  1. The old cliche' is that "to be the best you have to beat the best" but for those Cheatham County fans that have been along for the ride, the harsh reality is, if Darden wouldn't have sat for 12 minutes against East before finding his way back onto the court, they wouldn't have played CPA until they reached Murfreesboro. Back in the good ol' days, a senior with so much on the line would've put a patch over his eye or played with one eye shut in order to avoid a game like that. His defensive presence and rebounding alone could've changed the outcome in the East came, especially after Douglas fouled out.
  2. I know that award winners will be announced at the state tournament, but when will finalists be recognized?
  3. I think it would be interesting to see who Middleton would vote for... I have and idea.
  4. Coach Foster got an absolute steal in Keiana Gilbert. Keina is an outstanding young lady who is extremely close to her family. She chose UTC to play with her sister, but to also make it easy on her mother and brother, who are great supporters, in their travels. Now her family can see both of them play and not have to deal with the stresses of traveling all over the country and picking one sister over the other to go watch on any given night. Keiana is undoubtedly a high level SEC type talent but will help her sister, Ariana, make UTC one of the best mid-major programs in the country. Coach Foster will have an elite program there that no one will want to play come tournament time.
  5. Glad to hear that... It should definitely be the best three players in the state regardless of where they are from. If all three are in the west, so be it, but voting and nominating should not consider location.
  6. Do the nominees have to be from different areas of the state?
  7. Makayla Timmons is too far down the list... She is one of the top all-around guards in the state. She is a scorer, facilitator, and defender.
  8. Keiana Gilbert from Columbia Central has to be considered for this honor. She leads the Lady Lions in scoring and rebounding, averaging a double-double. She is scoring better than 24 a game and snagging just under 12 boards per game. Columbia is 19-3 on the season having played very good competition outside of their district schedule with wins over Knoxville Webb and Riverdale and a last second loss to the #1 team in the country, Blackman. She exemplifies the "team player" and leads by example. She is asked to defend the opposing teams' best player at any position night in and night out, and has proven to be a player that will do the dirty work as well as scoring the basketball. She broke the Columbia Central single-game scoring record twice this year by scoring 42 against White County and then 43 just weeks later. She is nearing the 2,000 point mark for her career having scored 1,746 with 526 of those points being scored thus far this year. Had a great match-up with McDonald's All-American, Riverdale senior Alexa Middleton just after Christmas, I'll let you guys check the stats on that one... Good luck to all considerations on this prestigious award, but more importantly to your teams as the season's end draws near!
  9. AGREED! There are at least 4, if not 5, of the top 8 teams in the state all in the same region.
  10. I'll just go on and continue my rant on how deserving Keiana Gilbert is of such accolades. She is one of the leading scorers in the state, averages double figures in rebounds, and plays an extremely tough schedule... For her not to be mentioned in the nomination process tarnishes the McDonald's All-American award in my opinion.
  11. If this is the case, then there are some very deserving young ladies that are being overlooked. Keiana Gilbert should be at the top of every list right now. She's averaging a double-double with 27 ppg and 11 rpg and has played the toughest competition the state has to offer with the likes of Riverdale, Blackman, Mt Juliet, and Knoxville Webb on the schedule.
  12. I can't disagree with this statement, but unfortunately professional obligations often interfere for me and I would never be able to attend a game like this on a Tuesday or Friday night.
