went to the WH-Heritage NCS game. watched pretty closely. Bituli was in backfield some but never got the ball. Lawless played 2-3 plays on offense. Not official stats just what i remember. It was 0 to 0 at half with NCS .on 9 yd line going in, 3rd and 1. they passed incomplete. fumbled next snap. go into half 0-0. So if anyone can lose with these guys he can. good luck JB

The question is will NCS play with both hands behind their back or will they let Bituli run the ball and Lawless block for him. They beat a pretty good WH-Heritage team without doing either.

the defense has not been NCS problem. The problem is not using what you have offensively to maximize their strengths. everything works during the season cause your talent is just superior. It looked like you could have had a good power running game, you had 4 or 5 really good backs. A D-1 lineman, that by the way is legit and will play on saturdays, and they didnt seem to utilize their advantages

No accusations of any wrong doing have been made. I happen to believe they have a huge advantage because of the way the schools are set up in Obion co. we know the advantage privates have, and open zones like Alcoa and Maryville, but union cty keeps thumping their chest and acting like it is "just" hard work that got them where they are. I would contend that it is hard work , good coaching and having a population 3 to 4 times larger than the other schools in 1A. I just wish they were playing in 3a this year to see them beat CPA and then face Alcoa. this conversation is not on their thread so dont get all sympathetic and act like its crushing some poor kids self esteem.

why does poking around make me a troll? i just find it unusual for a city that size to be able to remain single a with all their success and their facilities. i would think more students would pour in . when this doesnt happen it makes me think they have some system that keeps the numbers down. thanks OCRebel for enlightening me. I am sure they are killing your program. They could win 2a just as easy as 1a so that really doesnt matter. i actually think they would beat every one in 3a with the exception of Alcoa

Magnet schools in nashville select and deny kids every day, is that how UC does it. mrobjective mentioned UC magnet program, how does that work?

so what if all the parents decided to send their kids to UC? would they build on and add more teachers? and then what if the next year they all decided to go back to obion c.? i can promise you there is some criteria that ensures UC only has a certain number of students.

i know the athletes in union city are choosing to go to union city. my question is How do they keep all the other kids from going there. for goodness sakes union city has 3000 more people than Milan. How do they keep their total enrollment numbers down

I have been trying to figure this out for some time now. I get torched on the 1A /2A pages for questioning how union city diverts enough students away from their city school to remain single a. I contend its the best setup in the state for success. There has to be some admission criteria, because the school has to plan budgets and know roughly the number of students they will have. It cant just be an open door policy where anyone can come to union city that wants to. otherwise one year Obion may have 1000 students then the next year union city may have a 1000 students. help me understand how this works. Union city may be the only school with this advantage. They are in the heart of the counties population. which is larger by far than any other single A city.they dont use open zoning to bring players in, instead, they use it to get rid of non-football playing students and keep numbers down to single A level. help me understand how UC keeps from growing over the single a threshold, what criteria is used to divert students to Obion?

From what i have heard NCS scrimmaged CPA before season and basically played to a tie. So the Mighty UC better hope they could beat CPA or they may have their hands full fri night. I Believe UC or NCS could play with anybody but Alcoa in 1 thru 3 A. UC wins this game because they know who they are offensively. they can run their stuff in their sleep. they know which plays set up other plays. they value every possession and are content to move it 4 yds at a time. NCS has no identity. They run 50 different things and each week look they they are trying to figure out what will work and they waste possessions. They appear to be trying to grab big chunks of yardage instead of using the big guys they have to get 4 yds at time. Swo, reign that guy in on the recruiting, he is yanking my chain.

I have no dirt and do not think there is any dirt nor any sort of a violation and have never claimed such. All i have said is the way the city and county school are set up provides an advantage for Union City. Its a unique advantage that works opposite of the normal open zone advantage. Instead of Players coming in to a school, nonplayers leave the school. Once you have a good coach and a good season, players want to go to that school and are allowed to. but the enrollment numbers have to be controlled. While i have nothing to hang my hat on but simple math. i have to wonder What if all kids in Union City decided to go to UC, now add some on the outskirts of town , would the bldg be large enough to accommodate this situation. I think not. so there has to be some criteria other than parental choice, for regulating who goes where. like all open zones there has to be a process so the schools can predict the number of students and provide the appropriate number of teachers.. would you say the good football players in union city city limits attend Obion and Union city in the same proportion as the other students. You have an advantage that other 1a schools dont have, This advantage does not mean there isnt hard work involved in UC success. But it also doesnt mean others arent working equally as hard but just dont have the population advantage that you have. It just doesnt sit well when you get on here and act like UC success is simply the result of hard work, and if the rest of us would do it the way UC does it we would be successful too.
