  1. Olddawg, Get over it. The school is changing, the old heads are getting removed. Ever stop to think that these coaches weren't doing things the right way? Just because you're winning doesn't mean you're doing things the right way. Ever stop to think, maybe there is some truth to the Blevins accusations? He had those kids petrified to play another sport. Is that permissible? And why would the principal, getting paid over 100k at the biggest HS in the county take a Middle school principal job at a private school? That's absurd. You sound like a disgruntled parent whose son was treated like royalty because he was probably one of the better players. Change always makes complacent people uncomfortable, and maybe these coaches at Bearden enjoyed being complacent, and Bartlett didn't want that. Bartlett hired a good human in Parrott, it's High school Basketball, you don't need Roy Williams, you need someone that's going to be disciplined, know how to manage players, make them better over their four years, and maximize their potential. When I think of the previous Bearden coaches that have been removed, I don't think "maximizing potential" and you can ask former players about that. All I'm saying is don't act like you know exactly what's going on, when you're just a disgruntled former parent peeking in from the window, upset that Beardens made changes.
  2. I am not sure what the fascination with Brad Taylor is in this area. Some people think he is the Jon Gruden of Knox county football while I've heard from some that he badly underperformed his last years at Bearden. And if you under perform at Bearden what does that mean you're going to do with Karn's athletes....
  3. Knox county use to use both TEAM and TAP. Not sure if that's still the case, but I know it was at one point. Believe the bigger issue Knox county has is completely selling out to a coach. Letting them bring a staff in and get rid of any person holding the program back. Will be anxious to see how much movement a new HC will be allowed to have at Karns when it comes to staff.
  4. Tobi Kilgore resigned yesterday. As far as I can see he made a lot of changes and did a decent job at trying to get that placed turned around. Looks like he wanted to pursue other options. Haven't heard any names as of yet. Who are the top candidates to get the job at Karns? Do they stay in Knox county or do they bring some one from outside in? What will it take to turn that place around?
  5. I have heard through the Grapevine that the Final Candidates are down to: Greeneville's OC Cody Baugh Bearden's OC Paul Shelton Sevier county's OC Angelo Raga Has anyone heard who else has interviewed for the position? Interested to see which direction the Chiefs go with this choice.
  6. Science Hill looked extremely athletic and BIG!!. Bearden played them Man to Man for 4 quarters. Beardens QB is unreal, he was making unbelievable throws all night. Science Hill passed the eye test, I kept waiting for one of their stud athletes to take over but they never got free except for a couple times. Science Hill will be a tough matchup for the first two rounds of the playoffs for whoever they draw.
  7. It looked to me as if he had region 1 #1&4 seeds in one bracket and the region 1 #2&3 in the other. The one I put has region 1 seeds 1&3 in one bracket and 2&4 in the other
  8. Topper nation, Would the setup not be : Region 1- #1________ Region 2 - #8________ Region 2 - #4_________ Region 1 - #5 _________ Region 1 - #3_______ Region 2 -#6______ Region 2 -#2______ Region 1- #7______ Then repeated in the other bracket. If not then why do you think they would do it otherwise?
  9. I believe Bradley pulls of the first real upset of the year in the Big East. That QB at BC has the ability to go out and win a game for them, and I think this is the night he gets it done under the bright lights in Kingsport. DB has a very strong Offensive Line. They don't seem to be as dynamic on the perimeter as in years past though. Ill say BC 34 DB 31.
  10. "Excessive Running"? You mean he is a marathon trainer or something? Farragut def. outmatched Bearden, but Bearden has a long way to go athletically, in the weight room, and in the community, but at least they don't look as awful as they did last year. WB is in the same boat, much better schematically than years prior, probably has better community support than Bearden, but not near the athletes of Bearden. 2 teams in rebuilding mode, probably won't get the areas top refs. I bet this is a sloppy game. Bearden 28 WB 24
  11. Expect a shootout. 42-38 Admirals Should be an entertaining game!!!!!
  12. DB gets back on track. 42-7 Maryville breezes through to the holiday weekend. 60-3 Not so fast my friend, welcome to the new conference Bradley. Bradley wins. 35-21 Best matchup of the conference this week, Bearden has a stellar QB, but we will see what he does against a strong and fast defense. This one is a nail biter. Bearden wins late. 28-24.
  13. Both teams introduced a new offense last week with 2 totally different results. Bearden's QB looked impressive in the win, with some big throws down the field. Powell's new offense struggled to get going against a stout Farragut Defense. Powell will be improved, but I am betting that Bearden keeps rolling. 42-7.
  14. Both teams looking to turn the program around. Have heard good things coming from both programs during the offseason. Does the OKSt. commit dominate, or does Bearden finally turn it around?
  15. Sounds like you are pretty close to the program to have all that information... From reading and talking to people around the program it sounds like the offense last year had no identity, no leadership, and not any well coached O-Lineman. So if what Bulldog is saying is true, it sounds like they are at least being coached this year. I'd rather have an unproven OC that has a plan, leadership qualities, and a drive to coach fundamentals, Then an OC that won state championship rings in high school, no plan, and can't lead. P.S. Maybe Shinlever is improving his staff and making necessary changes because coaches could not get the job done last year.
  16. I heard the bulldogs started spring ball yesterday, any body get a look at them?
  17. I believe this will be a very competitive conference, and will be worth making it out to games to watch. I believe DB returns a very solid RB, not sure what science Hill lost. those two and Maryville are the favorites obviously but im interested to see what Bradley brings to the table. Hardin Valley will have to prove it can compete year in and year out at a high level. Bearden, I think is interesting with all their changes on staff. Should be a whole new team With some young talent.
  18. PrepXtra â€@prepxtra 8m8 minutes ago Hearing same. Good hire MT @AustinPriceless West has recommended Loudon's Jeff Harig to be next HC. Announcement first of next week. Reports that its Jeff Harig taking over. Does anybody know his background? Where he has been at?
  19. I sense a bit of hostility! I followed a few local schools closely this season but Bearden was not one of them.. Probably because of all the losses. I know I haven't seen that any of there players have signed anywhere this offseason and that's usually not a good sign for a program.. The head coach is Shinlever right? but who is the OC?
  20. It'll be interesting to see how Bearden improves this coming season. I only saw them during the Maryville 7on7 and I thought they had some good looking athletes. Should be tough with this new conference alignment, but they should be back to being one of the top teams in the Knoxville area soon… Right?
  21. Lets slow down on the DB 10-0 season and the Science Hill not having trouble… DB plays a very good Oak Ridge team, both play Maryville, Bradley Central who has a dynamite QB, and a Hardin Valley & Bearden team that has no where to go but up. Gone are the days where each school plays 9 games where they have superior talent and way better coaching. Not saying they won't win some games, but there isn't a whole lot of Volunteers, Centrals, and Davy Crocketts anymore.
  22. HTV, Don't you think that coming off a State Championship that there will be a flood of applicants from outside the system? Also, I have had a couple people tell me that there may be a set of brothers outside the county that would be very interested in the position….
  23. Who are the early favorites to step in and take over the program? I know a lot of people will be applying for this position, but are there any favorites locally that may get it?
  24. Catholic wins by 3 tds. Sucks for a good Betsy team which is in a tough Quadrant. Betsy fans, is Witten going to stay at Betsy after this year? I had heard he wanted to leave last year, but chose to stay.
