It is a sad state of affairs! I don't condone bullying in any form. But I also don't condone suing the school board for something they have absolutely nothing to do with. Looks like the taxpayers of sumner county will be paying "daddy's meal ticket" to the tune of $300,000 from what the Tennessean said. You want to sue the parents of the kids who were responsible for bullying, I get that. You want to go after the coach if she didn't handle things properly, I get that. But suing the school board takes money from thousands of other kids in the school system... I just can't get on board with that and I dont know how you could sleep at night. Ohhhh thats right, because money fixes everything including bullying.

What's the word on the Wilson Central opening? Anyone heard anything?

There is a TSSAA mandatory 2 week dead period the last week of June and the first week of July. This would be a great time to schedule any vacations as it falls those two weeks every year. Basketball coaches/teams are only allowed 15 days to practice and compete during the offeseason. (those 15 days generally fall between June 1-21) So you can schedule vacations on spring break, fall break or anytime between June 21 and whenever school starts back. If I am the coach and I only have 3 weeks to work with my team from the time my season is over in February until practice starts in November. and you schedule your vacation during that time, I'd be upset too! Just saying...

DougS that was a great dunk and also the worst call of the tournament! (and that's saying a lot) He grazed his shoulder. The call changed the game too because Arlington's coach got a T when he argued against the terrible call. Brutal officiating at the state tournament. No flow to the games. I wish the TSSAA was more concerned about grading quality officiating (accuracy of the calls), instead of quality officiating mechanics.

I saw Arlington play Wilson Central (also in the state tourney) at a Christmas tournament this year. Arlington beat them by 20 and it wasn't that close. They also beat a really good White Station team to get here. They have a stud guard name CJ Anderson that is the real deal. As usual, I look for the two Memphis teams to dominate the AAA bracket and one of them will be taking the gold ball back to the West. McEwen I don't think Siegel's pressure defense compares to the level of competition Arlington likely sees night in and night out in Memphis. AAA hoops is just on another level down there.

Juliet over Franklin Rossview over John Overton Ridgeway over Bolton Houston over Dyer County I watched Mt. Juliet vs Rossview last night and it did not disappoint. A great game between 2 really good teams, with Mt Juliet icing the game at the free throw line. I have seen Franklin and Overton play this year and I dont think either of them will beat either of the two teams I watched last night.

Well, the first round went about like I thought it would. Can Hendersonville or Beech pull off the upset in the semi's? I would be surprised if either did. I would like to see Mt Juliet vs Rossview in the finals. Two big, physical teams locking horns! Should be a great week of hoops on the boys and girls side!

With district tournaments wrapping up tonight, who do you like in the region? So far these are the matchups: #4 Lebanon @ #1 Rossview #3 West Creek @ Mt. Juliet/Beech Loser #4 Clarksville @ Mt. Juliet Beech Winner #3 Hendersonville @ #2 Kenwood I am sure Mt Juliet and Rossview are looking to avoid each other until the final but Beech is no slouch. They could pull the upset tonight. I think whoever wins tonight in 9AAA walks to the region finals, as Kenwood, Clarksville and Hendersonville (minus their pg) just dont seem to be on the same level. I think Rossview will likely beat Lebanon at home, making a very interesting semifinal matchup vs Mt Juliet or Beech. I dont think West Creek beats either of these teams on the road. Beech handled them easily back in early January. Should be fun! I love tournament time!

Tournament starts tonight! Who ya got? I think top seeds will roll tonight. Anyone heard why the Hayes girl from Hendersonville didnt play against Beech last week? My friend said she wasn't on the bench or anything. Was she sick? Injured? Discipline? Dismissal? Without her they are a much different team! Did she play vs Gallatin?

Yes, the girls games are at 6:30 and 8...Boys games start at 4. Semi's on Saturday will start at 4 also.

Hendersonville got the win over Beech last night to lock up the 2 seed. Big win in order to avoid MJ until the final.

Big game! I may have to attend that one. I could be wrong but I just don't see the 4 seed from our side beating Rossview at home. I just looked at their schedule and they seem to be playing well. They are 19-2! 10-AAA isn't very strong but Rossview has been blowing everyone out by 20 and 30. They beat Hendersonville in ot, and handled Gallatin and Station Camp easily earlier in the season. I think the rest of 10-AAA is weak sauce. I know Beech beat West Creek by 20 or so a few weeks ago and WC is in 2nd place over there. Mt Juliet vs Rossview in the Region final is my pick. Soooo ready for tournament time!
