  1. Nic Purler is renting out the Jones Center in Cleveland TN during the NCAA Southern Scuffle tournament and holding one of his competition camps. The first one he has ever held in the Southeast. Jan 1st and Jan 2nd. Campers are welcome to stay at the Jones Center during the camp. Bring your wrestler up to Jones Center for this camp then run over to UTC and watch the Southern Scuffle. You get to see some amazing wrestling and your wrestler gets some amazing training. Plus, that Saturday is the TN TOP 100 Tournament at UTC's Maclellan Gym. This will be TN biggest Tournament of the year and a change for you to wrestler kids your don't normally get to see. We are expecting over 800 to 1000 kids at this tourney. We will have weigh in at the Jones center for all campers who goto the TN Top 100. So Minion Duals are on Sunday the 28th, Dixie is on Monday, Nic Purler's camp is on Thursday and Friday, and then that Saturday is the TN Top 100.

  5. Coaches, If you are interested in getting some of your Middle School or youth wrestlers on a team for the Minion Dixie Duals please let me know ASAP. Higher Calling is taking a club team down for all 3 divisions k-3rd, 4th-6th, and 7th-8th. We are going to fill almost all of the weights internally but looks like we may need to be up a couple of k-3 kids and maybe 1 for 4-6. Plus, we have had calls today from 2 other clubs from other states that are looking to fill lot of weights for Minion duals. I believe Christian Brothers youth program (Wave) is taking a team down too so they may have a few spots that we can get kids on too. We were able to get all but one of the 11 kids who contacted us about a spot on dual team for VAC so if you are interested in wrestling in Minion duals which is now the best dual tourney in the Southeast then let me know asap. If there is enough interest Higher Calling might go ahead and enter a team of TN ALL-Star's for kids outside of our club for the Minion duals. Dixie Minion duals are Sunday Dec 28th the day before Dixie Nationals at the World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta. If you wrestle in the Dixie Minion duals then you get to weigh in that Sunday morning at 9am for the duals and that weigh-in will count for Dixie Nationals the next day which is a huge advantage. Last year the Minion dual really took off and this year they already have 30 teams signed up so it is going to be awesome event.   6. Biggest thing right now is that Yost needs to get his entire lineup on the mat and not have any more darn injuries this season before we can think about making another run...
  7. Archer is going to start to drop off after this year, and you will see a new super power in Ga rise up in Woodland High School. All of the nationally ranked MS kids who have been traveling with the Minions for the past 5 years all have or are in the process of moving so that they can all attend Woodland HS together. They have a scary amount of talent coming up their pipleline now and in 3 years they are going to be a top 5 program in the country.
  8. Coaches, if you have any youth wrestlers who need some extra work, nobody is a better clinic coach than Hatcher. A lot of TN MS kids will be in confernce meet but we will have a lot of Ga MS and SC MS high level kids if you have some MS that are competing that day. For K-5 this camp is going to be loaded so let your little guys know about this camp. Jonesfest Wrestling Camps in conjunction with Ga Smashmouth Crew present a combined wrestling camp with the Legendary UTC assistant Coach Mike Hatcher on Dec 6th at the Jones Wrestling Center from 10am to 4pm for Advanced wrestlers ages k - 8th grade. This camp is going to draw almost all of the TN kids that are going to VAC and the Ga Smashmouth group is all of the top Ga Kids. This camp is going to as many hammers in one room that TN has every seen. Cost is $35 plus you need to bring a new unwrapped toy that will be donated to Toys for Tots. Please register on trackwrestling.com. You can pay online or pay at the door. If you pay at the door please register on track and just leave payment blank.
  9. Coaches, if you have any little guys that want some quality action this Saturday, we have some weights that we need to fill for the TN ALL-Star's k-5 dual team. Higher Calling is hosting a Mastercraft Elementary Dual tournament this Saturday at the Jones Center and one of the 5 teams that was committed had to back out this morning so we are going to field a 5th team of All-Star kids from all over TN. Cost is Free and we already have some really good kids committed so we should be able to put together a really good TN all-star team if we can fill the rest of the weights. To participate your wrestler must me in k-5 grade and have an up to date AAU card. Here are the weights. 77, 82, 92, 97, 115 and 125 .. The teams that are coming are Higher Calling, Team Hammer(joe Kremmerer Club), Lovett of Ga, and Pope of Ga.   10. If you have some new pre-K through 8 kids that are looking for some live matches, this SUNDAY the 23rd at 1pm Higher Calling is hosting a Beginners developmental tournament at the Jones Center. We will do weigh-in starting at 12:30 before wrestling starts. We are going to match kids up by skill and size level to try to give everyone 3 to 4 quality matches. Only wrestlers with 2 years or less of experience or kids who need more developmental work please. We are going to try to make this fun and competitive for the kids new to wrestling.

