  1. Square dance city in Dresden, TN tonight... Coach Harris said he's bringing the energy and noise... Hodge will be in the background doing the worm (just because he can). It's time. Go Lions!
  2. Yes, the "Alcoa" folks can talk the talk and walk the walk... I'm not seeing how that translates to the Dresden QB being on his back most of the night. What about GB? lol #trolling #DontTakeThisPersonally
  3. It's not that I think GB hasn't seen talent like Dresden, but I just believe they have only seen it in glimpses... Dresden has the talent in more than one or two players--there is true depth in all areas for Dresden which makes the difference between Dresden and the other teams GB has faced. As far as Coalfield and South Pitt and Greenback, I am well aware of the talent that those programs have year in and year out, but again, I don't think they are as stacked with as many talented players as the Dresden team you will see this Friday. Not taking away from any of those programs at all as I truly do respect each.
  4. There is absolutely no way Marion County mercy rules this Dresden team... especially given that they lost to South Pitt earlier in the year who lost to GB. Also, there is a 0% chance Alcoa would put anywhere close to 100 on this Dresden defense. It seems that you, sir/madam, are the one who does not need to speak on things which he/she does not understand. This is not to say that the game this week will be easy--it won't. I fully expect a close game between two great teams; however, I do pick Dresden to pull away in the second half, much like they did against WC--who has a phenomenal QB. Dresser Winn will have a great game, Dylan Yates will have a great game, and so will the many other skills players who GB has seen nothing like throughout the entirety of this year (McDonald, Williams, Thomas, Jones, Hutcherson). All of these guys plus the excellent defensive leaders in Jordan Mitchell and Hudson Nanney will give GB competition unlike anything they have seen thus far. I know GB has very skilled players in their QB and RB. And of course, the O-line and D-line will be a group to be reckoned with, but I truly believe Dresden will come away with this one. My prediction: Dresden 41 Greenback 20
  5. Definitely revy... the "UH OH" and ">IS<" was a dead giveaway haha
  6. Just watched #20 for WC on his highlight reel... looks like a strong, tough kid that can make some plays... But I got to be honest... he looks to be untouched on most of those. The Dresden O-line should't let that happen come Friday..
  7. McDonald is another that will be an X-factor Friday night... He's the one who can actually "do it all" as they say... He can certainly run and catch, but wait for it--AND HE CAN PASS! Little known fact by those outside of Dresden, but #1 (Quincy McDonald) was named 1st Team All-State QB as a sophomore...
  8. Also, I forgot to mention another X-factor: the Dresden O-line is really stepping it up. They have faced some difficult D-lines in Union City and Trenton--as well as some other schools--and have proven that they can stick with everyone we have faced so far. O-lines typically go unnoticed and are under appreciated (as we all know), but this O-line in Dresden is definitely worth mentioning and can make the difference in this game--especially when it comes to stopping WC's #20. They will have their hands full with him, but I truly believe they are up for the task. The Hogs up front always need some appreciation and recognition, whether its for Dresden or WC, and these two are definitely worth talking about seeing as how these teams did not come this far without them.
  9. Well, I usually wait until around this time of year to get on CoachT because, hey, anything before the semifinals doesn't matter, right? haha. Anyways, after having read through this thread, I feel like I just watched a reality TV show involving a mix of The Bachelor/Bachelorette and Jerry Springer/Maury. And for that, I thank you to those of you who have provided such entertainment lol. Who would've thought you could get on a high school football thread and be that entertained--for FREE? Anyways, back to the game. As a Dresden supporter, I can say without a doubt that WC is as talented a team as we have faced all year. Their QB and Defense are (almost) second to none--though I may be biased, I think Dresser and the Dresden Defense have the slight edge in this game. Rice is also an unbelievable QB and will pose a real threat and challenge to the Dresden secondary. #20 for WC is also a hoss who will most definitely cause some issues--but I believe Dresden will adjust and overcome (thus is the game of football). Dylan Yates is also a hoss who will also definitely cause some issues for WC's offense and defense. This goes without saying, but both teams could not be more motivated and both clearly see what is at stake with this game. That being said, giving credit where it is due to both sides--I think Dresden has the edge in this one because of a few X-factors in Dresden's stable of athletes/receivers (Thomas, Jones, Hutcherson, Little Yates to name a few), Jordan Mitchell and Brice Williams (both rarely mentioned, but difference-makers nonetheless), and the fact that we are fortunate enough to have the home field advantage. Good luck to both teams and I pray it is an injury-free game. Go Lions! Score Prediction: -Dresden: 49 -WC: 42
  10. No stepping on toes at all. Football is a game and if that's your opinion then you are perfectly within your rights to think that. However, much like ysoangry, I think Hutch just didn't look as impressive because he put all the pressure on himself and forced some deep balls that were unneccesary. Lack of game experience is the only reason that I can think of that he was doing that, however, he still performed much better in preseason games than I think you are giving him credit for... I believe he would do better as the season went along if given the chance. In the preseason jamboree at Henry County, he went 6-10 (60% completions) with 110 yards and 1 TD in ONE HALF.. then he was subsequently benched after that performance??.. then Quincey (no offense to him because I think he is a great player and athlete, just not a QB) was asked to start the next week and the rest of the season where he has thrown interceptions in almost every game. Numbers don't lie. I would have liked to see what Hutch could do in an entire game throwing to Quincey and the other big time athletes we have. I just don't think our offense is reaching its full potential being so one dimensional. Either way, I am a lion supporter. Go lions!
