In 3A I agree about the final 8. CAK, Notre Dame, and Alcoa will be strong again. In the midstate it's going to be CPA and Stratford. Out west look for Milan and Liberty to be strong.
Is that a joke or are y'all serious? Tonight's Maryville vs Ravenwood game did have the feel of the 2005 Riverdale vs Oak Ridge semifinal game and we all know what happened shortly after that one.
BASED OFF OF THIS WEEKEND ONLY
1.). Alcoa: nobody can score on that defense
2.). Independence
3.). Ravenwood
4.). Brentwood Academy
5.). MBA
6.). Maryville
7.). Knoxville Catholic
8.). Trezevant
9.). CPA
10.). Nashville Christian
I did not include teams that I didn't see play this weekend obviously.
With the upcoming opening of the new high school that will draw from Ravenwood it may be time for Hester to seek something else while his stock is at it's highest.
Ravenwood winning tonight is huge! Congrats to them on their second state title in the brief history of the school.
Congrats to Maryville on another awesome season. As someone said that streak had to eventually end at some point.
The officials missed a blatant block in the back when 27 was clipped but give him a questionable personal foul call. At this point Maryville is going to have more penalty yards than Trezevant
Did those big linemen play for Catholic when they met? CPA wasn't as physical up front as everyone saw yesterday. I don't see how they scored 38 on that team.
I can't resist. Both PC and CPA had great seasons. Both of them were out classed by better teams from east TN. It happens. It doesn't take away from both of their great seasons.
When Pearl beat Lipscomb in the second round they made big plays including a huge run by #2 and a punt return for a TD by #2. Lipscomb's size up front game them trouble in that game and they were able to win it with big plays.
I figured the Knoxville Catholic game would be a same story type of case but apparently Catholic has skilled guys to go with their linemen as well.
This game was the biggest mismatch of the weekend on paper. Trezevant wins a state title in spite of their countless mistakes because they are a 4A school beating up on 2A teams. Congrats to the Bears on the state title and to the Warriors on a great season.
