  1. A coaches job is to place his or her team in the best possible position to win. This means properly preparing the team mentally, physically, and emotionally. If he or she has done this, and the team loses, it is simply what you said, someone has to lose. If he or she has not, the coach should be blamed. Very rarely, if ever, should a player be blamed for a loss. There are very rarely ever bad followers, but very often bad leaders. As far as the refs, I have seen games where the refs decided the outcome. HOWEVER, it is a fact of life, and sports, that refs are going to mess up so you have to have your team in position as a coach to overcome bad calls and still be able to succeed. When all else fails, remember it is a game and it is supposed to be about the kids. Not the moms and dads, not the coach that wants 25 wins a year to put on a resume (you know who you are), and it is not about gold and blue balls; It is about the kids. If you do not believe, ASK JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. If the Alabama Schools cannot do any better than that then the Tennessee Schools should stop supporting their tourneys and stay up here. I have seen allot of hard fought games up here but nothing like I am hearing about from Alabama teams. It is probably because they cannot compete on the court so they figure if they cannot win the game at least win the fight. GEEZ. Hope the girls fully recover and I will pray for them.
  3. You are really jealous of us aren't u??? LOL. I knew I would get a response from you. Have you got to see very much bball this year? Very little on my part. Take care and Happy New Year.
  4. It was a joke dude!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thought everyone would get it. And yes, we are weak compared to the great Jackson County. Take care and pull for all us fighting for Class A 2nd place in the state of Tennessee.
  5. Both Richland and Wayne County are ranked in Mississippi too. I hear that Jackson County is #1 in Kentucky, Florida and Tennessee.
  6. Did Lauderdale County get in any fights? 2 years ago one current player got into a fight during a game at the Ardmore Thanksgiving tourney and it ended up outside in the parking lot between several families. Hope your girls are OK. I heard 2 had gotten hurt over a 2 day period.
  7. For the first time in history, 2 Tennessee teams are ranked in the AP poll of another state. The Alabama AP poll has Wayne County ranked #1 in girl's high school basketball and Richland ranked #3. A team from Alabama, Cold Springs, is ranked ahead of Richland. This is most likely due to Cold Springs narrow (and controversial I might add) victory over Richland in the second round of the Christmas Tourney. Richland has invited Cold Springs to Lynnville for a rematch with Tennessee refs. Governor Siegleman is ordering an investigation. It appears that Wayne County and Richland's domination in the NW Alabama Christmas Tourney led to this development. During interviews with the coaches from Wayne County and Richland, both coaches were quoted as saying, "we just play the games as scheduled; we have nothing to do with the polls or who is ranked". I will post more as it becomes available.
  8. Congrats to the lady warriors. I only see good things ahead for this program if they play as a team and stick with their coach. And there is no QUIT in these lady warriors.
  9. It appears that Richland and Wayne County both went to the Lauderdale County (Alabama) Christmas Tourney and represented the state well. Congrats to both teams. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Richland suffered a close second round loss, only to rebound and win its' next 3 games for a 4 and 1 record in the tourney. Wayne County dominated everyone on its' way to the Tourney Title. Thank you ladies from both teams for representing the State of Tennessee well. Good luck the rest of the season and I hope everyone from both teams are well. I wish I could have been there to watch but I have too much LIFE happening right now to get away.
  10. Surprised to see that you did not predict Cornersville advancing past the regional tourney. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Even the Cornersville fans donot like you so go away. It very well may be Collinwood and Wayne County, but it is too early to tell. There are 6 or 7 teams from this region that are pretty equally matched. And do not count out THE MIGHTY RICHLAND RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And why do you think you know what is going on at Richland???? U R an idiot with a capital I!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  11. My daughter informed me that Wayne County is in the finals of the Lauderdale County (Alabama) Christmas Tourney in Rogersville. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Did 2 starters get hurt? Are they OK? I will pray for them!!!! To beat Lauderdale County, my old stomping ground, stop K. Young. She is a great player who can shoot from anywhere. If I could make some recommendations, do not let her shoot 3 pointers and make her work for every step she takes on the floor. Bird Dog her everywhere she goes. Sorry Kiara. I still love you and your family but I have to pull for my friends at Wayne County. Good luck to both teams.
  12. Sounds like some great games to watch were played in this tourney. There will be some great teams not make in to 'Boro out of this sub-section. With Richland, Forrest, Collinwood and Wayne County all in the mix. And DO NOT count out Summertown, Perry County, or Santa Fe. They have some good coaches and some good players. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. I have stated that Ms. Andrews would be Ms. Basketball Class A. However, if Jackson County keeps dominating like they are, Leonard will probably take the award. That is if the voters will vote for a Sophomore. Who else in the state is looking like a contender for the award?? Also, I did not expect the early losses by Collinwood. A dominate player on a #1 team would have to be given more consideration than a dominate player on a team with several losses I would believe. Can someone advise when the voting for these awards end??? Is it just regular season or does state count? Good luck to all and Merry Christmas!
  14. DO WHAT? I guess your vocab. is above my pay grade and IQ. Good luck and god bless you Mr. Senator.
  15. Thanks Doctor Phil. I needed that. So you are a coach? I hear the girl's badmitten team has an opening if you are interested.
  16. I compare your team to an allstar team and you talk bad about me for it? So sad.
  17. OK /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  18. Thank you for letting me know who I have pulled for and who I have not. I was confused but you have helped me out of my confusion. Just wonder if that TEAM concept will stick? Hope so.
  19. Is Matt Miller coaching the girls?????
  20. Thanks Kim. I will message you. Take care.
  21. Hey Kim, were you at the Richland game the other day? Some of the fans told me (i was not there) that Forrest showed a major lack of sportsmanship during the game with shoving players after plays, elbows thrown with the intent to injure, and some other stuff. Like I said, I was not there and I value your opinion. Anyone else who was there please comment too. Thanks. Good luck to your rockets. Hope we do not see you again til 'Boro. That would mean we both won our region. Meeting at Substate just is not the same. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> If I remember correctly, you started off slow last year too and came on strong at the end.
  22. Wise Words from a Wise Man!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> This man knows bball. I heard the TSSAA is thinking about letting every other region get together an All-Star team to represent each region at state this year. They believe that this is the only way to play with the all-star team of Jackson County. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  23. Richland has plenty to watch down here you funny man. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> JC should be a tough team to beat. 2 finals appearance in the last 2 years. But let's not forget, the year before last they were by far the best Class A team in the state. Then they let Forrest slip up on them and got badly outcoached in that finals game. What they did last year with that young team was amazing and fun fun fun to watch. The same team that got beat up badly by Moore County during the preseason just kept playing hard and playing together and took care of business while the rest of the state was talking bout CR and RBS. That was fun to see. I wish they would have kept that team together without the new recruits. It would have been nice to see how that team could have developed and won a title or two. With the outside help, I cannot pull for them anymore. Although kids changing schools and teams is going to happen, it kinda cheapens things a little. Good luck to CR and JC. They should have some great battles. And no one should take the double digit loss by CR as the way it will be next time. They will be heard from again. PS> Watch out for Collinwood. Is Andrews can get healthy and stay healthy, they will be tough tough tough. And she will be CLASS A MISS BASKETBALL.
  24. One more good recruiting class and they will be moving up to College Ball. Heard they were going after a couple of shelbyville players next????
  25. That is great to hear about Rachel. T. Tech is a good place to go. I was really impressed while visiting there during team camps. She will do well and is a fine young lady. No telling how good she can be with some good coaching at T. Tech.
