It’s great thing to watch YOUR kids and not try to persuade kids in other zones to come move to yours. But hey to each their own. I’m all for coaches going to support their middle schools, and travel team with their players. Now, with that said he has some ballers on there that can play. I’d say they will make the state in the next year or two if not this year.

What do you all think of SH coach? They were flat awful to watch last year, and this year is tad better but still not at the level SH should be at. Do you think kids even want to play for him? They are small and not very skilled overall.

She’s been EVERYWHERE! She will end up somewhere else before it’s over. She’s was at 3 middle schools. Now 2 different HS. What a joke! She’s an above average guard with not much size (for major D1 schools) . Always looks to daddy in the stands when a shot is missed, gets ripped, or anything. I would not want her on my team no matter how good.

He’s a good recruiter/ promoter of himself as well. He’s at ALL the middle school camps/ travel tournaments that are local.

SH has made 4 trips but this may be the shortest of stay of the four trips. They only had 3 players score Saturday. The third person only scored on FT with seconds left. They better have more people help or it will be a blowout.

I can’t understand why SH won’t try to speed up Maryville. If SH makes a few FT they will will win.

Well I do think SH will zone them, but if the they play man it would be when the big girl is out. Who knows though. I looked back at last year SH lost by 9. It might be close but I Maryville pulls away late to win by 10. Do you think either team would try something new to throw off the other or is this game play with your normal plan?

I say SH will okay zone 2/3 or their 1/3/1 when the big girl is in the game bc they do not have any size. They are long but not big. Does Maryville shoot the ball well? SH seems streaky lately and 55 didn’t do much last night and she is their best shooter

Looks like I will take Maryville by 10 over SH and OR 15+ over DB. SH will need to stay out of foul trouble against Maryville to even have a chance. I read today that SH was bragging about being on top. Last time I Checked they still need one more victory before they can celebrate. I just don’t seeing it happen. I was looking back at matchups and played last year around Christmas time and Maryville won. Did either team lose anyone from last year??

As far back as I can remember, this has to be the easiest path for a team to make the sectional round. SH didn’t have to go through West bc they lost their PG similar to SH last year. DB has no chance with either Maryville or Oak Ridge. SH matches up better with Maryville thank Oak Ridge bc OR has the personnel to handle smith. SH will need to avoid OR if they want a shot at state. I still think SH and DB lose to Region 2 teams. Last night Boone never took advantage of SH foul trouble and allowed bench players to make a difference. I still will go back to my statement about quality teams. Neither has played one in quite awhile.

Yea good job. I watched SH tonight was really put off by the arrogance of their coaches and players. I have seen it before this year. Maybe they are having state fever but my mom always told me to stay humble or be humbled. Anyway rant over. I’ll go the same route as the district. Boone in an upset. If SH beats Boone, they will win the Region.

I will take Jeff Co to win and SH to finish runner up. SH hasn’t played a quality team in months. DB isn’t the same team since Johnson was injured. So please don’t say they are quality. It also just hit me that Fullen isn’t there that’s a big blow. I had no clue she moved to Gate City.. Mo West losing their PG has killed their hopes. They would have won the regional hadn’t she gone down. Boone could play spoiler if they get another shot at SH. They keep inching closer to them. Region 2 will sweep the sectionals though bc having watched some of them play, they are better all round than region 1 this year.

D1 tourney starts tonight! I will take THS in a mild upset of Volunteer. This is the best part of the year. I hope all the teams put forth great effort. My upset for the tourney is Boone over SH. If SH does get by Boone and makes the finals though, they will win the tournament. DB really has been struggling shooting the ball. They will need more kids to knock down shots and help lighten the load for Courtney. I would worry she will try and do too much which might end of hurting them.

I feel like Boone is on the rise and might upset Either DB or SH in the tourney. SH seems to have peaked in early January and haven’t played a complete game in a couple of weeks.

SH at Boone tomorrow night. Shouldn't be close but who knows. Maybe SH will play a zone against Boone too, I doubt it though. Boone had hard time with SH pressure in the last matchup. Hopefully DB will have other players step for Jenkins and Carmichael because they are going to get swamped with pressure. SWVA SH and DB are tied. No need to try and make it sound like SH is alone at the top. Anyone know where the district and region is going to be held this season?

Looks like we will have a tie at the top SH defeats DB with the use of a zone to coral Whitson. DB didn’t seem to want to take open shots and forced it to Whitson too many times and passing up open shots. SH made just enough plays to get the win. The score won’t show how close this game was but it was a one possession game until about two minutes to go and SH made a couple baskets in a row. Now let’s just fast forward for round three.

Well. Tonight is basically the regular season championship. SH can gain a share or DB will win it outright. I am going to take DB in CLOSE GAME. If DB wins tonight that will be 3 in a row over SH going back to last year. DB better be ready for the press because what seemed to work well in the first meeting for SH which was about the only positive I saw in the game. Whitson had her way which I am sure she will tonight but she better have some help. SH will shoot better at home but I do not think that played into the loss at DB because they just got out muscled and lost 50/50 balls. Good luck to both teams!

So I guess DB should fall to Science Hill on Friday. I thought she was a factor in the first matchup I thought. I still say the Region finals will be Jeff. Co. and Mo West. They have the two best teams and their coaches always get the most out of their players during the post season. Thats not saying SH and DB do not, just that Jeff Co. and Mo West seem to always play tough in the post season and with regular season wins it seems they have the advantage. I might just be the only one on this but it seems like the lack of competition will hurt some of these teams later on down the road. Its the haves and have nots. the level of play from 3-7 is no where near the top 2. I do not know about the FL tournament for DB but their schedule isn't that difficult and same for SH.

MW is the clear cut favorite. Jeff. Co. is probably the #2 since they just beat DB over the weekend. That gives them wins over SH and DB. I think MW beat DB earlier in the year as well. Looks like District 2 is in the lead at the present moment, but who knows. I wouldn't surprise me though if DB makes a good post season run. I think they have the toughness and players to be a hard out. Science Hill is good but doesn't have the depth I thought they would have this year so that may sneak up on them if they get in foul trouble. 1. Mo West 2. Jeff. Co. 3 DB 4. Science Hill 5. Daniel Boone 6. Mo East 7. Cherokee 8. Toss up.

Well I was right. SH had their shots and missed. Boone had their shots late and connected. I just wonder how the refs can call a block a block a big girl who is standing still and the offensive player runs into them. It cost SH a couple of fouls on the Sharberg kid. Boone seemed to play aggressively while SH played timid and unsure. Hopefully it will be another good game when they play again. I just hope we get better and play we'll on Tuesday.

Looks like no one had any insight on that game. Big conference game tonight between Boone who is picked #1 in the conference against SH who is picked 3/4. As much as I love my toppers I think tonight Boone wins easily. I mean easily by double digits. Just simply looking at the common opponents of the two Boone seems to have the advantage.

SH won two yesterday. Played a good game against Chucky Doak and then kept blowing lead after lead against MoEast. They were up 10, 12, 13, 11, and 15. They had tons of chances to blow it open. This team is really deep and doesn't seem to drop off much when a totally new group is on the floor. If they keep improving they could challenge some of the favorites. I did see that Central took some beatings and Boone split.

East did't seem to put up much of a fight. West handled DB pretty easy. One of their parents told me they were missing 3 starters so that might have contributed to the lopsidedness of the game. Probably wouldn't have changed the outcome. SH looked good last night. They are very fast and played lots of kids and forced quite a few turnovers from Gate City. The team looked much better than last year. Hopefully they can keep it up.
