I would say this is the last time these teams will be in this district together. As many before have mentioned feel it is Cheatham's district until someone knocks them off ..... They did lose two very good players in Douglas and Goode. Congratulations to them on playing at the next Level. Both White House Teams should be at the top or near it. Heritage will definitely still be playing football longer then white House. Also, i have heard that White House will be hosting the district and region this year in their newly renovated gym. Heritage: Demarais is playing football this year. Might result in a slower start before Christmas. They lost their big man from last year that was playing much better at end of year then the beginning. Will be the senior year of those 8th graders that won maybe the first county championship i am not sure. Might have a couple new faces, didn't get to see them this summer. Westmoreland: Lost I believe 5/6 seniors. I forget his name , but will be that taller skinny 3/4 man's team this year. Also new coach in almost over 20 years. Cheatham: Lost their core. Winning is a tradition for them though, so i am sure they will be near the top. Saunders can really shoot.. Sycamore: Where is their scoring going to come from this year. Brown had to average nearly half of their scoring last year. Greenbrier: My sleeper or biggest mover from last year pick. They lost a couple shooters, but seemed to have some good size and some younger athleticism when I saw them this summer. Harpeth: Always said to be the "best coached" team. They now have a new coach from great historied school. They lost a post player. Can Copeland carry the team or what the new "system" going to be leaves them as a wild card. White House: Lost their post player , their 2 year starting point guard, and their best Junior from last year Malik Morgan (who transferred to Hargraves Military Academy). They are returning some sophomores who got quality minutes as freshmen, along with a couple other juniors this year played for them this summer. I did see one freshmen a big man play varsity for them this summer to answer the freshmen/transfer question. Good call (hope you sense my sarcasm) looks like those White House boys were getting ready for the tournament as they now seem to be playing their best ball and seemed very "inspired " in the tournament advancing to the championship Tuesday night playing 3 freshman in their rotation What's everyone's predictions of the consolation and championship game ??

I believe will be before it is all said and done. The teams have only played 7 times, but was a good crowd last night, and a great game. Credit to both teams playing hard and clean. Much respect on both sides!! Should be good for a long time. Portland moving up to 9-AAA kind of took away the rivalries luster... But being in same district in football should bring it back at least for the football end of the rivalry..

Believe he worded it as a significant transfer ... Idk about BIGTIME player , but a player who had some untapped potential ... He transferred from White House to White House -Heritage is why it was significant .... Will admit he did put on a clinic when heritage came and played at White House the next year .. And I believe it was their last year in single A when that happened about substate

Wonder if the game will be canceled or not. The schools are only 3-5 miles apart I would say. I agree about the rivalry and throwing records out. Heritage should come and play inspired basketball tonight. The devils looking to improve their home record this year to 7-2 with a win. The two losses being to springfield and cheatham county. Just a little history of this "rivalry". The two teams were kind of kept away from each other while heritage was still in single A. Until the 2013-2014 season when they were put into the same district. A lot of people will forget or not remember , but the two teams played back in heritage's early years with Slagle, hill, jarrell, miller some of those players who kind of started it all for heritage. They met in a christmas tournament at Overton Highschool in 2004-2005 season where White House won the game. So here is the history between the two.... wins and losses and years 2004-2005 WH 1-0 Heritage 0-1 2013-2014 WH 0-2 Heritage 2-0 2014-2015 WH 1-1 Heritage 1-1 2015-2016 WH 1-0 Heritage 0-1 Total Records thus far in this Cross Town Rivalry WH 3-3 Heritage 3-3 As far as the game tonight, I hope it is a competitive fun game for both the players and the crowd. Just don't see how White House could lose tonight at home playing to be the #2 seed, and just how they have played at home this year. If a team was going to come in to the Devils' house and beat them this would be the team to do it though. I believe this game is all about the tempo of the game. If the devils get out and make heritage run with them, the patriots are in for a long night. I got the devils 72-62 to continue their post christmas success giving them their 6th win in the last 8 games. Good luck to both teams tonight

Cleggy, good to see you!! The fights were amongst fans not players. At harpeth it was a jv game getting out of control, because of refereeing and no punches were thrown but a harpeth coach broke it up by grabbing a white house player, whose parent was there that started the altercation of the night ........ Then if you ever been to harpeth fans of opposing teams have to sit on same side, and was a scuffle after varsity game in bleachers. The other night against sycamore it was a free throw, and one of white house's players was guarding brown on the court over by their coach. Obviously also you know being in their live game "huddle" which is legal, Sycamore coach then used his arm and body to body the white house player out of the "huddle" which got a parent hot which then started the verbal altercation between parent and sycamore coach. So no WH players in any trouble or even any white house players even receiving a techinical in either situation.

