  1. Fayetteville is going to have to outrush Gville to win in my opinion. I think this will be a close game at halftime but Gville will pull away in the 3rd and 4th quarter. 42-21 Gville
  2. Greenback over Sunbright Midway over Unaka Moore County over Harriman Gordonsville over Fayetteville Jo Byrns over Clarksville Academy Wayne County over Cornersville Bruceton over Gleason Humboldt over Lake County
  3. basically. except a running back that can bust a move and bust other defenders. The people that have stopped Cason this year have beat Gville. But if he ever gets going it's a long night for the other team. We have had trouble stopping people all year long though. Especially power running teams. I've been told that you have to stop #32 for Fayetteville on offense and block him on defense. Is this true?
  4. Turnovers and Penalities KILLED the Tigers tonight. Also there were a bunch of coaching decisions that I just don't know about. Oh well, onto the playoffs
  5. Agreed,TC scored ALMOST at will on our defense. Hurts even worse that our leading tackler is gone.
  6. I think this game Friday has made the team realize they can be a solid 1A team. I personally think they are going to come out and beat Goodpasture Week 10 and eventually give Greenback/Coalfield/South Pittsburg a decent game. I still think my Tigers are the 4th/5th best team in the East but I'm also a pretty big homer. That read option with Hamlet and Cason is gonna be deadly after some more reps and more chemistry between the two. But Gville has lost to 3 TSSAA teams. A undeafeated 3A team. A 6-2 3A team and a undefeated 2A team. They're not bad.
  7. #14 broke both bones in his leg and it's pretty serious. #5 has an MRI set up for sometime early this week. They think it's an ACL but no one really knows for sure. He's a warrior and we are gonna miss him on defense. He wouldn't have came out of the game if it wasn't bad. But that's a a sophomore and a junior so I hope they will have a speedy recovery and be ready to go next season.
  8. Just FYI for the Trousdale fans #15 just joined the team about 3 weeks ago. He's been homeschooled the past two years for.... well.... personal reasons. I think it's just a testament to his skill to not play football the past two years and come out and run the ball like that against TC. What could have been for that young man....
  9. I was talking about passing the ball then, now its running the ball. Smotherman was brought in the game against Coalfield and South Pitt to throw to Watson if that puts it in perspective. Slim, what's your opinion between Watertown and Gordonsville tommorow night? You called the Westmoreland/Gville game correctly.
  10. I agree, but last year we also had a QB that could run the ball pretty dang good. Now defenses can key Cason and fly to him. Which I guarantee is what Westmoreland did if you ask around. Smotherman can't hurt you near as bad as Payton Watson could last year.
  11. Told that the Tigers had a great week of practice this week so I'm saying Gville by 21. But I doubt Gville will make it past the first or second round. I don't sense much motivation or excitement. I think this Tiger team is ready to hang their hats on getting a big ring last year and ending the streak against Carthage. But hopefully I am proved wrong. I also asked one of the players if any of our boys was getting college looks and he said Cason is getting a couple and Glover is getting a lot for long snapping. I sure hope these two boys get a opportunity.
  12. I have to hand it to our coaches in that aspect. They don't allow any pretty gloves or sleeves. They also don't allow any pink stuff in October. They tell the players they can wear pink stuff when they go visit breast cancer patients in the hospital not to look like Chris Johnson. I look for Gville to come out firing Friday night. But don't see the blowout some are predicting. I watched a minute of practice yesterday and Moose was chewing them from one side of the field to the other. Also seen two freshman starting at the guards. Don't know if they will Friday night but they was in when I drove by.
  13. I am definitely partial but I love Gordonsville's atmosphere especially come playoff time. All sorts of signs along the road when you get off the interstate and head towards the school. Then we have fireworks and two or three train horns. Also a packed house with a bunch of rowdy fans with milk jugs filled with rocks. The best part in my opinion is the fans are literally right on top of the field. You don't get any closer than what you do at Gville. I like South Pitt too. It's a great atmosphere. Especially when they get together
  14. We we're beat by 46 earlier this year and was beat by 48 in 2008 and that's just here recent. Don't know where you pulled that stat from
  15. I heard today that Co Marshall benched #22 for us earlier in the week for apparent attitude issues. Maybe Coach Moose has already threw in the chips this week and is focusing on Watertown. Also heard that Drew Hamlet has rejoined the team. To put it in perspective, he started at free safety as a freshman way back in 2010 at South Pittsburg for a banged up Chaz Smith. He was starting at free safety his sophomore year (semifinal team) but was pulled out of school and homeschooled after the jamboree. Hopefully he can get eligible and play later in the year. Would be a help in my opinion.
  16. the atmosphere needed one. It was the most quiet high school football game I have ever been too. It was pretty bad from both sides.
  17. i didn't mean it that we was gonna """spank them"" I meant it as we play run defense a heck of a lot better than we defend the pass
  18. Gville proved once again that they can't cover the pass. And that they can't play on the road. But this was a bad situation all together. LCA had some great athletes. I heard they got a transfer in from Riverdale or Blackman a couple or weeks ago. Which just isn't right in my opinion. This game should have never been scheduled with them not being a part of the TSSAA. However, I don't think it's right to say kids name on here but there's a certain secondary member that I would bench so fast he wouldn't ever know what hit him. He played horrible and it was obvious. But moving on we match up way better with Westmoreland next week. Can't wait to see that one
  19. I'm hopeful but you never know. Gville also has their bye week before GP. It should be a great game Week 10 at Gville
  20. Gordonsville is very young but I feel they are getting a little better every game. We have a star junior QB in the making. Makes mistakes like every other young QB but can sling it and run when he wants too. We have a great pair of receivers. And a RB that rushed for 2,000 yards last year on the state championship team. O-Line is average-below average. Defensive secondary is pretty weak. But out of 3 scrimmages and 4 games no one has pounded Gville between the tackles. I just wish some of those d-lineman would play like that on the other side of the ball
  21. yes Gville played horrible in that game. But I think our best lineman was out that game. I think it makes a difference with him back. I also heard some sad news that Billy Newton is doubtful for the game Friday with a sprained ankle. He was turning into one of our best players. Great character And I don't think anyone has less depth than Gville. They are so thin. And it's homecoming. Which is never good
  22. Smotherman has only threw one INT all year and it was against SC which looked to be a miscommunication with the WR. He has lit up every team he has played in my opinion. But on the flip side Montery running it up the middle scares me. What Gville and Monterey games did you see?
  23. I felt that we was just stronger and bigger than everyone else last year. We're definitely not that. But I don't think we've lost a step team speed wise.
  24. Gordonsville's offense should light up Monterey like a Christmas tree especially through the air. I'm afraid though that Monterey just might run over Gville. They've got some huge kids. Our D-Line is gonna have to play low. We are just so small young and weak but I don't think they can run out on the corner. We have a lot more team speed than in years past. Gville by 21
  25. Gville is gonna have to get their running game going if they want to beat a good team. Defense is playing lights out. Same thing with the passing offense. Smotherman/Vaden/Jackson is arguably the best trio in 1A football
