  1. *yawn* You're from Franklin? #CoolStoryBro We will most certainly bring a big crowd Friday, but if we make the title game on Saturday, a good number of our kids will be on spring break, so who knows what will happen then.
  2. Have fun this offseason! I hear there's lots to do in White County other than wondering where your next Kordell Henderson is coming from. There's fishing, there's square dancing, there's peanut brittle...I even hear they have satellite TV out that way now?
  3. Henderson doesn't really post up. He plays more like a shooting guard a lot of the time, with most of his action inside coming from penetration.
  4. First of all, what I post doesn't have anything to do with him and shouldn't reflect on him at all. Dennis King is the best basketball coach in the state and doesn't need me to thump my chest to make him feel any better about himself or his program. For the record, I am not officially affiliated with the program so I don't have to clear my comments with anyone. But I'm also not going to give a team we have yet to face potential bulletin board material before the game by running my mouth about how we think we might beat someone. (Even Bear Bryant used to verbally compliment Vanderbilt during radio interviews as if they were a solid, competitive program.) Once the game is over, you're right, it's a lot easier to say what I was thinking before. I don't feel any sense of masculine insecurity that propels me to "show guts" or prove I have the "stones" to make a prediction beforehand. If you think that makes me a coward, then quite frankly, I don't care what you think anyway. I have no idea if we'll beat Memphis East, as they are a very resilient team that just took down the No. 1-ranked team in the state. We will come in Friday morning and give them our best shot.
  5. If I talked smack/showed confidence towards another team/fan base before we play a game, people whose opinion I care about would not be happy, but I appreciate what you're saying. Memphis East is a tough matchup for us, as are all teams from Memphis. We will have to fight like heck to keep them off the offensive glass. Lomax is a great player and they have some other great pieces as well. Once again, I will not predict an outcome. We have never won a state semifinal before so the onus is most certainly on us not to choke. Memphis teams' track record speaks for itself in the state tourney.
  6. I mean, I'm not going to talk $#!+ to another team and their fan base before we play them, but we felt very well prepared for this game. Most of WC's sets were run through Henderson and we knew we were more athletic at most positions. I think a big school should offer Henderson and am surprised he hasn't had more suitors.
  7. Congrats to White County on a 30-4 season. Now if you'll excuse us, we have another game to scout/prepare for.
  8. Just some tongue-in-cheek trash talk to a fan base that was so confident going in against us. Henderson is a heck of a player but the Warriors don't really have anyone around him. It was easy to see we were the toughest team they played this year.
  9. Thanks for playing, White Co. See you in another 16 years.
  10. Cagey, sir...but based on the film I've seen, I'm having trouble discerning who else has deep range beyond those two. Maybe Whited.
  11. Can anyone on White Co. shoot other than Henderson and Crosland?
  12. I wasn't going to say anything, but Brentwood played Blackman twice; the first time Brentwood lost in OT after being up 6 with a couple minutes to go and squandering the game away at the FT line. The second time Brentwood just didn't shoot very well. Since you mentioned common opponents, Brentwood beat Lebanon by 20+ during a preseason exhibition. They also beat Bearden (ranked No. 2 in CoachT's AAA rankings) twice that same week. During the summer 2014 schedule, Brentwood went 27-1, including a win over CPA (playing both Braxton Blackwell and Tyger Campbell) at Lipscomb. I'm not saying Brentwood will win, either, as the coaching staff has too much respect for White Co. to take anything for granted. The Warriors have a better record than the Bruins and some great players, especially Henderson, Croswell and Vaughn. Lawrence County and Bradley Central are each worthy opponents. I plan on checking in after the game Wednesday. I wish good health and luck to both teams! It should be a great game...
  13. FINAL: Brentwood (28-6) 60, Station Camp (30-5) 46
  14. I largely agree with this statement. It's also worth noting that I've known the names of the bulk of Station Camp's starting lineup for two years; Lebanon makes Sub-state over MJ if Yalen was still there. One thing SC/District 9 observers should take note of: Hillsboro beat Brentwood for the Region 6 Championship in part because of a 64% three-point shooting clip and 62% overall FG percentage. It's hard for any team to win when your opponent shoots that well from the floor (and many of the made shots were well contested). I'm expecting a real streetfight Tuesday night.
  15. The Brentwood Bruins are coming for the Bison Tuesday night...should be one heck of a game!
  16. No doubt, compared to last season, Brentwood has struggled. Three straight losses to Blackman and two district losses. Plus the Bruins were lucky to close on rival Ravenwood yesterday, barely winning at home. But they belong in the discussion for best AAA squad in middle Tennessee (at least right behind Blackman)..looks like Brentwood may see Station Camp in sub-state this year, one way or the other. Other than Blackman, Brentwood, and SC, the discussion for best AAA team(s) in the Midstate should definitely include Hillwood and Cane Ridge.
  17. FYI Brentwood beat Bearden twice in the exhibition games leading into the season. Blackman will keep improving as the season goes along. Young but talented, as usual.
  18. How the heck is Brentwood (13-2) ranked lower than 3rd here? If anything, Blackman should be included here somewhere
  19. Wow, that is huge for WC...he'll immediately be their best player
  20. Brentwood won at Beech last night, 66-53. Beech can play, though. Lots of shooters and guys who can take it to the rack with authority. Any idea where they will finish in district? Brentwood plays at Gallatin on Friday night.
  21. Good luck (and especially health) to all!! Brentwood has a rare doubleheader tonight against White House (4:30) and Page (7:30). Should be a fun night!
  22. FYI I saw SC lose to Overton and Hillsboro this weekend...granted, it was without Anderton and allegedly their PG, but SC still didn't represent. Looking forward to seeing the Bison once those two return...
  23. I can only comment on what I witnessed...Brentwood swept its games, although they only beat a vastly-improved Hillsboro squad by 2 (the Burros were up 3 at one point in the second half). Both 12-AAA heavyweights Hillsboro & Overton beat 9-AAA favorite Station Camp, although SC was missing chickhot2's bf Kyle Anderton as well as their PG...Ravenwood beat Central Magnet. Other than that, Bearden looked pretty good despite losing to Brentwood twice in the past two weekends.
  24. TPPOB's Preseason 11-AAA awards: Best Player in the District--Senior F Garrison Matthews, Franklin All-District F Garrison Matthews, Franklin G/F Grant Teichmann, Brentwood PG James McPherson, Brentwood PG Nick(?) Gleeson, Ravenwood SG Jalen Lawson, Brentwood SG Joe Critchlow, Franklin PG Grayson Murphy, Independence C Tanner Spalding, Franklin -------------- Classic rivals Brentwood & Franklin should finish 1-2 in either order, but I won't comment beyond the facts that Brentwood needs to manufacture some more size this year and Franklin really needs to find a point guard. Indy, Ravenwood and Dickson County will all be likely vying for 3rd place.
  25. You're talking about Metro, right? In that case, no doubt! You'll have a Cane Ridge squad that is really coming of age for potential greatness, maybe the best Hillsboro squad in years (including a senior transfer from McGavock[???] who anchors the post for them), and improving McGavock and Hillwood and a Hunters Lane squad that is always a really tough out. Someone else should start a 12-AAA thread so we can get more informed opinions on that district than I can proffer. I've also heard Overton is beyond legit this year!
