  1. Abby Sissom from Cannon Co. is a tremendous player. Her range is limitless and a very good defender with with great length. And from the games I've seen her play this year she's really passing the ball well (setting her teammates for easy shots). She was a finalist last year and IMO should be the front runner.
  2. District is getting interesting now! I think it is up for grabs in the tournament.
  3. I think the quote you're referring to was in regards to 8-AA's TOP 5 teams not Dekalb, they'll be lucky to stay out if the 8-AA cellar in my opinion.
  4. Watch out for the Lady Tigers of Central Magnet this year!!! I think they are much better than last year.
  5. As a CM fan, I think both players (Abby Sissom/Callie Hackett) would be very deserving of the 8AA MVP. With that being said, I have seen both play and if you compare aspects of the game side-by-side IMO Sissom is clearly the better player and would be my choice. They both can get to the paint anytime they want too against single defenders, perhaps Hackett is the better pure ball handler but that edge wouldn’t be by much if any, I say even there. Both are good defenders, probably Hackett is the better “on the ball†but when you factor in length (creating steals) and defensive rebounding again I think the edge goes to Sissom. I think that Sissom sees the floor and gets the ball to her teammates for easy buckets better, giving her the edge for playmaking/assists (when I’ve seen Hackett when she drives she’s going to try to score). And if you consider Sissom’s ability to create and knock down her own shot is the one area Hackett’s game doesn’t compare to Sissom (I would expect that part of her game to be there in the future but not yet). I’m sure both are excellent role models and well thought of in there communities. Not saying that Hackett is not a great player and easily the 2nd best player in 8AA but just think Sissom is clearly the better player right now. As far as taking players off teams and where they would finish….I really believe that we would have beaten Cannon both times if they didn’t have Sissom and we have already beaten Smith Co. once and held Hackett in check in our 1 game against them (she may have 40 against us next time but won’t change my opinion).
  6. The same scenario where Dekalb went to Livingston and took them to OT(did anyone think that would happen?)....and from what I've heard should have beaten them in regulation. I don't think Coach Riddle would overlook but players are teenagers (refer back to how teenagers are). Would it be possible they were not focused when they played Dekalb? When you are a team like LA and all you do year after year is beat teams like DC/CM there is always the chance the players will not quite be ready. Upsets happen all the time for that reason and we've seen it already this year.
  7. No doubt LA is the favorite and rightly so.....but I can see a scenario were maybe we can sneak up on LA.
  8. 3-1 district record for the Lady Tigers going against Livingston 4-1. A big game because after Friday one of the teams will have 2 8AA losses. Long trip from Murfreesboro to Overton Co. and tough place to play not to mention playing the #3 team in the state but I think a win in possible for CM! Thoughts? Predictions?
  9. HUGE win for Central M last night over Smith Co.! Now sitting @ 2-1 and in 3rd place in 8-AA!!
  10. Not seen everyone yet but when Cannon's clicking they're very impressive. There's a lot more to them than just the Sissom girl.
  11. I wouldn't bet on DC beating Central this year.
  12. Central will be the surprise of 8AA this year!!!!
  13. If that's true then that is WOW!! I thought Blackman would be the best team in murfreesboro this year.
  14. Central will surprise some people this year......they hung tough in a number of the district games including the last game of the year against Upperman. So don't sleep on Central with everybody returning!
