  1. Do I detect a little sarcasm? Conspirator,,,, sends.... Whatever the heck that means
  2. Wwhy are you concerned with the McCallie tournament? Your guys dont wrestle in it do they?
  3. What has happened with Ooltewah? A few years back they were making noise as one of the up and coming programs
  4. Probably after the seeding meeting and the weigh ins
  5. After watching it time and time again I would not have called it but this is with the ability to use replay which a ref does nt have. The open hand and feet slap the mat and that is what the sound is. The lifting wrestler comes to the side and lifts and is still at the side when his opponent is returned. If he brings his weight down on him that would give me a different opionion. As far as safely returning the wrestler and using the " lets see if hes hurt" first before i make a call approach" , thats not feasible as the ref must make a call right then. A lot of times (im not saying its the case here) the wrestler being slammed suddenly becomes a lot more injured when he realizes it was called an illegal move. Now there is verbage in the rule book about the trapped arm and Im not sure exactly what it says but I do think we are sissyfying wrestling just like every thing else in society. i would not have called this a slam unless the rule book states it must be called that way due to the trapped arm and if it does then that needs to be addressed all across the state with all wrestlers because you will see 20 slams this hard or harder not called at every tournament across the state.
  6. Yes and while it may not be a rule as far as the lifting wrestler touching first it does come into play I think. The lifting wrestler is much more likely to return the opponent much harder and have a potential pile driver type situation where all his weight comes down on top of him if he doesnt touch first. Its hard to really get your weight and force on top of somebody if you touch first. what do the rules state about the trapped arm? Does it have to be a reinforced arm bar to be deemed potentially dangerous or does the rule simply state a trapped arm like in this case. I think its much safer to have the arm trapped than to post your arm out and risk breaking it, breaking a collar bone , dislocating an elbow or injuring the shoulder but thats just my opinion.
  7. This is a great discussion. I wouldnt say its illegal all day everyday because it appears to be split right down the middle on who thinks it was legal and who doesnt. I would say most ex wrestlers would say it was legal and most parents who have never wrestled would say illegal but thats just my guess.
  8. It was borderline and have seen many worse slams called and some not this bad called. I think the sound of his feet hitting the mat and the "oh's" from the crowd probably influenced the call. It was a high amplitude lift but he didnt pile drive him as it first appeared like he was going to. Unfortunately referee's have to make a call right at that moment and dont have time to watch replays. If you are going to lift a guy you better make sure you bring him down safely. Especially with the emphasis on refs watching for the trapped arm now. I did think it odd that his knee was hurt though but you never know I guess.
  9. Yeah and they said it about Pee Wee Herman also and guess what? He is weird. lol
  10. Right on the school own website it states Maryville Tn. Too funny
  11. Of course they suck weight to get to 106. Thats because thats the easiest road for them to win thus solidifying my opionion. Nobdoy said the kids dont work hard. We just said its the easiest weight class, if you dont believe that then I dont know what else to tell you.
  12. I vote soms as the official village idiot. While scottmike is also an idiot his is obviously intentional and I hate to admitt it the guy is pretty funny. Soms on the other hand gives me a migraine.
  13. So Cleveland had three big guns missing and Soddy had at least one. Did Jonah Smith or Blake Henry wrestle? they had been out as well I think. Did someone say Deckelman was going 132? Some Soddy parents told me he couldnt even make 138? Must have been some Soddy strategy.
  14. did Hamilton , Oliver and the new kid from Georgia wrestle for Cleveland? Did Soddy have everybody? If so this was a shocker
  15. Haden Hamilton didnt wrestle for Cleveland? Who wrestled here?
  16. Wow. Suprises me. Although he is the master of keeping it close without actually shooting. Not knocking him, he is very good at looking busy with level changes and hand movement and tough to score on. I watched the Marchetti match and i didnt see one attempted move other than a stand up in regulation or any of the overtimes. What was the score on this one? I bet 3-2
  17. Excellent post coach Bray. I think your rankings are pretty spot on usually
  18. yeah, they dont even llok close to the same weight. Is Lopez even cutting any weight at all? he looks small at 160 and Matlock looked huge at Cleveland
  19. It will be just as interesting to see who wrestles. Ive heard some disgruntled parents in the stands. Kids not even close to making weight, kids sitting out to avoid some studs, kids really hurt, some sick, ecttt.. If everyone is in the lineup for these two teams it should be the best match in Tn
  20. nwcaonline is the best source for scores. Almost all schools are listed, you can click on the date of the dual match and see the results weight by weight. you can click on a wrestlers name and see his seasons matches. There are no articles or anything but you can see the results. There is nothing else even close to this in accuracy or content
  21. i agree completley. I would have Lopez ranked higher as well. I would think Matlock would stay at 170 as well where the road will be much easier
  22. ahh.. so the wrestler of the week is for dI? It just said wrestler of the week and I didnt see one for dII so I assumed he was wrestler of the week for both. Still who cares about divisions, when you step on the mat its a wrestling match. I would think you would take that into consideration.
