  1. I wondered about the 4 timeouts myself. I don't think that drive was handled the best at all. I was impressed with a bunch of Freshman and Sophomores were playing for Gville last night. I don't expect us to get much better next year. But the year after that things should be looking up. We have a real strong 8th grade class too. They've whipped up on everybody around except Trousdale which they lost 60-50.
  2. youre asking the wrong person. I'm just speculating but with a huge ankle brace and the fact it can't get any worse? I mean they've had a MRI done it is torn
  3. i heard he played with a torn ACL and was probably the leading tackler
  4. Upperman wins 28-23. Upperman was up 28-3 at halftime. Gville had it 1st and Goal at the 8 with a minute left in the game and couldn't get it in.
  5. very true. We will see tonight how mentally tough we are tonight. We'll be able to see if they are ready to make a run at the playoffs or pack up and head to the gym

  7. Upperman wins this one. But as Lee Corso says, closer than the experts think. I don't know who's healthy for Gordonsville so I don't know what to expect. It is homecoming but I don't think that will play much of a role. After getting beat by Monterey by 4 TD's Id say the coaches and players had a little coming of Jesus meeting this week. Upperman 38 Gordonsville 28
  8. I believe Billy Newton #27 was the only one if I remember correctly
  9. Dad played at Gville and graduated in late 80's and his uncle played at Gville and graduated in the early mid 2000's if my memory serves me correctly
  10. Injury Report: Newton will be back in the next two weeks which will be huge. Hunt had a MRI today so he is still unknown and Holder is fine. Tigers will cruise next two weeks but not as easily as in years past.
  11. I hated all the injuries tonight. If everyone stayed healthy (including Milan) I believe SC is a touchdown or two better. Newton looked good for us running the ball until he got hurt which will be a severe blow. Special Teams killed us. I believe we had two or three punts that were shanked for about 15 yards. Which led to SC having a bunch of short fields to work with. Also, the snap-hold miscue on the opening touchdown could have been deadly in a close game (i.e. 2012) Hopefully Milan's long-term health is not jeopardized. There is life after high school football. I hope someone from Carthage can keep us posted.
  12. Midway through 2nd quarter SC is up 7-6. Milan carted off the field on the 2nd drive. Knocked unconscious and dislocated hip. Billy Newton which won MVP for us last year broke his ankle. A bunch of mistakes for each side so far.
  13. I think 1 or 2 get a good amount of playing time but I don't think any actually start
  14. Annnywayyyss... back to the game. Milan was pretty much a non factor when Gville scrimmaged Dekalb last fall against pretty much the same front 7. It was last year against a different team, but I still don't see him running for 100+. I could be dead wrong but SC's passing attack worries me. We are extremely young and inexperienced in the secondary. And if Gville wants to move the ball we have to run it effectively. I feel if we get into situations where we have to pass frequently were in trouble. I think SC finds magic in the hole and wins 20-14. But I would love to be proved wrong
  15. not for sure on total number but I'd say about 7 play on each side of the ball. I saw the RBS/JC score from last night. Is Red Boiling better than usual or is Jackson Co a little worse than usual? Is that big running back returning for RBS? I think his number was 22
  16. Man... Holder sure looked good tonight. I hope he isn't too banged up. I think we will contain Milan pretty well next week but the question is can we stop SC's passing attack. I feel it's going to be another good and close one.
  17. I think we will be pretty stout in the front 7 on defense this year. It is basically the same exact people from last year. But we graduated a lot in the secondary and they've looked mediocre at best in scrimmages. Also I'm interested to see how we move the ball on Offense. When we needed a play last year we would give it to Cason and hope he can get a 1st down. Gordonsville 42-6 tonight. The real test is coming next week
  18. No, I'm pretty sure grades held him back. He could have defintley played at the D2 level. But Trevor Glover committed to Murray St. as a preferred walk-on. I believe that's where Demetric Johnson is now, from South Pitt two years ago.
  19. 2015. Their first official game is against Kennesaw State in September of 2015. Their Head Coach is Carl Torbush, who I believe was head coach at North Carolina at some point and DC at Alabama. Phil Fulmer is kind of putting the program together.
  20. (From Gordonsville)I don't think Kaelin Cason will play college ball next year because of reasons other than he's not good enough. He doesn't have any offers. I did hear something about Trevor Glover and Murray State. I don't know if he's been offered or committed but there seems to be interest on both sides for Long Snapping only. A player to watch in the 2016 class is Dusten Holder. Started both ways for the Tigers this year and played special teams on the State Championship team as well. Real fast, hard nosed kid that loves football. I look for him to play in the FCS when his time comes. The boys have been working hard in the weight room to get back deep in the playoffs where we belong. Good luck to all the 1A & 2A players advancing to the next level.
  21. Coalfield is way better than Gordonsville this year. FWIW
  22. I've doubted Upperman all year long. I always thought a one man show couldn't win against quality teams. York has proved me wrong all year. But, I think ND will slow him down due to the upper hand in coaching. The first person to shut down Connor York beats them easily. Easier said than done. I would spy him with someone every single play. But the bees roll again in this one. 49-35
  23. pretty big and physical bunch they have a great RB/LB in #45. He is really strong and runs extremely hard. However, he's about all they have. They have poor team speed. Fayetteville should have the corner all night. But I wouldn't be surprised with a Monterey win here.
  24. comparing scores is a risky business, if you compare the FC/TC/GV scores you would think otherwise. You just never knew which Gville team was gonna show up this year. Now they are showing up to basketball practice Monday.
