  1. I agree with the Alcoa #1. Their performance against Maryville and CPA struggling the last 3 games makes Alcoa #1, IMO. They are the only team in 3A that would possibly have beaten the first 5 opponents on CPA's schedule. CAK may have won 3-4 of those games - maybe. CPA has struggled with key injuries this year, and they just don't have that much depth. Healthy, they can hang with Alcoa or CAK. If not healthy, they can't repeat. Don't think the rest of 3A is in top 3's class.
  2. Sorry about that. Yes, I left when CPA was down 17-14 and had 4th down deep in their own territory. I have edited my post.
  3. Sorry you are so upset. We are doing fine. Alcoa fans certainly should understand that streaks don't last forever. Goodnight, Runnerup.
  4. CPA's 19 game win streak and 37 game regular season win streak ended at Ensworth's Homecoming tonight 24-14. CPA led 14-0 at half on a long TD pass from Weatherly to Richard and a long run by Omer, after Ensworth failed on 4th down at midfield with less than a minute to go in the half. It rained the entire game until about 5 minutes left, so both offenses were limited in what they could do, and Ensworth was just stronger in the trenches on a night that demanded a running game. In the second half, Ensworth took the opening kickoff and ran the ball at will using the first 6 minutes of the 3rd quarter on the drive. CPA had them stopped one series and had a personal foul penalty that bailed Ensworth out. CPA go the ball back on the kickoff in bad field position and threw an interception to midfield. CPA held Ensworth but another penalty kept Ensworth drive alive and CPA forced the FG that barely sneaked past the upright. On the first play after the next kickoff, CPA fumbled and Ensworth recovered at the 25. They completed a 3rd and long pass, then scored to go up 17-14. 4th quarter, Ensworth, up 17-14, forced a CPA punt with 4:39 left and took possession at midfield (literally on the 50 yard-line). Ensworth used three minutes to drive for the score to go up 24-14 with 1:30 left. On the ensuing possession CPA unsuccessfully went on fourth down deep in their own territory. Ensworth took possession and kneeled the last two plays. This was a very good game and an incredible atmosphere. One of the biggest and loudest crowds I have ever seen at a HS football game. Ensworth deserved the win, but it was basically a game where CPA won the first half and played pretty well, then they had 2 turnovers and several key penalties in the second half and it cost them the game. Congrats to Ensworth on a good win. The Lions have played a tough 5 game schedule and 4-1 is nothing to be ashamed of.
  5. Perdue #9 had a great game and so did Weatherly, but the star of the game for CPA was #55 - LB Cole Smith. He got hurt in the Catholic game, didn't play last week, was less than 100% last night. IMO, he literally 'willed" CPA to this win. he had to come out at least 4-5 times to shake off pain and cramps, but when he was in he was all over the field. He prevented a few long plays chasing down PC backs at the sideline, and made the last play on 4th down PC play to prevent the first down that would have probably ended in a tying TD for PC. Sometimes, the stats don't really reveal the MVP of a game.
  6. Sounds like it. Impressive showing against Maryville. No one doubts the tradition or quality of the Alcoa program, this year or any year.
  7. PC is a very good team, with some excellent skill players. Their QB is a very good player - best passing QB I have ever seen at PC in the many years I have watched them play. #6,#2 are as fast and quick as you will often see in HS. This game was very close, and could have easily ended differently. PC kept getting in long yardage situations due to penalties, and CPA gave up a lot of long yardage 3rd down plays. Both teams had long plays called back on penalties (CPA's was a TD). The turning point was at the end of the 1st half, when PC was about to score and retake the lead. With about 40 seconds to go, CPA sacked the PC QB on 4th down, and then hit for a quick TD in the last 30 seconds. I would not be surprised to see PC in at least the semis in 4A. CPA holds on barely and now goes to Ensworth to keep their 37 regular season win streak intact.
  8. Thanks. That was what I was going for.
  9. Weird game last week for CPA. Rolling early, then White House kid gets carried off field on stretcher on 2nd half kickoff (glad to hear he has been released from hospital and doing good). Seemed to motivate WHH and take some wind out of CPA sails. CPA defender bats a pass up in the air and it falls into WHH receiver hands in the end zone. CPA pours in on in 3rd quarter and WHH wins the 4th when CPA subs a bit (not completely) and makes several mistakes. The thing that has to be remembered about CPA is that they win with superior coaching, conditioning, speed, and playing fundamentally sound. They do not have much size or depth. Their best RB and best DL were held out of WHH game after getting banged up against Catholic. Can PC win? Absolutely, especially if CPA ranks get depleted or they match PC in mistakes. Should be a good game. PC has a great tradition.
