FC being new to D2A is in uncharted territory. They have lost 3 VERY key linemen. Webb has won it all 3 of the last 4 years. Is it possible that FC could beat them?

Couldn't agree with you more. It's just a game and entertainment and there is plenty more to life.

Curious as to the concept of "Watertown lost due to the lack of playing in the state finals in the big arena". Sure, there is pressure but "a court is a court". When FC won it all last year they had never been there either yet played some of their best ball all season. I thought that the big environment would have fired up Watertown to a higher level, not lower. Maybe I am wrong.

Why were those regular season LC games forfeited?

As I said earlier.....I wanted to see Watertown go all the way. I am frustrated that they collapsed when it counted most.

Definitions of "choke"- Free throws 8-29. 15 turnovers. Having a 7 point lead at the half then letting the other team come out in the third and outscore you 15-2.

I have been reading everyone's take on the game but I still don't get it. How on earth does a 30-3 team lose to an 8-23 team? Even if LC's 4 forfeits would have been wins their best record would have been 12-19. I was one of very few FCS fans that wanted to see Watertown go all the way and was already planning to be at Saturday's big game. I somehow knew they wouldn't make it to the final. They killed FC by 40 points for one game but the other two they only won by 10 and another one only by 4. That's when I knew even though I hoped for better. All that hype about Bradshaw and they completely choked!

FC falling apart in basketball isn't the "end of the world" and I am a huge FC fan. The way I see it is this: Last year we won state in Volleyball, Football and Basketball BUT everyone said we would NOT win basketball and were about guaranteed to win baseball. After football many at FC said they "felt bad" for basketball because they would be the only sport not to win it all and look how it ended up: Basketball won and baseball lost. Has any school ever won Football, Basketball and Baseball in the same year? I think this is our baseball year. Additionally, when you look at Sandoval and DP from last year....those were just the best two players in the entire high school league. Yes their replacements are fantastic but not a one for one swap. Not yet. This crew will be dangerous come their senior year.

I don't know man. I see a TON of similar things between last years FC team and this years W'town team. Last year FC finished the regular season 20-2 (less games due to Football playoffs). W'town will finish this regular season at 23-3. Last years FC margins of victory are similar to this years W'town margins of victory against the same teams. On the other hand the first time FC and W'town played this year W'town only won that by 10 points which if I was W'town I would find out why that happened and fix it before the REAL games start. They fixed it for the second FC game for sure but the loss to Pickett and Eagleville are scary 'cause neither of them are any good or even have a winning season.

Hey! It's all in fun! I have enjoyed CoachT battling back and forth. It's entertainment. One final note: I love a good battle on the field and on the court. If W'town gets to the 'Boro I will be there cheering them on. (But I 'aint wearin' purple!).

EXCELLENT post. Where were all the complaints when FC was the "easy team to beat"? There were none. Everyone is all flared up because FC is in the middle of a great group. Simply put: Every year graduation eliminates a group of players and rising 8th graders bring in new ones. This is going to happen regardless of public/private.

Bradshaw wasn't a good fit for FC and that's it. End of story. We were never going to win state with him. I think what happened was a huge wake up call and that is why the person that wrote the novel above says what he does. As for Cleve Harris and FC riding to the ring on Bradshaw's former team, that is ridiculous. Also anyone (like MaloneJohnson above) who says, "FC couldn't handle the passion" obviously knows completely zero about anything concerning FC sports.

Very happy for Pickett Co. I know this thread is about b-ball but but I have to ask...."why is it that they can field a decent b-ball team but can't make it work in football"?

All this non-sense about recruiting. If any of it were true, we would go out and get some football linemen for next season. Everyone is going to see that it's not true. Now we can recruit and still won't be able to strengthen up our line. Bottom line with all this, opposing teams hate it when they aren't the winners and drum up a bunch of garbage about why the other team shouldn't have won. The QB (who by the way only completed 6 passes in the state final) wanted to play at a school that more closely represented where he came from. That's it. Everyone wants the story of "we flew up there in a private jet and paid him thousands to come play at FC". Great drama and movie script but it just isn't so.

If Bradshaw had coached at FC last year, we wouldn't have won it all. Everyone on here knows that and you can tell by them covering it up with "recruiting, tainted titles, etc". Also, last year (when FC was at Watertown) we beat them 60-43. I was sitting directly behind the W'town bench and during a time out Bradshaw was going off on his boys. Nothing unusual about that. All coaches do it-it's called "coaching" but he was being especially a real jerk. Many commented "this really has nothing to do with his team vs FC. It's about Bradshaw vs FC admin". After his boys took the court they collapsed and we ran away with it.

Crawl back to Bradshaw??? Why on earth would FC do that? The FC coach got us a ring last year. What did Bradshaw get Watertown? I find it hilarious that FC produced 5 gold rings in 14 months and Watertown tries to strut around in their "District Champions" T-shirts. "District Champions"??? Really? No one cares about that. You came all that way last year then collapsed against Clarkrange. We had to finish the job for you by knocking them off. If you want the mighty FC to bow before you then for crying out loud DO SOMETHING with this momentum and get to the 'Boro and win it! Until then.....you are just blowing smoke.

Last years tournament the officials seemed decent. I wonder if the regular season and the tournaments use different officials.

If someone on these posts swears or is inappropriate there is a button clearly labeled "report". This is what needs to happen with officials. I believe that many games are video recorded (although not high quality really for review) but is there a way to "report" an official for just completely wrecking a game?

For all my bashing, I have to say that tonight's officials at the G'ville @ FC game were very good!

To any who are still viewing this thread. So FC pulls off a buzzer beater come back win tonight over Trousdale after FC played their worse first half maybe in team history (only made 2 field goals the entire first half). Guess what? I still say the officials were horrible. Someone earlier in this thread said, "FC always says that when they lose". Not so. And some of my complaints are even about "no calls" on FC like when we travelled and they didn't call it. The TC coach jumps up and does the "traveling" motion. The official sees the TC coach THEN calls it. Sad. How can this be stopped and improved?