I saw that White House played and beat sycamore last night another over 80 points for the blue devils 2 out of there last 3 games. Everyone else I am guessing is making up games. Anybody know any make up dates for this district from last friday and last night???

Hello all!! it is that time again !!! Should be an exciting season in 9aa. My predictions: I usually like to wait until some HOC games have been played. 1)Cheatham/White house 3)Heritage 4)Sycamore 5)Harpeth 6)Westmoreland 7) Greenbrier Have been hearing rumors as well about all these various teams losing players, we shall see once the actual boxscores come out on who has lost who. I agree with everyone if you are defending champs, then someone has to come take it from you before you are not the favorite. Based off some things I have heard and saw this summer I think White House might just be poised to do so. NewBlue - I was told the score in the hendersonville scrimmage was 59-54 hendersonville. I also heard that White House played Hillwood tough and Beech kinda put it on them in a three team scrimmage where halves were played, with teams rotating.

All District 9aa tournament games are at vol state community college. Heritage vs. Sycamore 8:00 pm Thursday the 12th.

It's district tournament time !! Is it going to be a rematch in the finals of cheatham vs. harpeth or is another team or teams going to make it to the finals??? Will there be an upset or two, and when you think they going to happen? Matchups this week Tuesday- Harpeth vs. Greenbrier- I got harpeth Thursday- White House Heritage vs Sycamore- Heritage seems to be a team that just plays everyone the same, but I think they will defeat sycamore in the first round Friday- White House vs. Westmoreland- Will be the second friday in a row these two teams have played. Okay so we are coming down to the last third of district play the standings are as follows. 1. Harpeth 7-1 2. Cheatham County 6-1 3. White House 5-3 4. White House-Heritage 4-4 5. Westmoreland 3-5 6. Greenbrier 1-6 7. Sycamore 1-7 Who is going to win the regular season championship as it gives you an automatic bid to the region coming from a 7 team district. Games this Friday who do you got? Cheatham @ Harpeth Should be a great game. I think harpeth will be looking to avenge their loss earlier in the year at cheatham. So I am taking the home team in harpeth by 5. Westmoreland @ Sycamore Was a two point game earlier in the year. I got westmoreland after coming off their big road win against Heritage. Greenbrier @ White House The devils haven't been very good at home this year winning 4 of their 5 district wins on the road. They have been playing better as of late and I have them winning their 4th district game in a row. White House Heritage@ Hume Fog tonight and @ East Robertson Friday Looking to bounce back after two tough district home losses . I believe heritage will win both of these basketball games.

Who ya got tonight? sycamore @ westmoreland I haven't seen westmoreland play yet this year but based off of their dominating performance of heritage I would say they should win this game at home. Harpeth @ cheatham SHould be a great game between two of the better teams in the district White House @ greenbrier With greenbrier being at home I think this game is going to be a close game and come down to the end to determine the winner Heritage @ merrol hyde (should be another easy victory for the patriots).

So District play is now under way. After looking at the scores looks like Harpeth and Cheatham took care of business easily. Was surprised by the Heritage-White House Game after reading how "great" Heritage is supposed to be to only beat the devils by ten with the devils just getting their football players back last week, in a game that was actually closer than the 10 point final spread. All valid statements .... What would be a special or great accomplishment ? ? Like a precedent ..? ... Just wondering what that means to you .... I agree highschool basketball should not be dependent on who got who from where , instead heard of their developing freshman or younger from his "area" so to speak ..... There are also many , many coaches who have lost many games with superior talent (relative term) as in this example of CPA , who has done a lot of winning ...just to keep it on topic of thread lol 😬

I agree to an extent about about them not being seperate , but let's remember this is highschool basketball , not adults we are talking about .... And I am going to just answer the rest paraphrasing one of the greatest coaches ever Bob Night ..... In our simplicity there is complexity , the way those players rotate , know roles, communicate that is all habits and good coaching .... Anther paraphrase simple and execution over time always beats complexity and surprise .... But we can agree to disagree on what is coaching and what is talent ... I knew a shot would be taken at white house and obviously am/was willing to accept that, I am not talking about white house beating the cpa powerhouse, just referencing that i have seen them play many times !! Lets be honest white house hasn't been a competitive team for a while now But I watch and know a lot about basketball, and cpa runs some wonderful things regardless of what their talent level was or is , which was my point i thought i made. CPA middle school team is also a very solid team, with some very talented players as well.. But that would be a good game honestly between white house middle school and cpa middle school not counting CPA's new edition of course haha And btw i said mediocre at best I believe White House was ranked 101 out of 113 in AA last year so I wouldn't call that mediocre .. And they put white house out of the region every year before the new arrangement so i have seen the dominance of the new squads, but that doesn't stop what I believe about basketball that 5 people play at a time, and foolish to just make excuse after excuse, and whining after whining instead of doing something about it personally as a player or as a program, not saying White House can, but teams in general as I said in my post

