  1. C-D couldn't stop our pass. We rushed well because they were bailing out at the snap. I think if we would have been a run first offense it woulda been tough sledding. I don't know if WG can run at C-D all night and put up 40. I think that if C-D wins up front and Malone gets a crease, or if WG let's him get the corner, he's fast enough to make it pay off. I know the Gap took the corners away from him and forced him to run inside against some pretty decent linebackers and they punished him all night, and at the end he was still running as hard as he was early on. In the end I think boths teams strengths are their ground games. I just think C-D will have an easier time stopping WG, and think that C-D will eventually wear down the Buffs defense. These opinion are entirely based on what I.saw against the Gap, so things with C-D and WG could be different now this late in the season, but I still think C-D pulls away in the second half. C-D -41 WG - 20
  2. If it's at Claiborne and the same officiating crew that called the Gap game show up, the Rebs may as well stay at home.
  3. Saw the Gap play them both. I think C-D is bigger and stronger up front. Couple that with chasing Malone all night and I think C-D pulls away.
  4. All Doak needs is a few stops, WG won't stop the Malone kid. CD - 41 WG - 20
  5. Oh, and by the way. I sat on the visitors side and 3 older gents,( Devils fans ) made their way over and sat behind me...absolutely terrific gentlemen. We discussed everything from GHS to GAP to UT football and life in general, they were great. I hope when im at that age, im still able to get out and enjoy watching kids play ball. Goodnight fellas, wherever you are.
  6. Not enough depth for the Gap. When you get tired and banged up, you start to make stupid mistakes, and good teams like the Devils...make you pay for them. Good luck the rest of the way and on the title defense Greene Machine.
  7. Made the game, running a bit behind, not gonna make the hill. Thanks for the invite tho fellas.
  8. Hey BVD, we're gonna leave the Gap early enough that we arrive on the Hill by 6:30...that be soon enough to grub and BS with the coacht Greene Machine crew?
  9. I meant 'local' as of right now, I shoulda explained that better. By the way, who do I shoot a text to when I get to GHS Friday night, to make sure I hook up with the coacht crowd before the game starts?
  10. I could see that GDA. Case has been able to get WG going in the right direction, he's a local guy and the Hurricanes like winning.
  11. Well...if im gonna drive to Greene County, im driving to the metropolis to watch the Greene Machine and the Gap.
  12. Ill have to look again, just glanced at the schedule, could be.
  13. Probably not gonna travel to Greeneville for the Gap game. So I guess i'll see you Buffs fans at Claiborne friday night.
  14. Claiborne is bigger and stronger up front compared to WG, the Buffs are gonna have the advantage in speed at the skill positions. Perfect match-up if WG could throw it around some. As it is, I think if Claiborne can control the edges when they're on D, they will win. I expect Claiborne to also have the advantage when running between the tackles. That's why I took Claiborne.
  15. WOW!! Tough pick. Both of Claiborne's wins are against winless teams and both of the Buff's wins were against smaller schools. Ill take Claiborne just on the fact that I think they have played the tougher schedule so they may be a bit more seasoned. CHS 20 - WGHS 13
  16. T H A T... was funny BVD... We down here in the Gap will take all the laughs we can get at the Devils expense for the time being.....cause I got a feeling the laughter is gonna be dead by about 8 p.m. Friday night.
  17. About a 60 / 40 split, pass to run GDA. Last week vs. C-D pass stats were 17-21 300 yds. 3 TD's. While the starting RB only had 8 carries (he picked up 123 on 8, there were more carries by the QB and the relief RB's). I'd expect more pass against the Devils as I don't expect the Gap to be able to control the LOS.
  18. Looking like the Rebs finish 1-9 this season.
  19. Maybe WG can install the spread in the next 3 weeks On a serious note, I don't understand why C-D and WG don't do more than left, right, up the gut. C-D seemed to have as many athletes as the Gap, yet for the Gap all they had to do was focus on Malone. On the other hand, when the Gap was on offense they were forcing C-D to defend 6. 4 WR a RB and a QB... You gotta like those odds, and the results speak for themselves. Since the doors were opened at the Gap they're 7-3 versus WG and 8-2 versus C-D, and only .500 (5-5) versus SG, but, SG will put athletes on the field and throw it enough to make you account for everyone. I know there have been years that the Gap didn't have half the athletes as the Greene Co. schools, but won because of the reasons I've mentioned.
  20. I'm gonna go with Doak, Bud. C-D's bigger up front and Malone is a good back. C-D's offense hinges on getting Malone to the edge, or into open field at the linebacker level, so he can use speed and athleticism. If the Buff's can set the edge on defense and force him to run in traffic, maybe they can slow him down. If he gets the edge, or if WG can't keep their linebackers clean, he's gonna run right by everybody. He had over 200 against the Gap, almost 100 came from 2 runs in the 1st quarter, after the Gap denied him the edge and forced him back inside, it took the rest of the game for him to earn the other hundred and something. On defense, I don't think WG can run straight at them, so misdirection and speed to the edge should be more effective. If WG could throw the ball, play action to the flats and play action to the shallow corner pattern all night long. The Gap also threw the wheel route after they loosened the C-D defense up by throwing downfield. We were able to average about 12 yards per carry on the ground, because of the threat of the pass. All that being said, WG just doesn't match up well with C-D (my opinion) WG offense plays right into C-D's defensive strength, and WG youth and size up front on defense, plays to C-D's favor when Doak has the ball.
  21. Turns out Pops you were right. Once the Gap got their DE's to stay home, it was basically the end of C-D's offense. Malone had 2 TD's of over 40 yards before that adjustment, afterwards he worked for every yard. As far as your comment on C-D's defense. The Gap put up over 500 yards on them. The Gaps QB was 17-21 for 300 even with 3 TD's and rushed for 3 more. Their starting RB had 123 on 8 carries. I didn't look at the rush yards for the QB or other RB's but the total offense was over 500.
  22. 55-27 Gap, but not that close. Gap gave up a cheap safety and a long TD run. Gap started taking a knee on KO's in the second half and gave it over on downs inside the C-D 5 yard line at the end. Coulda been an uglier score, no need for it though. A win is a win. Good luck to C-D the rest of the way.
