  1. Ok, since Farragut beat the mighty wildcats, there's nooooooooooo way the lowly cougars could beat Farragut? Right? We'll I'll be the first to say the cougars have gotten better every week. It's all about match ups SS. If Farragut runs the wrong defensive scheme they'll get burnt a couple times. As for #45 being in the backfield all night? I highly doubt that! CC offensive line is huge and probably the best in the district. Plus, if he gets back there, he'll be by himself, the ball will already be thrown, or the qb will be ten yards down field. Lol. Told you I'd get this thread going.
  2. We'll I'm back from my trip out west and I can say I hate my job sometimes. I kinda kept up with the games threw the wife and kids and I have to say, I am impressed with them beating Clinton at Clinton. I am going to try and watch the game on here somewhere but the guys at work said it was a fun game to watch. I thought Clinton would just be better this year than they are. I've tried to go back and read some of the post about cc but to be honest it looks like it's been a little quiet on here. So I'll get everyone talking again, here goes, when CC goes to Farragut Friday it will be for first place in the district and prolly the region. CC qb is playing out of his mind and if it continues they may squeak out that 7-3 season everyone was talking about. They have Farragut, bell co. , Karns and OR to go so it could happen. I think there better than Karns and Bell county is usually good but they won't know how to defend CC. So they have to beat one of the other two. If they finish 7-3 Price should be coach of the year. Doing that with two senior starters? That'd be awesome. I was also told the grace game was a nail biter. I can't wait to watch the replays. I say CC 41-38.
  3. Got to go out west for work, gonna miss the next 3 games. Limited access to Internet and phone. Can't wait to see all the postings when I return. I think CC wins handily at Grace, prolly loses to Clinton and wins handily vs Cocke co. Sorry hog if the post seem negative. I love the cougars. They'll be really good next year. 8-10 win season next year. See u in three weeks
  4. I was close. Lc isn't very good. They started every drive from right around mid field and we won't be able to do that the next few games. They just didn't have the fire power to capitalize on field position. Probably the worst team CC will see all season. Short week to get ready for Grace, then Clinton.
  5. If the Roberts kid plays I see CC winning this on as well. He has another gear and can ease the pressure at the line. I say CC 31-13.
  6. Hmmm. We'll it looks like u just said what I said in my post. We can't replace players like other schools. There are a lot of juniors on the football team. Is that young? The qb has been in the system for 3 years. He wasn't even the starter. What if he gets hurt? What then in a system that throws it 95% of the time? As for Bball? I've been following them long before now. The team will be ok moving forward. All I know is basketball has done something that football can't, beat the crap out of AC. Not sure, I haven't been to every game but, they've only beaten CC once in last four years and that's without one of their best players and almost came back from a 25 point deficit in that loss. Come on over to bball thread and we'll talk about it.
  7. Well, I hate to say, I told u so, but,...... Look we've had a couple good seasons. We've had some fun, made some great strides, have people excited around here. Unfortunately cc doesn't have the athletes to have four or five 9-2 seasons in a row. I think they can win 5-6 games this year. But they can also win 3-4 games. It's hard to swallow after seeing what's possible up there. But, a 3-7 or 4-6 season now at cc is not going to be acceptable, and man that's refreshing. We used to be ticked to death to go 4-6 and have a couple close losses. Not anymore. I just don't see it with this years team like the others. The offense is mediocre at best and the defense was supposed to be the best since the purple people eaters or the steel curtain, and their giving up 20 ppg. Without the deep threat in that offense and the reluctance to establish a run game, I'm afraid teams are going to crowd the line and give the dinks and dunks. It's still fun to go to a cc game and think we might win.
  8. Wow 50 pages on this silly topic. I don't have time to go back through and read all 50 pages but I'll answer the the topics question of why doesn't maryville play top tn teams. The answer is they do. It's usually the last 3 games of the year, right before the accept another gold ball.
  9. Farragut will win this one by 14+
  10. Idk Space. 3-7 is tough to swallow with as big as the o line is and as good as the defense is. I'm gonna stick with 6-4 for now. Central is this week so a lot will be said there. CC defense is actually pretty stout.
  11. Hey SS. I heard Middleton wasn't playing bball. U hear anything?
  12. I have high expectations for CC too, hog. A lot longer than u. I played at CC, bled for CC, and root for them in everything. But, I usually have realistic expectations. 9-1 or 8-2 like you thought is just unrealistic. You don't lose that much talent and replace it year after year. You can say what you want, but if you had Toress Friday night CC beats Gibbs. I heard the CC bball team will not have a senior this season. I have high expectations, but in reality, playing in this district that means, .500 season. Now I have high expectations next year and the year after, because the talent pool is there, it's just young. Also, it's not about hiding behind a computer. Every time someone disagrees with u, u get all defensive, and want to meet them somewhere. It's an open discussion forum. We all love our teams, but don't get bent out of shape when someone disagrees with u man. 6-4 isn't bad for ole CC.
