  1. I like "Team Select" that practices at CPA and is coached by Michael Couey.....Coach Maddux's assistant coach. This allows Coach Couey extra income by coaching players during the summer and identifying 6th grade talent. Hopefully they expand their program down to Kindergarten and I'll let my son try out. He is a baller right now at age 4.
  2. Wouldn't count out Stewarts Creek on pulling a couple of upsets. Good group of sophomores.
  3. Raiderdad, Think your predictions are spot on. in A - I think Richland or Gordonsville are the teams to beat. Both have the pitching, despite the losses, someone will step up. Goodpasture doesn't have the pitching this season, and I think CA will make some noise. AA - I'd say Gibbs has to be the favorite here. West Tennessee is always tough. Greenbrier might make a run. AAA - Like your picks, but don't count out Dickson County here. They have almost everyone back and a beast of a freshmen class.
  4. Yes, but none that urinated on the football field after a loss.........LOL.
  5. South Nashville one win away from Williamsport........should be interesting!
  6. Mercado did what he set out to do. Beat Goodlettsville at their own game. And beat them twice in one night. Good luck to the South Nashville team, and I for one hope they can get to Williamsport.
  7. Doyle, I think you need to start one of them "murphy fair books" for basketball. Doyle Hargraves magazine? What do you think?
  8. . And apparently JohnJSmith's son not getting to play and "verbally abused".......
  9. Refresh my memory......how many seniors on that team are going to play college baseball? Looks like Carter did the best with what he had.
  10. Settle down Drew. I've seen CPA play multiple times. There are a lot better point guards in Nashville and Memphis than Mr. Bonds. When you are playing with 2 top 30 players for their class and a great shooter in Allsmiller the last 2 seasons, you are going to look the part. Corn Elder or Braxton Bonds?
  11. If you really believe this, then it really discredits your opinion. Bonds can't make an open jump shot..........and any decent high school PG would be a good player playing with Blackwell, Lindsey (the last 3 years), and Allsmiller who can shoot lights out.
  12. 1.) I'm sure if the Spanns have enough money he can come right back in..........I mean bringing a gun to a school campus isn't a big deal. 2.) Braxton Bonds "leaving"........He isn't that good to begin with, and has been the biggest benefactor of the Maddux hype machine.
  13. That's true. Most people in Mt. Juliet use the term "overrated" for any team associated with Williamson County baseball.
  14. I guess 8 straight trips to the AAA sectionals, state tournament 5 of the last 6 seasons, state runner up and final four appearances don't qualify as a "juggernaut" program to someone in Williamson County.
  15. I can not confirm or deny that there is a Kentucky coach in the mix.......Whoever gets the LHS position, should get at least 3-4 years to build something with the new facilities that they have. Hiring and firing a coach 2 years later (something LHS has done for a long time) doesn't make much sense for anyone.
  16. With all respect to QuickStrike's posts, I don't think you read his follow ups. As an outsider to the MJ situation, it is always going to be a circus because of the monster that has been created. While I did just post that MJ hasn't won the hardware, to say they are not a juggernaut program over the past 5 years is a uneducated statement. They have made the state tournament 5 years in a row until this season, and the AAA sectionals every season since 2006. Their sectional round is whole lot tougher to get out of than the East or West teams have to play IMO. Since Mel Brown has been at the school, I don't think anyone can argue that the athletic program has taken a step up in the right direction with heavy emphasis on football and baseball. Mel has always been a baseball guy since his days at McGavock........football just needed the right direction (hence they hired Perry), and they compete in arguably the state's toughest district in football and baseball (along with the Murfreesboro district)........ The circus was created by the winning and the passion for MJ baseball by parents, the administrators, and those involved with building the program. And in 5 years, there are several people in that "MJ Crew" that will be able to name every player from the starting lineup in the past 5 years, along with their record, etc. The circus has continued with Purvis resigning, and with all the good that Mel Brown has done in building the program, he did contribute to the circus by hiring Jim Carter to coach the team over several well qualified assistants/other coaches who would have given a lot for the opportunity to coach the program. While Carter IMO did a great job this season given the losses from the previous senior class........let's face it. He is an outsider, and will always be labeled "Ronnie's son". Even if the guy wins, the MJ parents will not be happy with him. Most MJ parents were Pro Purvis, and despite his transgressions were willing to look past them as long as they were winning. So while in theory, you are right about "what lives you touched".........in real life (which is where we live) unfortunately, it's about the rings and winning. And there is one thing that can shut down the circus.....and that's winning.
  17. The common denominator is that Farragut, Collierville, and Houston have all won state titles in the last decade. While MJ has been close, they haven't made it to the top of the mountain.
  18. Just an update, Atwood has withdrawn his name from consideration from the LHS position, according to sources. Rob Brown is staying put at MJ and going to wait out the Carter saga, and happy watching his sons play. Caven still in play with special education opening. He was seen on campus with Brown in the last 24 hours. LHS is trying to work out teaching position for Purvis if possible...........but as of now, I'd say Caven and Purvis are the leaders in the clubhouse.
  19. Then that coach should spend less time worrying about CoachT, and more time coaching his team up.
  20. LHS updated their teaching openings and another assistant football position on TSSAA.org this morning. Special Education is available as well.
  21. According to Maurice Patton this morning, Coach Perry will be "director of football operations", and Trey has been named HC. I would assume Roger will be heavily involved on Gamedays....just not so much during day in and day out practice.
  22. I heard Doyle has a short list of asst coaches lined up from the Cosby area that can teach these boys some ball......a pitching coach known as Captain Marlin, a base coach known as Stick who is up and comer, and a real estate mogul named Jorge. Doyle can you confirm?
  23. On Purvis.......sources indicate that he has put in for the position and will be in the mix. I don't think Shelton will be a viable candidate from what I've gathered. He lives in Kentucky, and don't think he will want to move or commute to Lebanon.
  24. My understanding is that both are on the list to contact. I can not confirm nor deny that either have put in for the job. This is from the administration at LHS. From what I understand, it might be after the weekend before anyone is officially contacted, but for sure they are on the list.
  25. Doyle........I don't know anyone from Cosby, nor yourself........but if this Steakhouse deal works out, then stop by anytime.
