  1. I don't have a dog in this race...don't even live in Knoxville, but I have watched the K2 15 Elite team play and I can tell you that they are the real deal. There are some great players on that team and to be 14 and 15 years of age, that blew me away. They are very well coached and very disciplined. I was talking to one of the parents at an earlier in the year tournament and we were discussing their practice schedule.....wow. Let's just all hope that these girls don't get seriously injured working out and practicing as much as they do. I am a firm believer that in over working joints and muscle groups that can lead to injuries and tears. Good luck to them! I will be following them in the future. I felt like almost all the girls on the team were future Div 1 players.
  2. FYI: Sale Creek actually lost 4 starters from last year who all contributed greatly to the team whether they got credit for it or not........just saying.
  3. Yes I agree. Helton is a good coach! He believes in those kids and they believe in him! I agree....injury free and good officiating----I won't hold my breath on the officiating part though. Good luck in substate!
  4. If you are talking about flying under the radar.........then you need to talk about Sale Creek! I expect a good game tonight with the Bucs. Whoever loses will most likely be traveling to Goodpasture..........we will soon find out.......
  5. Just my opinion.....and everyone has one....but I would put GoodPasture up against anyone in the state right now, in all divisions, and I'm pretty confident they would win! Great team all the way around! No joke! Congrats an I'm sure you will not only hold a AA state title from last year but a class A state title this year as well!!!
  6. Sale Creek had a three-peat tonight (district championship) with their 3-0 wins over Whitwell and Lookout Valley. Off to regionals.... I wish all the Chattanooga teams good luck!
  7. I didn't get to hang around, but who were the gold and silver winners? Sale Creek won the bronze over Symrna 2-0.
  8. AMEN!!! (lr6968) I'm not singling Baylor out, but if everyone will look at past State Champions in class A, heck, ALL classes, you will see that it has been private schools that have won the majority. I so wish that TSSAA would look into separating all the private schools into their own classes! At least schools like Baylor and GPS have done so, but when you talk about others, they are in public divisions. That's just not fair. Take for instance my small rural school, we have about a 50 square mile radius or less to find and squeeze talent out of kids. Not unless a parent wants to pick up and move their family to a zoned region, even if it's just across the road, they are not allowed to play a varsity sport. Then tell me, how can you take a school and let anyone attend as long as they have the money to pay and it doesn't matter if they come from GA or where ever, they can play and be eligible!?! Absurd! I know that parents work very hard to send their kids to private schools..they make sacrifices to send thier children to privates. But we all know that some of the motives of some families are to get their children to schools that have alot of talent. With public schools, especially small public schools, you NEVER know what kind of talent you are going to have!
  9. Anotherback---Sale Creek is doing well when they all show up to play. They seem to rise to the occasion and leave us with our mouths dropped open and scratching our heads when they play some of these AAA and AA teams. They have the ability and are scrappy and have alot of heart but lack in height!! I feel like, if they play to their ability, they will win their district and region, BUT you NEVER know! I think whoever wins region in this area for A will have the best possibile chance to go to the Boro, but 2nd in the region, I think, will have to face Goodpasture! That's something I don't think most AAA teams or even Baylor would want to face! VBinsider--I agree on Baylor. They have depth and are tall and strong up front!
  10. I agree on AAA. The Owls have it unless in post season play they let someone catch them sleeping.....doubtful though....but you never know!?
  11. Predictions for post season play? Interested in your thoughts for all divisions.....any takers? Maybe after Tandem it will be clearer???
  12. Times Free Press said Grace Christian of Knoxville won Silver.
  13. Hixson Invitational results.... Gold bracket champion-----Sale Creek-----2nd year in a row 2nd-----Red Bank silver Bracket champion-----Signal Mountain 2nd-----Lookout Valley teams: Red Bank, Lookout Valley, Signal Mountain, Sale Creek, Ridgeland, Grace, Silverdale, Hixson, CCS, East Ridge
  14. Very happy for Whitwell! Know that Sale Creek supports you guys all the way!!! Good luck at the boro!!!!
  15. Sale Creek loses to Gordonsville 5-0. What an emotional season this has been for Sale Creek. So proud of these girls and their "Cinderella" season! They aren't losing a girl....no seniors....so maybe they can plan a trip to the boro next year! Sure hope so! Please continue prayers for their coach!
  16. Whitwell won 5-1. Sale Creek girls just couldn't do it..... Thanks for the prayers. Clifford is improving. His family told me they would like to thank everyone for everything.....prayers....calls.....texts.....it's been overwhelming. Good luck to everyone in their sectional games.
  17. Actually that is 5pm on Thursday to resume game.
  18. From my understanding, the game will resume where it left off at 5pm tomorrow @ Sale Creek. Tied 1-1 with 1 out and a girl on second (SC batting) bottom of 7th. If you believe in prayer, please say them for our coach, girls, fans, and, Whitwell as well. SUPER big thanks for the kindness that Whitwell showed our team and fans. That is what sports is all about and even if it was in this setting, I am glad I got to witness how everyone came together. Thank you, I am sure, from the whole Sale Creek family.
  19. I can tell you that a coaching change DID help. There are several girls on the team now that did not play last year because they were not happy with the coach. They now have 2 good junior pitchers......it's nice to have that. It helps if one is not having a good night, the other can step in. This team has continued to surprise themselves. They have the talent, Clifford just pulls it out of them. Sometimes it has been painful (for Clifford and for the girls....haha), but now they are reaping the rewards. I have known most all of these girls and their parents since they were born, I can assure you you won't find a better bunch of parents and kids around. They all have worked endlessly this year to make improvements to the field and to help restore the pride in their school! It's really paying off..... With 4 8th graders and 2 that start, 1 freshman, 3 sophomores, and 4 juniors that start, I hope that you will see these girls do even better next year! Excited to see where they end up this year! It takes a team.....not just one kid makes the difference!
  20. Wow.....that's all that really can be said......District 6A and District 5A proved today that no one is handed a championship! Congrats to Sale Creek who defeated Whitwell in a two game final. Sale Creek will host CSAS on Monday in regionals. Also congrats to Grace Academy for their 5A district championship over CSAS. Try will host Whitwell! Nice to see underdogs in both districts come away with district championship wins! Good luck to all the teams next week. Exciting week ahead!
  21. Well just watched Whitwell beat Marion for losers bracket final. Tomorrow is championship between Sale Creek and Whitwell. Good luck to both teams.
  22. Sale Creek over Marion tonight 7-3. That moves Sale Creek to championship game tomorrow with either Marion or Whitwell.
  23. I agree....on your top 3. And I FULLY agree with you about the reffing situation! It's horrendous! It gets worse and worse every season! To me, it seems as if they only call a fair and decent game in the 4th quarter! But by that time, your post players and good defensive players are fouled out! Worse than that, someone is hurt!!! Nothing makes me more mad than to see a game get way to physical and out of hand....then the crowd gets out of hand and no one wins in that kind of situation! That is the refs fault! I have seen many a game that was ruined because of the refs! TSSAA needs to get on this, something needs to happen! I know mistakes are made and calls are missed, but u have seen it as much as I have, the quality has drastically declined within the past 2 years! It's only getting worse!
  24. Just saying "BIGBILLY2010" Between this district it's a toss up. I guess time will tell! Who knows, an underdog might show us all different! Stir that pot.....I just hope everyone's season is injury free and some good and fairly reffed games are played! Good luck to you and to your Whitwell Tigers!