  13. Good post mav4. This post could be copied and paste to a lot of fans and their teams in this area. I really don't care who dodged who or what happened. IMO CC has had the better team the last couple years and we still got waxed by AC. When I heard AC was moving to their current district, I'll be honest, I thought your coaches and administration were NUTS! That district is killer. They could've stayed here and prolly constantly finished in the top three spots. I don't hope u guys get killed every game but man that's a tough schedule. We still play in every other sport so we still have a rivalry going. Good luck to u guys this year, I still know a lot of those people and wish u nothing but the best.
  14. Not a dick move. I don't have to ask anybody what they thought. I saw it!!! Ur the one who said it was the best team, most talent, stacked three deep at every position, etc.... Well I can tell u one thing there not 3 deep at every position, and not even two deep at QB. Wanted it more? That's a cop out. CC wanted it just as bad, they just got outplayed on the plays that meant the most. I think you'll see how important the leadership of those guys I mentioned graduating meant to this team. There's an old saying, " sometimes the most talent doesn't always win". Ask Phi Slamma Jamma and NC State. I still love the cougars, but hate to say I saw this coming. This is a 5-5, 6-4 team that will be real good next year.
  15. Well, let's see what happens from here on out. I don't think I'm too far off.
  16. U know better than me Hog. So I'll defer to u on this one. I hope your right. I'll say this, if the win 7 Price should be coach of the year, 8 he should win state COY. I THINK SEVEN WINS GETS U 2nd place in district with who u say were gonna lose too right. I mean I don't see any teams besides OR winning more than 8 games in our district.
  17. You too. It's good to be back in town for a while. I'm hearing good things about you guys in football and bball. I don't think CC can beat u guys next season because of youth, but I think we ll give you some good games the next few seasons. That's bball of course. I'll get back on the fball topic. I think you guys have a real shot at winning this thing. CC might be a year away from their best CLASS ever in my opinion. Lots of good juniors on that fball team. I hope they get off to a good start up there or it could be a ho hum year. I heard and saw a picture of the big kid that moved into CC. 6'7" -400 lbs. If he can play any, I'd switch to the I-formation. Lol. See u on the bball threads later. I hear CC doesn't have a senior on the squad, and has some good size in the sophomore class. Can't wait till winter. Lol.
  18. Well I didn't mean to start anything with my post but I'm a realist. I love CC and am proud of the last couple seasons. But let's be honest, we could have very easily been 6-4 or 5-5 in those seasons. We barely beat Gibbs both times, barely beat OR, barely beat Clinton both times, barely beat central and had to Hail Mary Powell. I know ur gonna say but we did win, and yes we did and I'm glad. But, we had nick Bailey, Ethan Jeffers and most importantly, trey Torress. Three first team all staters that were high impact players. Toress did things out there people couldn't believe. He just had a will to win. I was just saying that this isn't the cupcake schedule we've been playing. No Cumberland gap, no Lynn camp, no halls. Let's face it, that's 3 sure wins every year. Bell county always Feilds a tough competitive team, that'll be a game. LC does too, but if understand their down, but I'll bet there better than those three I mentioned above. Cocke county too. The problem with all the success at CC the last couple years is it gets harder to find teams like those that want to take a beating when they don't have to. I'm sure when the Lynn camp scheduled us a home and home after our 3-7 season, they were expecting to win. After all they had never lost to CC. Same with Gap. CC has some good players but none like those three I mentioned. I heard they pushed Webb around pretty good the other night and that our O line is our strongest attribute, but we throw it 97% of the time. I heard the Macintosh kid looks real good. I heard the Rutherford kid is prolly the best QB but only a sophomore so they'll start the junior. I heard the Phillips kid is a beast at ILB but he's hurt a lot, he's only a sophomore too. Watch how they do the first game. It'll tell a lot.
  19. Well I'm more bball fan but here's my take on this season. The schedule is a whole lot tougher than the last 3 seasons. No Lynn camp, no halls. They've been replaced with Bell county ky, and Grace Christian. I feel Gibbs has given them fits the couple times they've played and Gibbs was young last year. Central will be better, Clinton should be better, karns will be better, oak ridge will be better. I just don't know if CC is "better". That coupled with games with cocke county, lenoir city and at Farragut, is a lot different than last few years. I believe the first game of the year will set the tone for season. If they beat Gibbs and get confidence they go 7-3, if they lose that game I see 5-5.
  20. Yes they have Jeff county Friday and Fulton Tuesday. Both at CC.
