Lol come on now I was at both and saw the same team Friday but also saw much better play calling against SP. Your comments don’t surprise me though since you made the statement during the game Meigs was out hitting SP and you felt sorry for us lol. Statements like that is about as homer as it gets yeti. Meigs could’ve ran down Greenbacks throat the entire first half when you guys played and instead your HC insisted on trying to throw the ball when you got past midfield. Credit to him though as he figured it out later in game but the difference was glaring. Those massive holes though were simply not there Friday against SP for Houdini to operate. Was your entire front 7 sick because my biggest takeaway from Fridays game was that SP is very stout up front and offensively should’ve played more power football like they did in the 4th when they just ran off tackle and crammed it down Meigs throat with #2. I get #19 was sick but he still looked like the same crazy good stud I witnessed when I came to the GB game. Nobody mentioned that one of our best is out for season so I guess we should say we wish Meigs had got to play us at full strength too lol. Yes you guys did have some drops but that’s part of it just like us fumbling when we were driving to go up 20-0. Im not taking anything away from Meigs. Y’all have a great team but just ran into another great team and got your butt kicked Friday so just take it on the chin, keep getting better and then go get ready to battle Tyner and then TC.

Meigs is a great 2A school that is twice the size of SP with a STUD at QB.. Huge difference in depth typically and even with SP having abnormal depth we were down to our 4th & 5th defensive tackles because our guys couldn’t stop cramping. Meigs dwarfed us up front and still got out hit all night by a much smaller team. Even with houdini at QB Meigs couldn’t get it going because our defense was swarming all over him. Their big offensive line was holding so bad our defensive end #24 had to switch jerseys because it was ripped off of him. Both scoring drives Meigs had SP gift wraps them 2-15 yard unsportsmanlike penalties on them. Last drive we just played power football and crammed it down their mouth. SP was clearly the better team and “should” be the team to beat in the east in 1A. Is that better???

Nobody, he didn’t start until our fullback/linebacker went down. Him and the other fullback are interchangeable until the former got hurt. Nelson is the more talented of the two but he is still learning the position after playing wing at MC. I realize this was intended to be a jab because of the transfers you all have received but you will have to try harder. Unfortunately we didn’t get a transfer that is as heavily relied on like #6 is for y’all.

Thats just their offense. They don’t feature a premier RB. At least not from what I saw last night. Everything starts and stops with Swafford. If Meigs had another threat they could’ve ran on Greenback all night. I felt like Meigs trying to throw it during 2nd quarter on a couple drives made them fizzle out then that allowed Greenback time to score before the half. This isn’t a shot at Greenback but Meigs was the better team. Greenback is a scrappy team though and their new QB Carnes makes all the difference. Give him time and he will find somebody. Kid is a player. Massive pickup for the Cherokees this offseason. Without him they would not be a threat in East imo but with him and Willis they can score with anyone if they stay healthy. Willis and Swafford are both as good as advertised with Carnes right behind them. He has a cannon and can spin it when he has time. My take away from the game is that both teams are likely semifinal teams come November with shot at representing the East. Swafford is best player in 1A & 2A and deserves to be mentioned as one of best in state. Kid is a baller. The East still goes through Greenback as long as they keep their QB healthy. Their team can’t afford injuries as they appear to have little depth. Showdown with Pirates will be a good one come November.

No it’s gotta be 365 days. 1st day per Tssaa was the day after his last game so isn’t eligible until Sunday.

Missed the game but watched film twice now. Offensive line really wasn’t bad after rewatching majority of plays. Some missed blocks but biggest issue was the backs run blocking were getting blown up in the edge by the outside linebackers all night. Defensively we fly to the ball and Watertown has most likely the best RB SP will see all season. Also appeared from hearing their coaches scream the plays before ball was snapped Watertown schemed us up and was really prepared for our base stuff (which is all we ran). Even with the miscues we still beat a very talented team that will make some noise in 2A this year. When will adjust and continue getting better. At the end of the day this is still just a scrimmage. Apples to oranges when comparing to an actual game week when we have other team 100% scouted. The hype is real though. Up to the kids and coaches to deliver the goods. Should be a fun season with the potential to be a special one.

