Yes, Jones returning for East Nashville, and they are the favorite to repeat. Power Center was probably the 2nd best team last year, not sure who they return. Milan returns 7 of the first 9, all of who played a lot in their run to State runnerup, so they are expected to be one of the top 2A teams again. Gibson County and Bolivar should both be tough, and there are always surprise teams as Milan was last year. Looking forward to it!

East Nashville was an awesome team. When you take elite talent and mix with great coaching, it is a winning combination. Milan simply did not have enough talent to match, although they have a great coach. I heard #1 on East is a junior, be back next year, that is scary as he is the real deal. Milan has chance to get back next year. They do lose 2 good players, but a lot of experience and talent coming back. Thanks to East for your showing, and thanks to Milan for the cinderella run to the last day of basketball!

I have stopped underestimating the Milan team. Tyner appeared to have superior talent, but Milan had them so rattled, they did know how to react. Only had 19 points total going into the 4th quarter. Wow, defense can humble a good team. Milan is not great against a press, so East Nashville would be wise to press them. Win or lose, the Milan team is something special, in some ways a throwback to early times, when it was more of a half court game. East Nashville should be favored, but again, Milan defies the odds.

I am old enough to remember when Milan was all a Basketball town, and had a terrible football program. There is no reason you cannot have both, just look at Peabody and McKenzie for example. This, hopefully, is the start of such. Milan proves it can support all sports. Now, if they can just get the girls program revitalized.

Bolivar gave good effort, Tyner just to big. Tyner could take it all, but a good defensive and disciplined team can beat them. Milan continues to exceed expectations, and their town support is great. Robinson will not be able to do what he did to York on Tyner, as they will be quicker, therefore the others will have to contribute much more. East Nashville is probably still the team to beat, but not shorting Brainerd, just do not know much about them.

Yes, and had a much better year than their football team. New coach made a huge difference, and they only have two seniors, look for them to be a factor again next year.

Amazing story with what the Milan team has accomplished. From winning 6 games last year to 23 and counting this year. Defense rules with this team, only giving up average of 44 points per game all year, and held Fairview to 37.

Yes, I do. There seems to be a lot of excitement around town for both programs with the experience level the new coaches are bringing. Coach Williams in inheriting some nice talent, so we expect to see winning year one, although probably not at championship levels. I expect to see some nice crowds come out to see what he can do. If it starts out strong, look for crowds to grow as season progresses.

Should be a fun enviroment at Johnnie Hale Stadium. It is great to have competitive rivalries just a few miles apart. SG has made an impressive short trip to the levels of postseason quality football. Will probably be too much Milan tonight, but do not sell SG short, that is why we still play the games. Milan has a tough schedule with Crockett, Huntingdon and Covington still to play, but expect the Dogs back in the hunt come late October. SG will probably be there also, but would not pick either to bring home the Gold Ball, although Milan could be back in title game.