I thought for the most part all of our kids preformed well. The important thing is that all the TN kids I talked to is that they everyone of them to a man not only wants to come back next year but they want want to get out on National circuit and face these kids again this year. They now realize that the gap between them and these nationally rank kids isn't that much. I would expect that all of the TN kids who made the decision to go toe to toe with the best in the nation are going to jump a level after this experience much like all of the TN boys we took to USA schoolboy duals last spring did. Overall, I will say that this was best youth/middle school tournament I've ever been too. The talent level was insane, the atmosphere was crazy, and it was one of the best run tournaments I've ever been too. My only complaint would be it sure would be nice if they used track instead of their own system.

  14. Here is a list of Super32 Middle School and Elementary kids going to Super32. Sorry my kid is in middle school so I don't know all the High School guys to put that list together. As far as toughness goes l have taken my son to most of the majors and even at the MS and EL level this is by far the most talent I've ever seen in one tourney and it's not even close.. No other tournament is as hard or as tough as brackets our TN kids will face this weekend especially in the MS division, it's crazy hard. There is a reason why in the 14 years of this tournament that only 2 TN kids have ever won Super32 and both Ryan Parker and Sammy Evens did it in the MS division. We have the largest group of TN kids going ever so hopefully we will get a few more Champions this year. If any of advanced MS and elementary TN wrestlers are looking for some really high level training, here is an event on Saturday that I'm taking a group of our best wrestlers to that will be awesome... There is a wrestlefest like event that I know pretty much every top wrestler in the state of GA will be at which is why we are going. There is a huge amount of talent that will be at this event including the nations number 1 ranked Middle School wrestler who put on an absolute clinic at Higher Calling last Sunday during our Super 32 live scrimmages against several of our TN state Champions. Here is the info... PSN Smash Mouth Sat Oct 18th, 9 till 4pm, Woodland HS wrestling room Cost-$25.00 Bring snacks, drinks, lunch and change of shirts. This will be a no nonsense drill and live training day for advanced wrestlers, middle school and elementary school, looking to train hard and wrestle the best- no beginners or novice wrestlers please. Drop off at 9 and pick up your son's corpse up at 4. ------------------------------------------------------------ If you travel to this event then come back and stay in the Cleveland area for our Super 32 live scrimmages we are having again this Sunday.. It's free and last Sunday it was one of most incredible days of high level wrestling Higher Calling has ever hosted at the Jones Center.

Since this practice was canceled, Higher Calling would like to extend an invitation to any Middle TN wrestlers looking for some additional training to come to the Super32 live Scrimmages that we are having this Sunday at the Jones Wrestling Center from 3pm to 5pm.... Wrestling must wear a singlet and they will get 8 6 minute live matches on one of our 3 mats. We are expecting at least 40 Super 32 high school, Middle school and Elementary wrestlers from Ga, Al, and TN to show up for the live matches so most of the matches are going to be very high level...but any wrestling wanting to test their metal against these hammers is welcome.... There is no charge for this practice as we are holding these live scrimmages to help get our TN wrestlers across the entire state ready for Super32.....

  20. Just inked the deal with Nic Purler of the Purler Foundation system to come to TN and do a 2 day Clinic in the Chattanooga Area during the Southern Scuffle. We hosted a Purler Foundation Camp this past summer at the Jones Center and it was one of the best camps we have ever had. Because of the success of that Camp Nic Purler himself is going to come down to our state and run a camp. This is the first time that he has held a camp in the south and this will be great. More details to come. Nic Purler will be handling the sign-ups through his website so you might want to check there in a few days. The days for the Purler Camp are Jan 1 and Jan 2 right before the AAU Top 100 in Chattanooga and right after Dixie that is that Monday Dec 29th. Plan on coming down to the Southern Scuffle at UTC and drop your wrestler off at the Purler camp, you get to watch some awesome wrestling and your wrestler will get some awesome competition.

  24. @highercallingwc Ball N Brawl Youth and Middle Wrestling Scrimmage UTC wrestling is holding an outdoor scrimmage on 3rd street at night in downtown Chattanooga on October 10th in a mega event along with their Men's and Women's basketball programs. As part of this event, there will be pre-show exhibition practice on the outdoor mats featuring some of the best youth and Middle School wrestlers from TN, Ga, and Al that will be conducted by Coach Josh Bosken of Higher Calling Wrestling, Cleveland, TN. Chattanooga’s team is sending some of its best to close down 3rd Street on Friday, October 10, for Ball N’ Brawl. This inaugural event features the men’s and women’s basketball programs along with the wrestling team. “This was an idea coaches Heath Eslinger (wrestling) and Will Wade (men’s basketball) came up with,†Director of Marketing and Promotions Geoff Wilcox said. “It is a great celebration of our student-athletes bringing awareness to their seasons which are getting ready to start.†Third Street will be closed between Market and Broad. Wrestling mats will take up that space, while the basketball venue covers the parking lot adjacent to 3rd Street; court courtesy of Praters Flooring. At 5 p.m., wrestling starts a clinic while youth basketball scrimmages. There are events running until 7 p.m., incorporating all three programs in an engaging, interactive manner. Clear Channel is planning a live remote from one of its stations and YCAP’s Boxing Club is involved, along with a live DJ on site. Season tickets are available for the 2014-15 campaign.
