  1. Not always so. Murner transferring was no reflection on the excellent coaching of Greeneville as an example. If we had him we could win the state possibly. How good will Maryville be with the addition of Basile? A scary thought for the sub state or the regionals for some teams.
  2. Greeneville should continue its dominating ways in the IMAC this year. Who will finish second? West or East? I hear East is not as strong this year as last but West may be able to contend. Not sure Cocke or CHEROKee wil have anything ? What hapened to Jeff? I hear they are having coaching/player problems? What hapened to East?
  3. Hey USA if you want to see the best fan support then you need to come over to Greeneville. Greeneville fans are the best. This year you could see Greeneville win the IMAC in Football,Basketball and Baseball. This is my preseason prediction. Football is the only close one but basketball and baseball are for sure.
  4. Murner from Greeneville and Basile from Morristown are the two of the best soph's in East Tennessee this year. Both are similar in their skills as hitters and fielders. Not sure of their stats but that only tells you so much. Both look like D1 prospects.
  5. Not sure where you get that? Even your own fans think your defense (fielding) was terrible, your hitting was average best I could tell. The only thing that seemed good was your pitching. How will that make you good for a few years to come. Look at your record last year. And I explained how you made it to the regions.
  6. This will be one of my last posts for awhile. You said the key word "capable", but as I remember none of those guys Davis,Shaw.Basile or Elkins hit Venerable in the previous games. And if they were so capable why didnt they make all conference? And what happened in the regionals? East had some good luck and overachieved as far as I can tell. Next year we will see the real story. By the way Greeneville does not recruit and we are still a much smaller school than East or West period.
  7. Little league and Babe Ruth? You gotta be kidding. You guys got lucky because Venrable was kicked off the team for the final game. If he pitched you lose. I don't think you had anyone who could hit him? It would have been another shutout. Your boys might have been good in the little leagues but now this is high school. Is that specific? Also Greeneville will dominate in basketball both girls and boys the next few years at least. Football is another question but we always have a way of developing talent.
  8. Competing is either winning the regular season IMAC or the tournaments. Head to head competition is also part of it which Greeneville is way ahead in all three sports. With a few exceptions not sure East has the athletes of the caliber to compete with Greeneville over the long haul. Simpson and Palazola graduated long ago and you guys are still talking about them. I wonder why?
  9. East is loaded? Jeff gets the nod next year? Some definite D-1 prospects in the IMAC in the next few years? I suppose you think they are all on Jeff and East to? I doubt seriously you are a scout.
  10. Wrong about Murner. East over acheived this year in baseball. Think they got a little lucky with their lack of real talent. Will see you in football and basketball first, and watch out we are strong in both next year.
  11. East will never be able to compete with Greeneville in football, baseball or basketball. We are a much smaller school with better athletes, coaches and tougher schedules.
  12. Greeneville will be better next year with some up and coming talent. Murner will be the ace. Daniel Boone will also be loaded next year although DB and SH will be strong too. Think Jeff and East are losing a bunch but West is young and should be tough again.
  13. Greeneville will beat East in the game tonight. The question is will the Jeff umpires beat Greeneville again when we play Wednesday night?
  14. Greeneville beat Morristown East behind the awesome pitching of Venerable. He might be the best candidate for player of the year if Greeneville wins the district. He pitched flawless except for the 6th inning when East rallied for two runs.Final score was 4-2 behind a booming homerun by Cutshaw to center. Basile did not have any hits against Venerable in his three at bats. He did make a spectacular diving catch in center and is probably the best outfielder in the IMAC if not the region. Greeneville made few errors while East made more than a few . Greeneville should face Jeff next although West may pull one out? Anyone heard the score between Jeff and West?
  15. Do all the teams have posted stats in the IMAC? Seems some of the coaches are too lazy to get the job done? Where did you find them?
  16. Venerable Murner and Dean should be on the list
  17. This was my prediction at the start of the season and it seems to be holding up. What do you think? Greeneville despite lacking depth at pitcher is riding the top because of the best coaching. Greenway is superb and knows the game and "his players". He is getting the most out of his crew. Jeff County is doing well as expected, but don't think they should have lost a game in the IMAC with their depth at pitcher and other positions. Morristown West with their inexperience but excellent coach in Stansberry is rising to the top. East's appears to be lacking despite some real talent and Cherokee is circling the bottom of the pond. Not sure what to say about Cocke County....who knows? I predict Greenville will win the district despite Jeff's great depth. West could surprise everyone again. East coaching doesnt seem to have a clue and Cherokee and Cocke County do not appear to have enough depth although Depeew is obviously one of the best in the IMAC.
