  1. Got to see 'em practice yesterday. I agree they looked good. Energetic. The boys seem to like Coach Moore. He's definitely a different style than Coach Vic. I counted 34 boys. Hopefully I missed some. And the scrimmage time has been changed to 4:00.
  2. Just found out we'll have to wait another week for announcement.
  3. Well said. I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, the length of time is taking it's toll. There are rumors of some of the guys not coming back.
  4. Just saw something on Facebook about a parent at Marion who is upset about something at the school. Don't know any of the particulars, but apparently he has been granted an interview with Channel 9.
  5. This thread has to hold the record for the most "back on topic" posts.
  6. It is correct that Webb was fired from her coaching position. She and her family threw multiple fits and acted very childishly. She then resigned her teaching position and wound up at RHMS. It was recently made known that her RHMS contract will not be renewed. It was known that a teaching position would come open in Jr. High before Webb was asked to step down from her coaching position, so there was no hanky-panky in that area. Webb could have stayed on as a teacher even with Wilson there. Ross, I think, also acted childishly. He now is gone. As far as the SPHS principal job - interviews should start in about two weeks. The BOE learned a few lessons from the Ross incident and that is why it has taken longer than most thought. At least two teachers have noted their desire to retire.
  7. I probably should clarify that the coach shouldn't be a big surprise, but if things suddenly go in a different direction the principal will be a surprise.
  8. Well, to be honest I DO know who the coach will be, and I'm 99% sure about the principal....but, alas, it would be unethical for me to reveal this information. I CAN reveal that there will be no big surprises.
  9. And just to keep this thread from getting boring.....Lil Man quit baseball yesterday. Says he is having trouble with his knees and wants to get them in better shape for football at that college that signed him.
  10. I put my money on Moore. But I'm pretty sure Pratt is not in the mix.
  11. I understand the principal resumes are being reviewed, so maybe it won't be long. As far as a coach who knows. One thing is for sure spring practice is when new ideas are introduced and worked on, and if the new coach doesn't get to have a spring practice the boys could be in for a very busy summer (if we have a coach by then). What are the rules for summer practice? Are they allowed to get on the field, even if only in shorts? Are they allowed to meet in the field house and have skull sessions?
  12. I think the Tim Moore rumors might be a little misleading.
  13. We'll certainly have a better balance of Seniors vs the rest of the classes this year. About a dozen counting Stephon, with nearly all of them starters. And maybe nine Juniors, six of which started. Not to mention loaded Sophomore and Freshman classes. Freshman Cody Fehr will be a potential All-Stater by the time he's a Sophomore. As far as trouble from mom...I only see one, but it's a sure thing her son will play, so no pressure there. I personally think we look pretty good.
  14. Thanks for posting such relevant information. And I'm sure you guys will do fine. I've gotten to know several Sale Creek players (girls and boys) over the last few years and they've always been super nice and super competitive.
  15. Stop it.....you're killing me!! Roy, let me ask you a question...did you use to write for that Seinfeld man?
  16. Like I said a few pages ago....it's really difficult to get someone to stay a while these days. The "Grider era" lasted a long time because they were home grown. Unless we hire from within that's not likely to happen again.
  17. This will have to go in the Roy Dillard Hall of Fame.
  18. The days of anyone staying anywhere very long are pretty much gone. These days professionals (including prep head coaches) only stay till they get a better offer.
  19. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/mar/13/powell-football-coach-derek-rang-02/ This article doesn't paint a real purty picture. But, yes, it's a possibility.
  20. It was a good tournament. Shame that last game got called on rain, but we were out of pitchers. I met some of your boys and the coach - ya'll are a class act.
  21. Not sure what you mean by "obstacles", but I assume you're talking about a few who think they hung the moon. Yeah, there's a few that have egos bigger than a sack of self-rising flour, and I'm hoping that our new coach will be able to knock those boys down a notch or two. I also hope he'll be able to boost the confidence of others. Jake was a huge presence on the field because he was a good field captain. Right now I don't see anyone able to take that position. It'll be up to the new coach to mold one.
