As a former Coach in the Clarksville area, who coached against Coach Badon at Dickson and at CHS, I can tell you he is not the problem. I heard they were decimated by injuries this year to their upper classmen. Dave Isbell does a great job with their youth program as well. Even though we were rivals and always beat us handedly, he continuously offered my program advice and put me in contact with some of his folks to establish a feeder program for our school. He is a phenomenal coach and an even better person. He'll get them back on the right track.

Couldn't agree more. The 4-5 hour breaks drag the event on longer than needed. I also like idea #4. When I wrestled in the WI state tournament years ago, the lights were dimmed other than the ones over the mats. It was a phenomenal experience that the wrestlers enjoyed and they looked forward to "wrestling under the lights" at state.

Any updates on how Region 7 is doing? I've seen the results from Slamfest, that's about it though.

Any word on the other Clarksville area teams? Heard West Creek is doing really well and Northeast has lost some depth this year.

Chummel, I think TN wrestling has come a long ways and there are a lot of dedicated individuals here that put in countless hours to promote and improve TN wrestling. I'm originally from the midwest as well, where wrestling is huge, and TN has definitely developed a wrestling atmosphere. We have phenomenal coaches and wrestlers and some great youth programs. As far as coaching, I can't speak for everyone, I think it depends on the high school's coaching criteria, but there are many schools in the state that hire or currently employee non faculty head wrestling coaches. I know many great coaches that are head coaches at the high school level yet work in other jobs. Hope this helps.

Are District Duals all the teams or just the top 4?

Cavanaugh from NE wrestles 152, the older Bowen brother wrestles 160. Also, Mimms (NE) who probably would have placed top 4 at 170 is done with a broken collarbone.