  18. We lost a tough one here....should have won News Article Devils, East Split Baseball Twin-Bill By: By JOE BYRD/Sports Writer Source: The Greeneville Sun 04-20-2005 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Greeneville took a hard-luck conference split with Morristown East Tuesday night at Dale Alexander Field, playing solid baseball en route to a 6-3 win in the opener and then literally throwing the second game away after a rousing comeback to force extra innings where the Hurricanes won 9-8. The Devils weren’t flawless in game one, but they were solid. At the plate, Greeneville had 11 hits, including two doubles by Josh Cutshaw. In the field, they made only one error, and East’s only real offense came on a solo homer. The second game was a little different story. East lit up Greeneville’s pitchers for 16 hits, including five for extra bases. Despite playing from behind from the absolute start, the Devils chipped away and tied it in the bottom of the seventh. The top of the eighth wasn’t good to Greeneville, though, when Morristown East’s Kent Basile hit a double and kept going all the way to home on two Devil throwing errors. Despite the split, the Devils are still in good position. It was only their second conference loss of the year. Greeneville is 13-8 overall, 9-2 in the IMAC. thumb Greeneville’s games today have been canceled. They play on Friday, hosting Jefferson County in a doubleheader. Morristown East actually took the lead in game one 1-0 when Tyler Dalton led off the top of the third with a solo homer. The lead didn’t last long, though. The Devils plated five runs in the bottom half of the inning. Cutshaw got the ball rolling with a two-run double to deep center. Nathan Venerable and and Bryan Dean each had a run-scoring single. East pulled a run back in the top of the fifth on an RBI single from Cory Shaw, but again Greeneville answered. Devon Jordan pushed the Devils’ lead to 6-2 when he reached home on an error. The Hurricanes trimmed it back with a run in the sixth, but that’s as close as they got. Cutshaw led the Devils at the plate and also went all seven innings for the pitching victory. He was three-for-four at the plate with two doubles. Venerable and Matt Cutshaw each had two base hits. Morristown East had 16 hits in the second game, and it started early. The Hurricanes scored three in the top of the first, marked by Jimmy Mosier’s two-run double before Greeneville got the first out. Greeneville finally got out of the inning trailing only 3-0, but couldn’t make any headway on Hurricane pitcher Tyler Dalton, who faced the minimum through three innings. The Devils finally got on the board in the fourth when John Carter drove in J.D. Quillen on an RBI triple and then scored on a sac fly from Josh Cutshaw to make it 3-2. Morristown East gave themselves some breathing room with four runs in the top of the fifth, but Greeneville didn’t go away, scoring two in the bottom half to keep things within reach at 7-4. The Devils trimmed the deficit with a run in the sixth. Morristown East came back with one in the seventh, and that run proved big for them when the Devils scored three in their last at-bats. Trailing 8-5, with two aboard and two out, Jonathan Murner unleashed a two-run double to left. He then scored on an RBI base hit by Venerable to tie the game at 8-8 and send it into extra innings. East took full advantage of Greeneville mistakes in the top of the eighth to win the game. Basile hit a double into the outfield. The Devils weren’t paying attention when they tried to get the ball back in, and threw it away, allowing Basile to break for third. Greeneville threw it away again, trying to get him out there, opening the door for Basile to race to the plate. Cater led the Devils at the plate in game two, going two-for-five with two runs scored, a triple and two RBI. 19. Greeneville saved its best pitchers for Jeff County Friday. Venerable and Murner should be the starters but only Greenway knows? Also Venerable and Murner are two of the best outfielders/short stops combinations in the IMAC. But the best outfielder in the IMAC is Kent Basile from Morristown East. Basile made some incredible plays in center last night against us. The last play of the game was the best catch I have ever seen by anyone anywhere. He has speed , great glove, strong arm and is a big hitter for a sophmore. He also hit a line drive 375 off the center field fence for the go ahead run. The Scouts need to take a look at all three of these guys.

  21. Still a two horse race.....unless West creeps up.
  22. Mid way it looks like a two horse race between Greeneville and Jeff. West and East may have something to say. Looks like Murner and Basile as only sophomores are as good on the baseball diamond as they are on the basketball court. East and West both look pretty young so not sure they can compete this year, but watch out next few years. Did Bowlin sign with UT recently? Any other Division 1 signings in the IMAC/
  23. Greeneville beat West 2-1. What happened with Jeff County?