  10. It has as much to do with Milan as it does with Alcoa. You and your goon buddy trollers jumped on a CPA thread to imply CPA was overrated because they only won by 7 (in a game they led 35-14 when they put in the subs in the 4th quarter). Hats off to White House Heritage - they scored 28 more against CPA than Alcoa did last year. BPM, you are always welcome on CPA threads as you at least make some interesting, respectful observations.
  11. You would lose that bet like the ones you lost last Dec.. Not a sissy girl, and not the RUNNERUP! But, unlike you, I know how to respect another team when they beat me. You can go back and read it for yourself in my posts after the 2013 game.
  12. All the blah, blah, blah is coming from the RUNNERUPS and other team fans. This thread was started by a suspect CPA fan (who never posted again) and there have been only 8 of 50 replies by CPA fans. I do believe of the two teams who played last Dec., CPA was the only one who walked the walk! Bam....back in your face! Classic!
  13. Sure is a lot of "gum flappin" going on by the RUNNERUPS.
  14. Definitely. Doubt if we will win another game. Season over. It was fun while it lasted.
  15. CPA is unique to many parents compared to BA, MBA, BGA, Ensworth in terms of their Christian based curriculum. I am not saying they are "holier" or have a more Christian staff, faculty, or students, but that they do indeed have a different curriculum and basis for education that some parents want for their kids. BA,MBA,BGA, and Ensworth are more higher education, college prep oriented, and they emphasize that more then the spiritual development emphasis. There is a value and place for both types of schools, and they all attract different kinds of families. I cannot prove this but I am confident that if you talked to most CPA parents of athletes, their influencing factor was not the athletics, but the Christian Worldview curriculum that made them choose CPA for their child versus the other schools listed, even though those other schools are excellent.
  16. I am a CPA fan but I really do understand some of the frustration of the schools that cannot compete against the better teams in 3A. I can understand because I have been a Vandy fan all my life and a Titans fan since they arrived in Tennessee. Seriously, as long as an attitude exists that you cannot win until things change that you cannot control, or that you can't win unless you stop competing against winners, you are doomed to mediocrity forever.
  17. Keep talking - no class. When you win, you're the best. When you lose - it's bad luck. Take your loss and show some class. You're embarrassing your team and other fans.
  18. That's hilarious. You were saying at the time they were going to beat CPA with the QB who played before the game, so you're opinion is very suspect. Classless to get beat then say what would have happened if. All we heard before the game was that CPA couldn't play "smashmouth" with Alcoa. How did that work for you?
  19. Waaaaay to early to crown anyone yet. Lots of possible turnovers, injuries, mistakes, bad weather games left before Dec.. CPA is good , but so are others and they are not a lock, by any stretch.
  20. Bottom line - equality has never in history, and never will, totally exist in society and in the various parts of society. The differences you mention in Goodpasture and Red Boiling Springs also exist between say, Ravenwood and Overton, both public schools. However, I believe the kids that struggle due to the tougher conditions in Red Boiling Springs can, and some will, be great citizens and contributors while some at Goodpasture will have to learn what it means to struggle later in life and will not be equipped to handle it. After all, sports at the HS level is not about records, it is about buildingcharacter, working with others, and learning how to compete in tough circumstances. Sorry, I will get off the soapbox now. Hey, Booger, CPA and ND need to schedule a home and away, or game at Vandy one year. We used to drive down to Boyd Buchanan to play them. Just sayin'.
  21. Possibly true, but not definitely true. My point is a fact, not supposition.Private school parents pay taxes (most of them more if they are the top 10% earners) that go to public schools that are not spent on their kids. Those taxes pay for programs for the kids who go there. I do not have a problem with that, but it is a fact, that families that send their kids to private schools subsidize part of the cost for public family children. The opposite is not true. The CPA families pay all of the cost of the school, the programs, etc.. Also, CPA raises money just like the private schools to enhance the programs. So, they pay to public schools, they pay tuition, and they pay to support programs. There are plenty of public schools that have good facilities and coaches because the community demands it and is willing to support it. Bottom line, public or private - you get what you are willing to pay for.
  22. Without turning this (please) into a public/private debate thread, I agree with the above. I am on record as saying I do not care which division we play in. However, it is only common sense that a private school has to have something to offer families other than public schools to be able to demand the high tuitions. Why would any family pay to send their child to CPA if all things are the same or inferior to the public school? The only reason would be the Christian Worldview curriculum and that is a reason for some families. Keep in mind, private school families pay for public schools and do not use them, which partially subsidizes families that do use the public schools. The public school coffers should be better the more kids go to private schools in a county or city, because the taxes are spread among less students.
  23. Been good but don't have enough money to buy another vowel from Vanna. Lol! BPM, you are my spellcheck. Sorry to see your tough loss last week. Hope you can win out from here. We have a tough schedule.
