t the same as a town divided.

The only thing a Warrior fan should be concerned with is will Jasper get a coach that will unite the town. Not worry about SP. Marion’s situation is a dumpster fire right now with the community and they hopefully can bring in somebody that both sides are good with. As as far as SP though nobody knows when Grider is leaving. The captain will leave when he chooses. He has more than earned that right but when he does I can assure you there will be a plan in place prior to that decision.
