  1. MC up 14-0 late in the 2nd quarter.
  2. Continue to play solid D and feed #3 and #4 the rock. Take care of the ball and I like the Warriors chances to come out on top tonight.
  3. Seem to have struck @OLD PIRATE nerve. Ken scheduled NJ twice, and won both. Lolley didn't like being on the losing side of things, especially to Ken so that was the end of that. I know your not a fan of the private schools, but you seem to be holding that nose awful high in the air. What happened with the spray paint stuff has been over, keep beating a dead horse. Anybody that defended that made a public fool of themselves and went into hiding. I think your disdain for Tim revolves around the playbook incident and seeing him at MC period. I'm not pointing the finger at anybody because I wasn't there in the room when the rival fell apart. But the people involved in that are gone. Those wrongs can be righted with the Wes and Tim meeting in the middle. People like yourself are preventing these kids from getting to play in one of the most tradition rich rivalry games in Tennessee history. I'm a fan of the Valley playing each other year in and year out. Just makes too much sense to me financial and logistic wise. I think going away from it has been a mistake. Back to the game though, hopefully both teams get out injury free. Should be a good match up. I think the Pirates will edge it out in the end by a score.
  4. That's why I say early in the year. It will ebb and flow with teams being up and down but you will have some turn out due to proximity vs having to fun gas for a trip and 1.5 or 2 hours away. The ceiling for the gates are extremely high and the floor is equal to what it is now. Some games will be a blow out but would rather make some money and make it easier for parents/fans financially and logistically.
  5. I'm not saying to go out and fill your non region schedule with Alcoa and Oakland types. I think if fans will be honest with themselves, Oakland gave you guys barometer of where your team is at, the effort it takes to play against a equal or more talented team, and the level of execution it takes to win those games, thus helping you all down the road in the playoffs. I think it's too late in the game to schedule Boyd. If they continue their trajectory under Rankin, then it would be another match up against Alcoa in a different uniform. Somebody mentioned Peabody earlier. More along those lines. Sure Franklin County is below average for 5A but it is a good test for a 1a/2a team due to their size and athletes they will have on the team. Upperman, TC, Tullahoma, York, Smith County, Tyner, Hixson, and Red Bank types. I know you have scheduled some of those in the past or recently. Most of them will be competitive except for the occasional 2 to 3 year dip. Also, just my opinion but I think all the valley teams should go back to playing each other. Try to get most of them early in the year while the record is still decent and there is some hope. No reason to be missing out on the money that those types of games will bring to all of the schools involved.
  6. Because your head coach at the time reached out to make it happen. Lots of consistently good schools are always needing opponents, just if your HC wants to try and schedule them or not. Vic had plenty of chances to schedule Alcoa, but you seen the option he chose. Lots of HCs do this. They would rather pad their record than give their team a chance to maximize their potential against good to great competition. Any time you hear someone say "it's a meaningless game or that's dumb why take a chance on any of our players getting hurt" that's code for "We are scared"
  7. So if he goes through those teams to with the championship? Still a dodger in your eyes? Look Rankin at Alcoa kept a lot of really good teams from winning the championship in 2A and 3A, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. You've got to beat them. Ain't nothing to it but to do it. People get mad at him for his reign but you have to respect it. I know a lot dads out there think they could win if they had his talent, and some could maybe, but could they sustain the success he had for that long? I doubt it. We've all seen plenty of teams that are loaded with talent fall short for one reason or another. How are the Irish going to fair against Rankin and company Boog?
  8. Looks like you was right boog, maybe @BoydBuchBacker might have a change of heart after that one. That RB Boyd has ain't too bad.
  9. I was asking @BoydBuchBackerBoydBuchBacker if those teams are the ones he is referring to because he said it reminded him of old Boyd teams that ran the ball well. I haven't seem them play yet this year
  10. Impressive showing by the Warriors, congrats on the win boys and coaches. Game kind of reminded me of the 08 match up between these two teams except this match up is taking place early in the year and the game is at Marion instead of SC. SC had some buzz about them and MC has a good squad but could they gel and come together. Hope we can continue to show improvement from week to week. Do that and I think this team will have a good chance of making some noise in the playoffs. As for the comparisons to teams of the past, it's a fun topic to discuss but that is all. Just to throw my two cents in, I believe the 08, 14, and 15 teams are better than this squad at the moment. But it could be a different story by the end of the year. Each one of those teams had their leader/game changer (Muir, Zaman, Walters/Henderson). A lot of football left to be played.
  11. Sorry about the late response. Life has been busy and haven't got to tune in like I usually do. These teams remind you of the Healy/Peardon, 08 and 09 teams?
  12. Would you take Reynolds over Rankin?
  13. Can't say it hurts my feelings to see you guys fall short but I think your main problem has been fixed and it already showed in one state championship win. Having a more talented team will win you a lot of games, but when there isn't a clear difference in talent, it usually comes down to making fine tune adjustments. Lots of missed opportunities with the old guard as the lead for sure.
  14. As of right now I don't think Marion County is one of the top 10 teams in 2A. A lot of talent but not sure if it will amount to any deep playoff runs.
  15. Marion County HC? He will be able to get talented kids there, but as far as maximizing their potential he might fall short. Going to be interesting to see who gets this position but that is the first I've heard of Starkey being interested. Not saying I doubt your info, just not sure if he would get a serious look or not.
  16. 100%. Good game to Yeti and the Meigs gang. Make some noise in the playoffs. Load the wagon for that QB until the wheels fall off.
  17. Meigs just picked up 1st down. 1:16 left. Marion takes their last time out
  18. Onside kick goes out of bounds. Meigs ball
  19. TD Marion. Marion 32 Meigs 35 with 3 mins left to go
  20. Marion with the interception on 3rd down. Ball on Meigs 10
  21. Said Meigs had the coaching advantage coming into this game. Definitely has shown tonight. That type of stuff is inexcusable.
  22. Punting when we haven't stopped them all night? Was that flag on one of the Marion coaches?
  23. This defense will have nightmares about the QB for a year probably. Rightly so. Good call by your coach on 3rd down. Just getting out coached tonight, but the effort is there
  24. Have to give you credit on that one. He has been a hoss tonight. Is that you fitz?
