  1. I can agree with all the above comments on all of those players. I am not saying that the likes of Jameson, Knight, Hammaker, etc are not good or degrading them at all but you look at a team like Bearden with all of the injuries and a girl quitting and she has taken the team on her back and as she goes they go. All of those other girls mentioned have at least one or two other college prospects around them except for maybe Johnson (Fulton). Walsh is all Bearden really has at this point in the season yet she continues to score 20+ night in and night out and they win basketball games. She may not get the biggest college offers or anything like that but there is a difference between a good high school basketball player and a player that has more upside and potential and is more fit for a college team. You look at plenty of boys players over the last 5 years or so who were great high school players but did not get looks. Maybe I should have just said "ONE of the best in the area"... All that being said, who do you all like tonight in the region championship
  2. Thank you funsize22, well said! I find it very hard to believe that this could be a Farragut parent or anyone affiliated with FHS. I've been reading ladadad's posts all season but couldnt come up with a nice way to say anything like you just did. Nevertheless, us basketball fans get the priveledge to watch ROUND 4 between Farragut and Bearden for the opportunity to win a region championship and host the sub-state game on Saturday night. Underwood has done an unbelievable job with his group of young, talented girls (and the best player in the area in Walsh), while Mayfield at Farragut has also done a great job with his experienced group of girls. I believe this will be your typical FHS/BHS basketball game that will come down to the 4th qtr and who makes the big plays down the stretch. Can't wait to see this game and how it unfolds. Good luck to both teams tomorrow night and on Saturday as well.
  3. Not sure about the times but for sure you have Farragut hosting Hardin Valley and Bearden hosting Oak Ridge on Friday night. If tonights District 3-AAA championship goes like expected and Anderson County takes care of Powell, you will have Heritage traveling to Anderson County and WB traveling to Powell. This sets up for a very good possibility of a complete replica of the District 4-AAA "final 4". Heritage matches up very well with AC so do not be suprised if they pull the upset, it will just come down to which team is making the 3. Both teams have the ability to shoot the ball very well. WB drew a very good matchup in Powell. Farragut, Bearden, and WB should advance unless something crazy happens, which at this time of the year they do happen.
  4. That is for AAA obviously, sorry I left out the specifics. Good luck to everyone in their respective tournaments.
  5. I believe everyone would agree that Riverdale and Blackman are pretty much locks to get to the state tournament. I follow mostly the Johnson City down to Knoxville area so I do not know much about the other areas other than Riverdale is VERY good, so I will give my opinion of this area. I think Science Hill gets to the boro and look for a team like Farragut, if they win their region and get to host the substate game to potentially make a run at the state tournament. As of right now those are my two favorites from around here but there is still A LOT of basketball left to be played and anything can happen at this time of the year
