  1. Goodpasture from this region. The other region supplied the other team in Boyd Buchanan.
  2. The technical was absolutely the right call regardless of time and score. The player violently untucked his jersey in disgust and had it way up. You could see over half his torso he had his uniform so high. It was unfortunate, but officials have no choice in that situation. If the uniform is pulled out it's automatic. I think if it had stopped there, the official may have let it slide, but when it was pulled almost off the player had made the choice for him.
  3. Defense & the lack thereof will make it seem that way.
  4. The layup was completely uncontested and was much higher percentage than 2 foul shots. The coach drew a perfect play, the van buren girls were out of position, and the CSAS girls executed perfectly right up until the the girl missed the layup. She makes it and CSAS probably goes on to win. Just the way things go some times.
  5. Van Buren has as much talent as any team in the state. Expect to see them in Murfreesboro.
  6. If it comes down to coaching Bledsoe is in trouble.
  7. What are the standings now? Who's hot? Who's struggling? I saw the van buren - lookout valley score and could not believe my eyes. Valley must have had an off night because when I watched van buren they were not impressive at all. Is it safe to say that signal mtn is the clear cut favorite?
  8. Well last year proved interesting with lots of upsets during the regular season and Marion finishing atop the tournament. What will this year look like? Who will be coach of the year, player of the year, etc? I'll start: 1. Lookout Valley - should return everybody from a team that finished very strong and beat everyone in the district at least once last year except SP. Coaching is excellent. Could have a couple of guys challenge for POY 2. Signal Mtn - i think they only lost one? solid group that had some big wins last year including a huge win vs SP. top notch coaching. Couple of guys could be POY 3. Whitwell - return almost everybody. good young guard player and best player in district in the big guy. He should be POY. coaching = needs some big wins and to avoid the slip ups like last year vs RH 4. Sale Creek - one of the best coaches in the district will surprise some this year with this group. solid core returning. 5. - 7. Van Buren, Marion, South Pitt - I'm not convinced about any of these 3. These guys could upset people and lose to anyone in league. Marion & SP lost lots but all will always have athletes availabe. Just hard to handicap that much attrition. Van Buren = I'm just not a believer 8. Richard Hardy - just have to convince me otherwise. Thoughts?
  9. I love how you call a team bad that you admittedly didn't even go watch play! Do you have good sources? If not what are you going off of? You can add me to the list of Signal detractors - at least, until someone else from your community can come on here and convince me that not everyone on your "mountain" is so lacking in the sportsmanship category.
  10. Seriously - A pageant? Sounds like the coach was being more than generous with allowing her to play at all. Aren't parents just the BEST! That mean ole coach is picking on Suzy again!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  11. I would throw van buren county out as a possibility as well.
  12. All of this is hilarious. Last year it was Pickett back & forth with Grace & Temple all year on here and this year it looks it will be Clay back & forth with them. I just hope come march the Bulldogs represent us well and send one of them back to chatt-town.
  13. My top five look like this: 1. Gordonsville- good guards back, lost little, with Van Buren gone should be able to take advantage. 2. Westmoreland- just a hunch, coach graves is good. 3. Friendship- they will find help somewhere. 4. Mt. Juliet Christian- gotta have faith in my boys. 5. Trousdale- I would look for an upset or two out of them.

    District 8a

Close, but Gordonsville will finish ahead of Watertown. Their coach just always gets too much out of them to finish 3rd.
  15. yeah, she was pretty impressive as an 8th grader
  16. I personally have never seen anything out of the way to think that people from Van Buren would do something like cheese is implying... i wouldn't worry about it eagle... sounds like sour grapes.
  17. I think I speak for everyon in 8A when I say "we're glad Van Buren is gone." They have tremendous talent returning and would be the obvious favorite if still in our district. They would be right up there with Clay as the favorites for the region. Good luck to you guys in your new district.
  18. Let's not forget though how "Celina Prep Academy" got to the region final. Van Buren jumped out to a 17 point lead and then gave the game away in the 2nd half due to 7 missed lay-ups. I mean Clay is good, but lets not get carried away.
  19. here's my question: How does Bibb get away with so much. Starting at about 2 minutes into the game he started berating the officials and never let up the whole way. From where i sat it looked as though most coaches would have been gone with 2 T's in the 1st half and he never got one the whole way. I mean he was literally in their earhole all night. I thought it was ridiculous, but that's just my opinion..... anyone else have a comment on this? Oh and i thought Edwards did a great job of staying under control and kept his kids focused and under control as well. congrats to the bulldogs
  20. We played him last night and he is at least 6'4 or 6'4 and a half. And there is definitely no better guards in the state. We tried everything and held him to 24. These other guards are good, but no way are they doing it at 6'4 (Bailey is 6'1 at best and Skogen is I think under 6'0). Not to mention he's quick and can JUMP. With his wingspan and athleticism he plays more like 6'6. He could be really good at the next level...
  21. MVP- Allen Rigsby ( I agree w/ vanburen eagle- this is a no brainer) Most improved player- Rigsby here too- He's a whole different player this year. All district team- Rigsby, Perry, Gaines, Neal, and Greg Thomas (MJCA) Most improved team- US (we did take Friendship into O/T over the weekend) Most disappointing team- I'll go with Trousdale (know they lost a lot, but I expected them to slip up on someone) Game of the year- US against FCS over the weekend Performance of the year- I'll say my Thomas's 35 on Westmoreland Pick to win the district tournament- It's a stretch, but I'll stay strong and say US again.
  22. I agree completely with you vanbureneagle..... Catalyst know exactly what he is talking about......... GEEZ
  23. That is ridiculous!! some of the district is down-yes, but Van Buren is better than a lot give them credit for and Friendship is very tough. 8a is a whole lot tougher than the 7a teams that Pickett is playing night in and night out. Your comments are laughable.
  24. Well the game is getting closer and its time for more predictions and reasons why you think the game will turn out this way. I say Van Buren shoots the ball better this time around Westmoreland is a "little" off (and I do mean just a smidge) and with the homecourt advantage of being "on the mountain" as you VB folks like to call it- Van Buren wins by 5. I think the atmosphere will be great- wish I could be there!
  25. I AGREE... THE EAGLES OF VAN BUREN COUNTY