I know its football season, but never to early to start talking some hoops. With cheatham's special team and dominance last year, is it their year again or are there going to be a couple surprise teams this year?? Who is returning the most players who had real minutes? Who is going to be the best players in the district this year? I personally feel there is going to be a lot of parody and the district title up for grabs this year. Would have to say after summer and performances at the end of the year last year my pick to win the district is Harpeth, I feel the rest is completely a toss up

I always love reading this thread for entertainment purposes. I feel i can give a good outside non personal perspective to it all. 1st off I understand the school is a religious christian school, but lets get real this is a highschool sports thread and we are talking about basketball not final judgments of any "human" so to speak nor scriptures and blah blah blah... Maddux is a good coach, just look at the things they run and how his players are intelligent of the game , and are clearly taught the correct way to play. They are not just out there being sooo much better athletes playing pick up ball and winning. come on now.. He obviously recruits in some way whether legal or not, for example his little camps he runs for all the young players around the nashville area up to the 7th grade. Easily a form of recruiting since highschools cant even let their own middle schools into games for free because that is "recruiting" So it is apparent he recruits in some way, but the fact of the matter is he hasn't been "caught" or found of doing any wrong "recruiting", so maybe others should just develop better, game plan better, and spend all the energy in those things instead of using it to complain, whine , and trying to catch CPA cheating to have an excuse or to justify your team losing to them is highly annoying and foolish. About the parents whose kids could be playing, smh, get over it basketball is a privileged sport, only 5 players can play at a time. This is not junior pro where you pay to play so everyone gets to play. And i find it embarrassing, if you don't like it then take your kid to another school yourself, because then you would be complaining about not winning, or kid not getting to play enough instead of not at all, but i would almost put money that those kids being spoke about couldn't even play at many schools around that area regardless. Because truth be told as Maddux goes down that bench the players level is mediocre at best in AA basketball..

Not much to say so far this year except a little surprised by westmoreland success, and sycanore's poor play ..... The rest pretty much true to form Cheatham county class of their own , fundamental harpertj and greenbrier , then the other teams ..... White House has played good at times but just ultimately not winning any games ...... Heritage all I can say is you lost to Meryol Hyde so I would call you a cake walk to Cheatham ......but you never know usually a few surprises at the end of the year in this district hoping it's my devils but if the patriots could right the ship that would be nice too ..... And sycamore made late run in tourney last year but new coach so we will see

Have to agree here. I will not make anymore predictions until I have seen them play or through the grape vine, but I may put a synopsis as you did for both White House teams , as I have seen them both play , and their players play on multiple occasions. But as for that schedule that is quite embarrassing since I had read other patriot posters elsewhere claim that Petrone had always scheduled the hardest games, are you telling me you couldn't find a region opponent over merroll Hyde magnet school? In my opinion not helping the patriots squad get ready for the step up to AA especially for district, and region play ..... Tournament time.....on another note Springfield got a new real deal coach, and i am looking for them to be much more consistent and all around surprise really good year, but could be wrong, but very excited for basketball season! .....Which will be sooner than others after the first week of the playoffs.....

Surely no one truly though Westmoreland would have won this game , if they would have definitely would have been huge upset but those were all today lol! ........My blue devils must get closer to the recievers though if they wanna make any noise in playoffs !

Outside of Christmas tournaments idk if I would consider 4 games last year against 2 of the worst teams besides WH in a weak district as scheduling up, but heritage does have some athletes and good basketball players, I just will have to see it to believe it that they would move up and be competing for regular season district championship, as I have said before they are a dangerous tournament team with their very good post player , and 3 year starting point guard, and man to man D. And hopefully their transfer from WH plays more on the court than on the football field. And I will be first to congratulate, eat my words, and be on the heritage bandwagon if they in fact are competing for district championship because it has seemed like forever since a White House Blue Devil team was doing so, and I truly hope in long run the heritage WH games will always be for the district championship in all sports now that would be awesome !!
