  1. 2minutedrill, honestly I just like debating you and John John. As far as Coach Martin, I;m not a supporter or hater, However I do respect what he did at GP, you can:t argue with his success. I would ask the question of why does GP replace Martin with a 500 coach. Just like I was discussing with JJ on another thread, time will give us all the answers we need. If this new coach fails to win more than half his games, then I'm sure he won't be the only one replaced. However if he goes out and goes to state next year, I;m sure you will be the first to offer congrats.
  2. I don't see CPA letting up now, it's crunch time and they will be ready. I believe it's easy to read all the press and have let downs, but now all teams are good and I don't see anybody taken for granted that CPA draws.
  3. John John, have you been to the Goodpasture football website lately? No talent? Players getting ready for the pro combine? The FBS freshman of the year (2012, not 2002)?What are you talking about? I guess you will be the first to fall off the ole GP bandwagon and head over to Stewarts Creek.
  4. OH, here we go.......David Martin has been a head coach how long? Ingle Martin, 2 years. Let's put CPA with Ingle Martin coaching in 2a and see how many state titles he wins. If I am not mistaken Ingle has won the same number of state titles as D Martin in 3a. As far as CPA's BB coach, lets see.....exactly where did he attend school????Do you really want to get into this subject? Look, don't get your panties in a wad, I will be the first to say that Coach Martin put Goodpasture football on the map. No disputing what he did there. The one big issue here is some of you posters since the start of this thread showing your true colors, you are not Goodpasture supporters, but Martin supporters first and foremost. No issue here, I;m sure the loyal Goodpasture fans won't mind you taking your support to Rutherford Cty next fall, especially considering the high esteem you have for the new coach. Also, according to one of the Goodpature fans I spoke with at the playoff game, he said the suspended players were all on the field and that the team was 100% for the game, his words, not mine. Also. John John said Martin could not hire his defense coaches? What's that all about? I guess the parents and big boosters were behind this also (the same ones who had Peden hired weeks before Martin left)? Lastly, I would be very careful about saying one school wins at all costs, you may be looking in the mirror. I challenge you to name any football player on CPA's team this year who was there at all costs.
  5. 2minute drill, I;m responding to your post on the BB forum regarding FRA's coach blowing another state title opp as well as you previous comment on this blog.Perhaps the parents and big boosters can improve on the 5-6 record and perhaps put up more than the token defense Martin showed against CPA. Oh, my bad, this was not the coaches fault, it was all on the players. If this is the case then Martin should have gone down to Maplewood and got a few more studs since the only way he can win is totally out talent the other teams. It's kind of funny that Ingle Martin took a CPA program that Goodpasture had basically ruled and has OWNED Goodpasture with the same players the previous coach had. Do you and other true Goodpasture fans who are Martin loyalists stop to think that possibly this was the best thing for Martin in this stage of his career to move to another challenge and get the juices flowing again?
  6. So are you asking FRA fans if the coach should be fired because he did not win state? What is his overall record? And how about his integrity? It seems to me you are not so quick to ask the same question to a certain football coach in Madison who had the best QB in the history of the school and couldn't win state and as a matter of fact only got to one state game in four years with this QB? So I ask you the same question, was this failure coaching or motivation?
  7. I do understand where you are coming from, thanks for the explanation. As I said before, I believe Coach Martin will do well no matter where he lands. With that being said, it really doesn't matter who Goodpasture selects as the next head coach because we will find out soon enough if this was a good move or not by Goodpasture. I have read the blog on Martin on the 1&2A site and from what the fan base indicates, there is not much talent to work with there. I understand Goodpasture's schedule in 2013 is more difficult than in recent years past, even with moving down to 2A. Therefore, if the next coach improves on the record they had in 2012, then it was a good move. If not, you have to question the decision. Case in point, I saw CPA play basketball vs. Goodpasture this year and the game was close until the last few minutes of the 4th qtr. From talking to some Goodpasture fans at the game, they strongly said the talent is the same as 2011 for the most part, but the team is 200% better compared to 2011. Only difference is coaching. They said this team would have been run out of the gym by the 1st qtr in 2011. Lets talk in November....