Been that way forever. 94, 95,98,99,03,07 and every other great team was all torched by teams in passing game. Difference was those teams had stupid talent and after D got 3/4 stops the offense would boat race the other team. We have always struggled with the pass because most teams at our level can’t do it consistently.

Word travels fast when kids family schedules visit with guidance counselor. His mom is a teacher at SP as well

IF Greenback has a defense they will win imo. Greenback most def has the athletes to match Whitwell and if Whitwell blitzes house they will get burned. If Greenback still had RB from last year I think it would get out of hand but they don’t and Greenback just lost big WR so it will most likely be a tight game. Good luck to both teams!

Pirates had chances to win but didn’t. We outplayed them, out hit them. 1st half we pounded them and there wasn’t anything they could do about it. Then in 2nd half we had 3 stops and each time we tried misdirection or buck sweep and was tossed backwards and put us in hole in 2nd and long situations. Whitwell blitzed house all night and only thing we had to remedy it was line up man on man and punch them in mouth. Imo we got away from that and just didn’t do it enough in 2nd half. Hate we lost a game that imo was there for the taking but we didn’t make plays when we had chance to and Whitwell did so kudos to them. No matter how much you control game or outplay someone you can’t let teams chunk it up in 3rd and 4th and long all night and expect to win. Tigers got clutch passing plays everytime they needed too and it was the equalizer in the game. Double OT imo Pirates should’ve given the ball to our Senior RB 4 plays in a row but what do I know. In famous words of TN fans “there is always next year”. Good luck Tigers next week!

In my humble opinion this year’s Pirates try to do too many different things offensively. Last year the offense was more basic but better. This year we have some young weapons we are trying to use and create mismatches but that’s not what we are best at “yet”. I think in order for us to have a shot this team has to do what we do best and run right at them with Raulston in charge. You don’t win games relying on Sophomores to be gamebreakers late in playoffs. This year was supposed to be Raulston’s team and win games with a seasoned offensive line up front. Somewhere someway we lost that. If we keep Whitwell off the field and control tempo it’s a 7 point game. If not we might get mercy ruled this time around.

Last time we were there it was one of worst losses I’ve ever witnessed. Outplayed and out coached a team that was 21 points better than us and still came up a point short. Called back TD pass because of a phantom hold, Quick whistle on 2 point try and then an onside kick recovered only to be ruled a half yard too early. Gordonsville was just a team of destiny that year. Quick question..Does Gordonsville still have the same mayor as they had in 2012?

Greenback and Whitwell will both have better overall QBs than Lipscomb. DL QB could spin it but didn’t have the wheels to escape when pocket collapsed. The Tigers and Cherokees both have QBs that present that problem and DL definitely didn’t have the WRs the Cherokee’s have or the backs Whitwell have. Having said all that it is doubtful either of you have the defense they (DL) have.

You can’t compare scores. That’s impossible to predict the outcome of another game. Football many times is about matchups. D2 large schools on a down year could play the 1A state champion every single year and win 8 out of 10 times. Once every 5 years 1A would have special enough team or teams (2-3) to beat a school like that. Not because of lack of skill players but because lack of line play and depth up front. Back to SP....they are down right now with all the injuries and really need to get healthy. Players quitting the team this year has zapped the Pirates depth up front compared to last year. I wish they could make a run and beat Whitwell both times and upset Greenback to have a shot at a Gold Ball just to make the kids regret ever quitting. Long ways to go though. Regardless of outcome this year the next fews seasons could be special.

There is a dozen teams that has ever came through the school that could beat Baylor and this team isn’t one of them. Don’t kid yourself. There is a massive difference in size, line play and depth in D2 Large classification and 1A football
