Man what a game that night for the rebels. The dogs are still trying to figure out where that truck came from that hit them - game was over by halftime. Was actually a real turning point for the West program.

2 years ago West lost in the regular season to a team they then defeated in the third round. The best way to be free this week for Thanksgiving is to sit back and think the Bobcats aren’t looking to prove why they are still alive and still one of the best programs in 5A football. They have sent West home before and they can do it again tonight. I like West to win if they stay focused and play their game.

Since 2017 - has any 5A team played in more playoff games than Central? They have dispatched many a good team to the basketball courts- including West 2 years ago. It’s hard to beat good teams twice in one season, but I think both teams come in on equal footing. I think home field helps the Rebels - but focus may favor the Bobcats.

35-0 - west had more points than DC had yards at the half. Defense played tough tonight. Offense did enough to put this one away early, second half was basically killing clock. Give credit to DC for swinging hard. They were not intimated and fought until the clock ran out. Survive and advance.

I can’t ever pick against vil - but can’t pick against my rebels - so I guess I can’t pick. Why you do me this way vil? What if I gave you West plus 6.5? Could you pick us to cover?

That was a long night - impacted that team and those players for quite a long time. Still remember that family from time to time in my prayers. Good seeing you oldrebel2.

That would not excite me nearly as much as a West/Boone or West/Central game, but I may be slightly biased in my opinion.

West is averaging over 50 points in the first half in their last 2 games and their starters have given up 0 points. DC beat SC by more points than the Rebels so they have shown they can play. Should make for an interesting match up. Do the Rebels get caught looking ahead to round 3, or do they survive and advance?

Correct - he never made it to the NFL (never even played in college) but he did take a full academic ride all the way through grad school. So I’d say our decision to move into a better school before he entered high school worked out pretty well. Never said mid and west sucked - just think is a little disingenuous to say players in other parts of this state don’t move for opportunities.

Yes - I admit I moved into a better school zone so my child could get a better education and play in a better program. Glad your principles and high morals forced you to sacrifice your child to prove a point. I have no responsibility to try and balance the parity between football programs, but I do have a responsibility to my child.

If your son had D1 talent - you wouldn’t move a a school that gave him the best opportunity to succeed? I know I would. I know where I would move if I lived in one neighboring county.

I’m sorry kids outside of east tn are not allowed to move to new housing and change schools for better academic or athletic opportunities. You should talk to someone about that.

Opinions may vary- but West played pretty solid ball in all phases of the game and momentum is a real thing. Anything that could go wrong for Central did. I don’t think this game is a true reflection of Central football. Would not be surprised if Rd 2 of this game shows up in the third round. That said - neither team can look past the first 2 rounds as upsets happen and officials have been known to miss obvious fumbles that allow teams to move on. That said - I liked the crew last night as they stayed out of the game unless needed, very few penalties and neither team could complain. Survive and advance.

So are you saying no team can play at Alcoa and get a fair game?. Would explain some things. A lot of trolls on here this week. As fox said - keep speaking YOUR truth. It not THE truth - but it seems to be important to snowflakes so keep speaking YOUR truth.

Since both teams are from Knoxville - the officials will cheat both teams evenly. We only try to screw over teams from Blount County so it should be a non issue.

Not sure how much I put into jamboree games. Overall I see this as who wants it more. With what’s on the line here - you shouldn’t have to motivate teams too hard - but you never know. West came out flat last week and looked like they could care less about that game and it showed in every aspect of it.

So you have no real answer and want to sit on the fence so when the games over you can show how right you were - got it. So Scott only won the title once. Was he an underachiever for all of his tenure at West? He has not returned Halls to their glory - is he underachieving there? I am actually a fan of Scott Cummings - he is a better man than he is a coach.

There is a soccer board that I think you have not given your 2 cents on today. You stated 2 different things. West and Central both cannot win Friday. You stated that: A: West pulls away late B: this game is simple - coaching - and that goes to Central So does it come down to coaching and you are taking Central or does West pull away late? You said West has not won the big one since Cummings left. Name any coach at West in the last 70 years that has won a state title not named Cummings. Did every coach since 1951 under achieve?

Then why did you just say that West pulls away late just a few minutes ago? I know I shouldn’t feed trolls - but you make almost every discussion on every board worthless. You average 30 plus posts a day on everyone’s board but manage to say nothing.

My mind is just fine. Please feel free to continue talking trash to the fans of the most successful program in TN history. That always looks classy and reflects well. How many state titles does West have in its 70 year history?

Easy now chief. Feel free to show West some love - but you can do it without hurling insults across the river. Maryville is Maryville - their track record of success speaks for itself.