  8. Out of all due respect, can you please stop trying to speak in code and explain? How do you know it was Peden's job? what do you mean the brakes were put on? Explain what disaster occured? More than a coaching change? Is everyone at the school going to be fired?Let's hear specifics. It;s easy to be vague so later you can cover your rear end if things don't turn out anywhere close to what you post. What do you mean guys are pulling out? What uncertainies? For what it's worth, I agree with you that I believe Martin will do a good job if he is the coach. The only issue he or any coach will have will be having patience for a new school to develop. Do you think he can handle starting a program from scratch?
  9. I'm not sure if they will continue the series with CPA, but it was developing into a good series.I will miss these games if they discontinue playing. I think LA has solid group of seniors coming up so I see an improvement over 2012. Good luck to LA in 2013.
  10. JohnJohn, are you sure about this hire? I kind of thought he would wind up in Williamson County. Has Peden started at Goodpasture yet? If not, when does he start? Since this is a done deal, what's the delay?
  11. I would have to agree. How many D! players did BA put into colleges in the 90's? I don't believe anyone in the state put more kids into college during the same time frame.
  12. So I guess when you recently asked if Peden had been to his new office yet, you were referring to his office at BGA? It is funny how several Goodpasture people have said a deal was done weeks ago with Peden with some important people at a church. Now there are many prospective coaches interviewing, so I again ask you , cougarconfidential Fbboys and other Goodpasture posters who said Peden was a sure thing and even hired weeks ago, why go through this process if he is the man? As far as CPA and Goodpasture game, Cougarconfidential how do you know this? Were you part of the scheduling committee?
  13. You may say Maddux is over rated, but this could change if he gets 3-4 titles under his belt.
  14. He has some good talent to work with next year ,in particular in the skill positions. I wonder how Vic Jr will be used in the offense? Will he use the same offense he had at Oak Ridge?
  15. Thanks for the info. Will Goodpasture and CPA play this year? I read something on the Goodpasture website that they have had high interest in the position. Is this article correct or is this guy on the website blowing smoke? Who is the other candidate you referred to?
  16. What division are they in for 2013, 3a or 4a?
  17. Fbboys, you and 2minutedrill were sure Peden had already been hired 2 weeks ago. What happened? Why are they conducting interviews if he has been hired? They are not legally required to go through the same process as a public school I would not think (posting for several weeks, etc...). Also, where is Coach Martin headed? I thought sure he would get Ravenwood. Have you heard the schedule as far as CPA playing Goodpasture?
  18. Hogan, you appear to have a good knowledge of who the leading coaches are for the open positions in middle TN, who do you see as being the leaders at Goodpasture. I know the Peden fellow has been mentioned, but who would you say are the top 4 or 5 in the race?
  19. I thought Martin was the leader for this job. What happened? Is he in play at Indy?
  20. This is one of, if not the best, job opening in TN this year. They will not have a problem getting a great coach.
  21. I agree you do a goog job with the broadcasts,Do you get paid to do the broadcast or is this all on a volunteer basis? I know some schools have video such as CPA. Any plans on this for the future? How long does it take you each week to get ready for the games? Do you also do the website as well as I know you share some of the games there. Good job.
  22. What if this guy is not even interested? I believe he is on the staff at BGA now, he may have to take a pay cut to go to Goodpasture. It will be intresting to see what all the posters who are in the know will say if they hire someone else. I remember some in the CPA family were upset when the previous staff was dismissed two years ago with simular rumors, mad parents, lack of production, etc, the list goes on. Funny how only loosing 3 games in two years make some forget and forgive. Anyhow, if Martin is as good as you say he won't stay unemployed long, We have 2 openings in Williamson Cty for football. I guess time will tell.
  23. i believe this is a great job for the correct guy. Ravenwood should contend for the dist each year.
  24. Who are some of the hardest hitters who will "lay the wood" in 3A and 4A this year? What are some of the hardest hits you have seen in games in 2012?
  25. Agree, should be good, Greenville, Signal Mtn, Covington, Giles, Livingston, Lexington. Look out for darkhorse DeKalb Cty.
