  1. Different places handle this type of thing differently - especially based on prior experiences. Where have you been offered a job? It might help by you by getting some advice from someone in that area.
  2. To say Mills is nowhere close to his league is unnecessary and inaccurate. Everyone has said Key is better but it's not a wide margin. And to imply that no one stood out when they played shows that maybe you weren't paying attention. The tennessean box score shows that Key had 29 and Mills had 27 that game. Did Van Buren get handled- absolutely, but there's no need to make it out like Mills had a bad game because the team got beat. Again, Key is really good...let's just leave it at that and leave the negativity off the board. Especially, when it's so far off.
  3. Key is without a doubt one of the 3 best players in class A. He might be one of the 3 best in any classification. Mills is very good as well, and definitely good enough to be in the conversation, but I don't think it's as clear cut with him as it is with Key.
  4. Looking like Lookout Valley and Richard Hardy are much better than originally given credit for. Anyone going to rework their rankings? I'll take my first stab at it with: Sale Creek Lookout Valley Richard Hardy Van Buren South Pittsburg Marion County Whitwell
  5. I didn't watch Pickett but heard they were impressive. Van Buren won their division of the James C Hale. I think they played one division below Pickett. Handled some good teams including friendship.
  6. No idea if they played head to head or not. Just saw Van Buren at the James c hale and was very impressed.
  7. I heard Van Buren's coach was named their county's Director of Schools. If so, does anyone know if she's still going to be the head coach?
  8. I think Van Buren has a very comparable freshman class.
  9. My predictions Sale Creek South Pitt Lookout Valley Whitwell Van Buren Marion RH
  10. Watertown has definitely played some teams tough and there is definitely some big games still yet to be played. Plus there are some other things involved like FCS has had some injuries, Clay has had players in and out, and watertown has FCS's coach from last year so that game is like a rivalry thing right now. I'm just going off who most in this area expect to be the strongest come tournament play. I would assume your side does the same assuming that say Valley will still be stronger come tourney play than teams they've lost to like South Pittsburg and Van Buren. As for Clay and Van Buren, you must have glanced quickly or there must have been a typo because the scores you just quoted are backward. Clay swept Van Buren and I just checked their team pages which show as much.
  11. Yes, I was more referring to who will play opposite CSAS in the region final as they are the prohibitive favorite, but I would caution counting your chickens before they hatch! Crazy things happen in tournament play. As for this side my prediction would be: jackson, rbs, clay, fcs. And I do not know who is playing and not playing right now this week. The weather is crazy!
  12. Yes, it was a close game, but my point was that Watertown is rebuilding. They are a middle of the pack team over here in our district and not one of the favorites to advance from our region (that would be jackson, fcs, rbs, and clay). After watching the game I'm just hoping there is another strong team to complement CSAS from your region. If your boys at Signal are coming together as you say and are a contender I can't imagine Van Buren putting up much resistance. Who else might contend besides Signal and CSAS over there? Grace? Anyone else - or is it just a 3 team race?
  13. I don't how everyone is over on that side of the district and region, but you better hope someone like Signal is good enough to represent the region with CSAS. Our side knows that whoever gets CSAS in the substate has their work cut out for them, but if someone like Van Buren is representing you then it will get ugly. I saw them against watertown and they looked - well let's just say they left much to be desired. They were not impressive at all. So I hope for your region's sake that Signal is far and away the next best team behind CSAS because I think we would all prefer to see competitive contests.
  14. Have you seen any of these games tbolt? Anyone impress/surprise you- good or bad?
  15. Well- How is this district looking so far? I am having trouble finding scores/standings so I am curious if the earlier predictions are holding to form. I know its early, but I'm guessing district games have started.
  16. Well some interesting thoughts on here for sure. First though, I'm curious as to who Lookout Valley lost or if they even really did? Also, how certain is that Signal Mtn is moving up after this year? As for how this district should fair in the region I have to agree with the poster who said pretty good minus CSAS- they have to be considered the heavy favorite. In the district however I'm not so sure I agree with some of the other predictions. I'm not sure how Sale Creek should do unless they have had some transfers. They lost some players and I'm sure other teams in the district have also worked very hard in the offseason. That said though I think Coach Helton does a good job and the 2nd year in the system should help a lot. I think Van Buren is probably being sold a little short as I don't think they lost anyone. Whitwell's big guy should also prove to cause many teams problems this season. I'm thinking it looks something like this: 1. Signal 2. Lookout Valley 3.-5. Sale Creek/Whitwell/Van Buren 6.-7. Marion/South Pitt 8. Richard Hardy
  17. I doubt it. I'm sure they have got some 19 year old underclassmen.
  18. Anyone have any info on the new 6A district? I see they have moved out CSAS and brought in Marion and Van Buren. Anyone have any news on how this thing might shake out and who the favorites are? Can anyone contend with CSAS and Grace from the other side?
  19. 1. UC 2. Manassas 3. CSAS 4. Moore Co. 5. Culleoka 6. Humboldt 7. Temple 8. Nashville Christian 9. Pickett Co. 10. Van Buren Co.
  20. I'm trying to convince our coach to take us out West for better competition this summer and I was wondering where the top A teams usually went? UT-martin? memphis? union? Anyone with information would be greatly appreciated.
  21. Hey I remember you guys had a really good one in Rigsby a few years back, but I don't remember this kid. Is he new? young? or is the tennessean incorrect? Give us more information. 43 is a big night and this kid deserves some pub. Wish you guys were still in our old district.
  22. If I'm not mistaken VB also made improvements from the year before. I'm not sure but maybe eagle can back me up on this.
  23. Yeah- I heard they really ripped off middleton last year. Heard they stuck it to Bolivar for the last 2 years, too. Oh, wait a minute, those guys won.
  24. The sizes listed by sunshine are accurate- believe nothing that devil says. Here are some other things to watch out for: -#33 will will "palm" the ball everytime he has it which makes him almost impossible to guard. Send him right and hope for the best. -their whole team flops constantly. they will do this trying to take charges and while setting screens. If you blow on them in these situations they will fall down and act as if they've been shot. -#23 loses his cool very easy. And when he does he is not nearly effective. -#14 is their best player, but who knows when they will throw him the ball. They are a good team, but temple handed them their trip to the state with missed lay-ups. Pound it inside and you'll be fine. Oh, and question to clay county: why would you have a sign up at your substate game that says "K some A"? Very poor taste if you ask me.
  25. Although these 2 teams are MUCH better than anyone in our district, it is ridiculous to think they can compete with temple and grace this year. Take it to the bank- both team's seasons are over.
