  1. I just read on DNJ.com that Blackman athletics have suffered more vandalism. The baseball facilites and the football facilites were spray-painted with profanity and broken into. The article said there was around 10 grand in damages. This is the 2nd time the football facilites have been damaged since Shad came on the scene. His quote in the paper was it was "kids acting silly?" What kind of quote is that to say? This is getting to be ridiculous. These kids need to be prosecuted and somone needs to be made an example. I am waiting to hear the latest rant from nrgrizzles .........jeopardy music.......
  2. Good luck to the coaches heading to Coffee County. They will get to deal with Red Raider for Life and they will need it. Lots of good folk up that way and very loyal posters . Hope they get enough coaches to fill their roster. Gone are the days where staffs like RHS had 30 crusing on the sidelines. I think we are starting to see a shortage. Lots of the young guys can't take the long hrs and the flack you get for what you do or don't do these days.
  3. I have several Gallatin buddies and it was common knowledge that the Williams brothers are very special to Green Wave fans. They left there to coach here if I am remembering it right. I would guess that maybe the head coach is contemplating retirement and Mark is wanting to be considered as his replacement with this move. That is purely speculation on my part at this point though.
  4. I am out of the Rutherford County loop, but I do know their defensive coodinator, Keasler, got the head coach at the new Summitt High School In Williamson County. That is a step up, RIGHT?
  5. I was very saddened to hear this news. I hope Tink continues to improve. Being in great shape will help him recover physically, but it is the mental anguish of losing his girlfriend that frightens me. Those emotional scars are hard to handle. Prayers for Carson and his family and friends. Tink, hang in there good buddy. Your boy 2P is cheering you on.
  6. Keep your thoughts with Coach Rick Collins and family. He is an asst principal at OHS, and former football coach at Riverdale. He collapsed at breakfast in Indiana with his heart and had to be revived. They have to do bypass surgery on him.
  7. Yes, this old man has Kentucky bluegrass under his feet these days. My weekends in the Boro will be few and far between this year but I will keep my ear glued to WGNS online to help me control my Oakland fix. OHS has a lot of young talent , and looks to have a real strong group of freshmen coming in. In fact, my sources say there are two of them that may see some varsity time before it is all said and done. Development is the key and we shall see exactly what this staff is made of this year. There were some bumps and bruises from within at the end of the year and seeing how they are able to blend back together is key to success. Sometimes you have to "coach to the kid" instead of coaching them all the same way. Different techniques work with some and ruin others. Finding that balance can be tough for young guys . I feel we are going to excel this year.
  8. My guess is that he didn't want to teach there. It said in the paper link that he was a non-faculty coach. That sort of shocked me. I didn't think a coordinator should or could be a volunteer coach. Lots of responsibilites to deal with during the day to not be on site. But.....guess things are different in WC than in Rutherford.
  9. Don't forget, it is no good w/o the laptop.
  10. He was at Oakland too once upon a time with our freshmen.
  11. Does he have head coach experience? I just don't understand why you would want to hire a guy with any kind of questions about funds. It might not be true, but it still starts your program off with a black eye on the guy they are supposed to look up to. Surely there are others with cleaner pasts? I would be interested in hearing what kevin, firstandgoal, or fredsamuel have to say about this one and if the guy on the committee they were talking about insisted on this candidate.
  12. I do think some reality is setting in at Oakland. I hope the maturity level picks up and the ship gets righted. I agree that the climate has changed at BHS and that is pretty special for the kids that hung in there. As far as giving Shad the keys to the city, I don't buy it. He was at Smyrna like 15 yrs before he accomplished anything significant. Most coaches don't get that long to prove themselves. He had lots of great talent during that time period too and was in a lower division for awhile and away from Rankdog. I think had he won the gold by beating down a Rankin led Riverdale team, I could give him full respect he probably deserves. Plus, I don't like how he bailed on MTCS to chase the talent at BHS. You don't say that God led you one place ....only to bail on them in a yr because God led you again? I am happy for the competition in our district and it will be a humdinger of a year coming up. OKay, I am off my soapbox to say I hope you guys have a strong off-season and looking forward to the season starting back again. Go Oakland.
  13. I disagree with profanity in any form in front of players. I guess you haven't read my earlier posts on that matter. My son played for Marty Euverard and you can get your point across without using it. BTW, Marty scored gold. I am cracking up though at how you point out our coach's faults when YOUR coach is certainly NOT a paragon of virtue in any form or fashion. You don't want me to rehash all with LOD filling in what I may have forgotten.
  14. I am the first to admit that Oakland underachieved this year. There needs to be some self-examination in all areas to fix what went wrong. See, I am man enough to say it. I was disappointed to say the least in how this season went. Just saying that because that many kids show up for an informational meeting is no reason to make a thread on CoachT . It doesn't mean that all of them stay out. You BHS fans have a problem with too much swagger and no gold to warrant it. And way too sensitive to boot.
  15. Here we go again with you BHS posters. Quantity doth not equal QUALITY. Showing up at an informational meeting without having done a practice, a weightroom workout, giving up jobs or time with girlfriends or vacations, do multiple fundraisers, etc......does not a player make.
  16. They have given plenty of others a second chance in Rutherford County. I don't know why this should end this young man's career. I do not know this coach or the true details about this, but his sibling coaches at OHS and is a fine coach and person.
  17. Did anyone locally apply for this and what is the timeframe for hiring. Your team is getting farther behind with every day without a coach at the helm.
  18. LOD, you can operate the laptop on the lift and send the signals of the other team to wingman on the field. I will be in charge of team meals, motivational pre-game and half-time speeches ,and distracting the other team during time-out's. But in the salary negotiations we have to make sure we aren't running the wingt or changing the uniforms to stinkin red, LOD.
  19. Yes, Oakland freshman have a period of the day where they are in the weightroom. That is a key reason for our success....starting them early.
  20. Can you throw out some names? Word on the street is that Jerry Joslin was seen at LHS recently. Now those of you who have been around awhile know how much respect I have for Joslin. He would be an outstanding hire. He breeds discipline, teaches fundamentals and precise technique, and his players are physical to the core. Man, I might have to become a blue devil fan if this happens. I badly wanted him for the job at OHS when Ferg left.
  21. I think our work in the weightroom has fallen off at Oakland the last yr too. I am wondering if it is the kids lack of desire , the scheduling making it harder, changing folk in charge of the workouts, or what. I know Mac revamped the weightroom and spent several thousands on new equipment that first yr he came. I am just not sure what the deal is over there but I hope it gets fixed fast. As you RHS folk know, you can do big things with strength on the line, no matter the size of the player.
  22. Eddie, how many applications have been turned in?
  23. I am salivating at that thought, wingy! I resolved to keep it to three dogs per game this year instead of my usual 6.
  24. Pardon my ignorance but are you talking about a coach from Cumberland County Jets or Cumberland University? If from CU, does Crane have any high school head coaching experience? Is Dwayne Alexander still the coach at CU? How quickly will this be resolved. Lebanon is getting behind the longer it takes to hire.
  25. No, I had not heard that rumor as of yet. That surprises me as he did a heck of a job at Blackman with their Oline and alotof good talent still remains at BHS. I would hate to see him get out of coaching as I feel he still has some good years left in him. I don't think seegull was the best place for him. As I said before, too many backstabbers and control freaks there. Best of luck to him in whatever the future brings for him. I sure enjoyed watching him play in the good ole red, white, and blue at Oakland.
