  1. It will be interesting to see if they change up the regions again.
  2. What do you consider success? WB has had winning seasons and hosted playoff games.
  3. Thanks. I don't see anyone beating you guys and we played awful. I knew it was over when we kept getting stupid penalties early in the game.
  4. It is understandable. They look almost identical to one another out on the field and one wears #16 and the other one wears #15.
  5. We brought in our backup QB and let him play the whole second half. Most of our starters are young. The receiver who had our highlight play of the game is a sophomore.
  6. I don't even care about the concept of running up the score. I got past that years ago. A big part of the WB experience is getting blasted at least a few times a year. It's just that it doesn't make sense to have your stud qb in the game running around, hurdling guys, and dodging sacks when the game is beyond over. Sure, there is always a risk for injury. But in a close game, you are trying to win the game. What are you trying to accomplish up 49-0 with a running clock? It just seems like a needless risk. And you are 100% correct. We should have stayed home. We have a long tradition of laying eggs in fall break games. Someone said the Govs were going to "Lay Down Sally" and played that song yesterday afternoon. It was funny, but it ended up being prophetic.
  7. Oh, I wasn't implying they were trying to run up the score. It was just odd. WB never even got off the bus tonight. The game was over in the first quarter.
  8. How many touchdowns has Greenback scored this year? Lol
  9. What was the point of Elizabethton having their starters out on the field late in the 3rd quarter with a running clock and a 49-0 lead? The Cyclones have a state championship caliber squad. It makes no sense to needlessly put your starters out there and risk injuries like that.
  10. Go Govs! It is perfect weather for football.
  11. There ain't nothin but Steers n Beers in Texas. That Johnny Lawrence feller knows a thing or two bout getting swept.
  12. McMinn by 7. Maryville's offense is missing something this year, but their defense is still elite. I just think McMinn has enough firepower to outscore them in a low scoring game. Oh, and McMinn has a decent passing game this year, plus Maryville's insane region win streak is due to end. How's it going Pepvol?
  13. I just heard what happened. That is messed up. I'm not sure what he hoped to accomplish by doing that.
  14. The Governors got a huge 44-20 win on the road at Sevier County tonight, and we will be on the road at Elizabethton next Friday. Last year this was a good game where the Cyclones had to come from behind to win, and I'm expecting another competitive game this year. Tonight at Sevier County the Govs rushed for around 300 yards in Bryston Williams' return from a one-game suspension. We really struggled in the run game early in the season, but it looks like the line is finally starting to gel at the right time.
  15. We don't get home cooking at home. Anyone who says otherwise is living in fantasy. At one point they made efforts to get Knoxville refs to do our games because of how bad our officials were. Yes, we have bad refs. No, they don't benefit us. They are just bad
  16. Barney, I saw that PI play up close and I also agree that it was a questionable call. At the same time, WB also got the short end of a few of those personal foul calls. From where I was standing, Heritage initiated most of those situations, but either WB or both teams got punished because WB retaliated. I really hate the way refs call personal fouls. The way they do it almost encourages players to start stuff because they know they can get away with it or break even. But that's just my take. As for the game, WB also had a lot of missed opportunities. How many balls did our receivers drop last night? Slow starts have been our thing this year. It's not about how you start , though; it's about how you finish. I was surprised by Heritage. They had a few really nice players and good size. They could surprise a few teams this season. I don't think they should give up on the season by any means.
  17. I had my doubts for awhile, but I knew we had it when we got that defensive stop with a few minutes left.
  18. Ah dang, KWC was such a nice guy on here. RIP buddy.
  19. Barney, I think the Govs will be okay. What killed us was a really bad start due to the fact that we are still working out kinks (really struggling to run the ball). The mental aspect of playing at Ooltewah - a place the Govs have never won -was also a factor. After we got down 14-0 in the first quarter I really thought it would turn into a mercy rule affair, but the Govs settled in and played okay after that.
  20. I miss the days when Waco was complaining about the defensive coaching. lol
