  1. If Blackman attempts to pass as much as they did the first game, it most certainly favors Oakland. Definitely is an interesting factor in this game!
  2. Lets remember that turnovers do not force themselves. Oakland's defense is unreal this season. The last time the 1st team Patriot Defense gave up a touchdown was against Baylor on October 11th. That was five games ago. The first team to two touchdowns wins this one!
  3. I don't believe either statement you made is necessarily fair. Oakland, Blackman, and Maryville are the top three teams in 6A, and to definitively say that any of those teams would lose to the other is foolish. Although my prediction is the same as yours (Oakland winning this game and facing Maryville in the semis), Blackman should not be counted out of this one just because Oakland is "stronger". Coach Shadowens produces the most fundamentally sound teams in the state year in and year out. In addition, Coach Shadowens seems to do pretty well in revenge games in the playoffs (would be interested to see his record in revenge games if anyone could find it). The Patriots MUST be sure not to leave some of the same plays that they left out on the field last time. If I remember correctly, there were three separate instances where Oakland drove inside of Blackman's 40 and stalled in the first game.
  4. Interestingly enough, unapproved website now has Oakland ranked #1 in the state (all classifications) and #29 in the country. Maryville is #2, and Ensworth is #3. Thoughts? I suppose their computers put plenty of weight on a blowout victory against a beat up Siegel team.
  5. Also interesting to note: Oakland shutout Siegel and held them to under 100 yds of offense (68) for the first time this season. Who was the last team to do that before last night? Oakland in 2010, when they didn't allow any points and held the Stars to 15 yds.
  6. Oakland simply executed their gameplan with perfection. Great win for the Patriots, as they now have avenged both of their losses to Siegel last year. Can't wait for the quarterfinals!
  7. It's gameday! I've heard that some Siegel students took Oakland's metal barrels (they use them as drums) and hid them deep into the woods on the backside of campus. This will surely not only electrify the "Blue Army", but also the football team. Good luck to both schools, but I see the Patriots winning this one 35-20. Oakland will dominate in the trenches, and after a close game for the first three quarters, they will pull away. Siegel's best chance of winning is forcing Oakland into uncharacteristic turnovers.
  8. You're right about that. Coach McDaniel won't be shy about correcting those penalties! I've been to all 11 games thus far, and IMO it was the O-Line's worst performance since Week 1 against White Station. I guess you can't complain too much about it after lifting a rusher to over 200 yards and four touchdowns, but they still reminded me of the '11 and '12 units that would rack up at least 6 penalties a game.
  9. I was more so talking about the silly penalties. Just looked a tad bit more undisciplined than usual. Being undisciplined has killed them in past seasons, so my point is that they'll have to put those penalties behind them if they wish to live up to their hype this season.
  10. After watching the game against Wilson Central, I would be a little worried about the offensive line if I was Oakland. Although it is considered the most dominating aspect of Oakland football (deservingly so), the O-Line allowed WC to put pressure on Stacey for most of the night. They also looked undisciplined at times, specifically when they received 3 holding/false start calls in a row to take them out of the Redzone. They'll have to correct this against Siegel.
  11. Siegel probably should've lost the last meeting by 3 scores. They scored a touchdown with under a minute left to put the game within 10. I expect both defenses to play slightly better than last game. I know that Siegel has struggled to stay healthy throughout the season, so does anyone have an update on who won't be playing in this one?
  12. Excuse me for my miscue in the title of this thread. I meant "Battle of the Boulevard". Guess you could say I was a little excited for this one. Carry on.
  13. Both teams are coming off dominating 1st round wins. Both teams are looking for revenge (Siegel lost 35-25 in the regular season; Oakland lost 58-13 in the 2012 playoffs). Who wins this 7AAA battle and why?
  14. Siegel 45-14 Blackman 31-17 Oakland 41-0 Riverdale 24-21
  15. Baylor provides Oakland with a 1st half scare, but the Patriots prevail 35-24.
