  1. Keep it at 6. Especially if we are going to get there anyway. I'm for more State Championships. Plus, I've gotten use to 6. Just keep the playoffs decisions to district games. Then teams don't have to travel, win-loss out of district does not carry that much weight.
  2. Talent (1) less injuries(2) with coaching(3) plus who's the hot team(4) equals state champion. We can predict 1 and 3 now. No one can predict 2 and 4. My guess is a team from Rutherford County win a Gold Ball this year in 6a and pre-season you have to go with Henry or West in 5a but time will tell
  3. I think you are wrong, football is a numbers game, All coaches will tell you that, and when you remove those numbers (especially that talented of players) from a program it equals #nogoldfootballs. I can't believe we are even debating this.
  4. My post were really about the differences in Knoxville and Chattanooga and why Knoxville has better programs but not better players. But I've got to answer this one, Colemen did start at McCallie at SS. Sometimes McCallie would let a senior play the first series and then Coleman much better would take over the rest of the game. He was a complete stud, playing the best competition. I saw him return two kicks against one of the top programs in the Country. (Bowling Green) who has like a 50 game winning streak. I also saw almost every school in Chattanooga play. There is not a single school he would have not started on and dominated on. NO DOUBT. All the others would have started or rotated in on a regular basis making the team much stronger. I think you are totally undervaluing these guys. I don't care if a few were soph. they were good even at the DII level last year.
  5. Yeah, I have to disagree. But not worth arguing over. The depth and not having to play guys two ways would have been huge for EH.
  6. The kid that went to Ridgeland was Corey Tucker, a very good young player. Just proves our point, without even trying to hard we just named 7 players, most with college ability. I know there are tons more but who cares. It is what it is, I still suspect Chattanooga will be competitive this year. The programs in Knoxville may produce more championships, but the players are not better.
  7. Chattcane, I don't know about your statement, Last year if you had George Potter, Myles Patton, Jeffery Coleman, Trel Philips, there was also a good player that went to Ridgeland (to name just the ones I know of). Hum, I think East Hamilton could have won the state in 5a, just my opinion.
  8. Dude, you don't get it. Now you don't understand Nashville DII schools like Ensworth, BA and MBA. That is why they dont' win State Championships. Geez, McCallie drilled Cleveland (5AAA final 4) and Baylor beat Webb. If Maryville played teams each week that were as good as them, they wouldn't have the same number of Championship.
  9. Great Point, Put Ensworth and MBA in Knoxville and see what happens, These folks don't understand DII, Webb went DII a few years back and got out immediately. Then put the Georgia border, just on the other side of the Knoxville City Limit sign (Meaning athletes don't have to worry about TSSAA rules) then compare the two cities. These are not excuses these are facts. Enough of the is Knoxville Football chest pumping, please! Yes the programs in Knoxville have had more success than Chattanooga and this is the MAJOR reason why. The players are not better!!!
  10. It is not the same. They don't give full financial aid to players for a school that cost $22k a year and their facilities don't look like a college campus. CAT, CAK and Webb would compair to ND, Boyd, Sliverdale, Grace, We have those too. Chattanooga has one of the highest private school enrollment per population in the entire country. Thats a whole other issue. Baylor and McCallie even in bad years would win school championship yearly. If you say any different, you don't know what you are taking about. My point, football players are not better in Knoxville, their programs may be because they keep more of their players.
  11. Red, First let me say, Maryville and Alcoa do it right. I'm not taking anything from them and I applaud their success. I'm a capitalist and I believe winners win. Their youth football is great, etc.... However, I've know many, many players over the years transfer down into those school zones and guess what, I would and don't blame them. But to compare Knoxville and Chattanooga is not comparing apjples to apples. Grace, CAK and Webb are not Baylor and McCallie and you guys don't understand how easy it is to transfer to a Georgia school and not change a families lifestyle at all.
  12. JSamson, Maryville didn't look so good against Ensworth last year did they, Knoxville doesn't have better football players than Chattanooga, Knoxville does not deal with Private School pressures of Chattanooga (There is no Baylor or McCallie in Knoxville and dont' say Webb). These Private schools take 1 to 3 of the best athletes from the each 8th grade class each year. Now, lets add in the Georgia state Line. Each year several good players transfer down to Ridgeland or Ringgold to avoid dealing with the TSSAA rules. The year Ridgeland played in the 4AAAA Championship game several of their players were from Chattanooga and I'm not even going to mention the same thing happens in Alabama at North Jackson. What happens in Knoxville is a majority of good players transfer to Alcoa or Maryville. Consider yourself lucky and shut the heck up.
  13. Pounder1, so what is all this "Problems on your side of town" about that you have mentioned more than once. What side of town? What problems? People causing problems, the crap never ends.
  14. Go to TSSAA.org, they have a lot of job listings on the site
  15. I wonder why the newspaper coverage is so weak on HS Baseball. At least all the scores would be nice.
  16. That blows my mind after 3 years and all the money in East Brainerd these kids don't have a field. That is ridiculous!
  17. Now they have played some games, Top Chattanooga Area Teams ??? 1. Ringgold 2. McCallie 3. NW Whitfield 4. Gordon Lee 5. Baylor
  18. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD A HS PLAYER THROW 140+ PITCHES!
  19. Who does everyone have in the spring game? I hear Ooltewah is playing Signal.
  20. I just looked at your roster, there are at least six players my son has played some sport with over the years. So go Bucs.
  21. Those young players have played more baseball than some seniors, hard to believe they would make rookie mistakes.
  22. Hey, don't blame the families for trying to find other programs.
  23. Skydogg25, anything can happen in a single game. But I think you are a Boyd Supporter from the post. I looked at the Boyd schedule, I will be very surprised if Boyd defeats GL, NW or Baylor. I'm not a GL guy, so I'm not sure who all is on their schedule. Honestly, I hope you prove me wrong and win all three! I like the underdog and I know several young men on the Boyd team,so go Bucs.
  24. Baseball has to be played in series to determine the best team. When two good teams play anyone can win. I didn't think GL would go undefeated for sure and Ringgold is very capable of handing them a loss and so is McCallie.