  11. I still don't quite understand why Quincey hasn't been at receiver this whole time and Hutch at QB.. It would at least make us a two-dimensional team.. and I've seen Hutch throw it around some. Kids got an arm
  12. No one has anything to say with their "statistics" to lionsports?? haha
  13. Reading these posts is awfully disappointing... seeing a lot of fair weather fans. The fact that parents are discussing moving their kids over a coaching change at the high school level shows an extreme lack in character. It is also disappointing to see that people believe that we will go back to being everyone's "homecoming game" if we don't retain a coach (though I also believe Chad Hodge is the route to go). It shows lack of faith in our players that put in the work and will hopefully buy into whatever coach we hires system. Dresden football as a program will be just fine because of the character and hard work the players put into it. The fans, on the other hand, after reading reactions on here, will not be okay apparently until the boys prove they can win under any coach. Good luck, Dresden, and I hope you all can pull off a big season with many wins to prove the "fans" wrong. I also hope Chad is hired because it would make the transition easier and he is a good coach, not because we can't win without him. Go Lions!
  14. Chad Hodge should get the job.. End of story. If not, then it could be a huge mistake. On a side note, however, I believe the players that are there now will buy in to whoever is coaching and their philosophy. Coaches run the program, but players run the team and ultimately decide the outcome. Hard work pays off no matter who is coaching as long as the players are level-minded and cooperative and work hard day in and day out. Should be interesting to see how this whole coaching dilemma plays out. Go Lions!
  15. I appreciate it, yso. I agree about the offense.. hopefully they won't skip a beat if they continue to work hard this offseason. As far as the defense, losing guys like Caldwell, Ben, and Colter could hurt. However, good teams, as far as I'm concerned, do not rebuild. They reload. Those seniors last year left a strong legacy to continue to build on and the guys under them should have learned how to continue their success and step up when they need to. In other words, they will learn just like the ones before them did and will be successful if they are willing to put in the work.
  16. Just out of pure curiosity, where do you get the backing for those numbers and predictions? Because I disagree with your point spreads... a lot. And personally, I disagree with the losses that you are predicting, but that is because I am taking into account the intangibles that Dresden has to offer. Basically, I am just curious about how you came to those wins/losses and point spreads. What logic?
  17. For those of you predicting a mediocre 7-3 season or less than mediocre 5-5 season, that is a shame. Thankfully, however, that is what Dresden football thrives on. I pray that these seniors use it as fuel to outweigh your expectations (especially since no emphasis is being put on their success as a senior class and all the attention is on the youngsters who will have their time to leave a legacy). I expect no less than 10-0 being a proud Dresden alumni who has been in these seniors and team as whole's shoes when it comes to low expectations. Prove your worth this season, Lions and show that it can be done any given year. Seniors, leave a positive legacy for the young and upcoming talented guys to continue to build on in the future. Weight room should be occupied at all hours by everyone. I know of several that are down there constantly, even while playing other sports. Keep it up. Go Lions!
  18. Humboldt has at least two really good athletes on offense with a lot of experience that will make life for Dresden fairly difficult.. The great thing about that though is that Dresden is used to facing those big time athletes when it comes to playoff games and usually (traditionally anyways) overcome the athletes through Hodge's strategy. I don't see this week being any different. Dresden's coaching staff will have our boys ready, and hopefully make a long run if we can get past this team.. Dresden wins in a close one against a very good Humboldt team. Go Lions!
  19. Good luck to the Lions on this homecoming night! Hope everyone gets a chance to play and there are no injuries. Also heard a lot of alumni are coming out for tent city. Sounds like a great idea. Lions win big in this one... Go Lions!
  20. Hold on now... haha. In no way was I knocking the young guys. I'm just saying, now there is definitely no room for mistakes. I want them to do well and am, to your surprise I'm sure, a Dresden fan. Don't get defensive when you are getting support. Now, as I said previously, Go Lions!
